I usually never stray away from Samsung or LG but was talked into this brand. The picture is nice but having non stop freezing issues with all apps. It kicks me off the internet and forgets the password. Maybe I got a defective tv? But will be trading it back in.

It’s a great tv for the price, the sound is not that great, however for my bedroom it is adequate. You can use Bluetooth connected to the tv to get over sound issues.

I've had a handful of modern tv's, from OLED to higher end Mini LED models. It's really great to see more budget minded brands like Hisense packing more and more features into their affordable models every year. I was really impressed with this new U6 model in that it has quantum dot color, mini LED full array backlighting, and 144hz refresh rate. These features added together make for an excellent budget gaming tv that is also great for streaming content. The setup was quick and straightforward. While I don't prefer the Fire TV OS in general due to the busy layout and ads, it works well on this model and I did not have any issues with overall performance. I was able to get everything logged in and updated without any hassle. Once I got my video settings dialed in for color, brightness, and contrast, I was treated to a surprisingly good picture with great brightness at a lower price than a lot of the competition. The mini LED backlighting and high refresh rate alone make for a great general use tv, including gaming, at a price that more average households can afford. Not that long ago, large TV's in the $500-800 range offered much more barebones features. Today, you get a lot more technology along with a large screen. I'm just happy there is more value being packed into these smart TV's every year.

I first want to point out that I replaced an “OLD” 60” projection television that we had in our basement with this Hisense 55” U6 Series Mini-LED. So basically, It was as if I had gone through the twilight zone. This Hisense miniLED QLED television has amazing picture quality. I purchased a multi-functional wall mount and installed it in that capacity. It was super easy to mount and the thing is this television was so light I installed it all by myself. I had it connected to our Wi-Fi in no time and the added benefit of being a Smart Fire is a huge plus. The picture quality is second to none, I have an 80” upstairs that is only 2 years old by another brand, and the two are no comparison, to the point, I find myself watching television downstairs more than ever. I watched an NBA game on it the other night and was amazed at the vibrant colors (Hisense says it has over 1 billion shades of vivid color) and the true colors this television has. I have to be honest, I had heard Hisense but had never owned one of their televisions, but I sure am glad that I received this one. The connection to our sound system that was on the “OLD” television worked perfectly w/ this newer one and it is amazing the sound and picture this television has. This is a very well made and wonderful to watch television. I have been very impressed and would highly recommend it.

55" LED display with HDR and Dolby Vision at 4K @ 2160p with a 144Hz Game Mode Pro refresh rate gets you super sharp viewing enjoyment. Lots of other options like Filmmaker mode that is like a Director's Cut that sets the sound and video as it was originally intended and not resized or cropped to fill screens. My wife loves this feature! With Amazon Fire TV you get Alexa and a handful of pre-loaded top rated streaming apps with more that you can install yourself through the app store. It also has Wifi connectivity for the smart features but also is Apple Airplay compatible. The 4 HDMI ports give you plenty of connectivity. Add a couple of gaming consoles, a Blu-ray player (if you still have such a thing... I do have a pretty impressive video collection so important to me) and a sound bar and you have a well rounded home theater setup. Priced at $799 it was already a decent value but at the time of this writing the price has dropped below $550 making it an awesome steal of a deal. I may go grab another for my guest bedroom!

    Hisense Makes Sense

Hisense Fire TV, 55” MiniLed ULED U6 This Hisense TV generally does a very good job handling day to day needs from cable and streaming, and it works well with additional media like 4k and Blu Ray. There are some distractions and difficulties with the Fire interface and way the TV talks to other components, which I’ll detail below. Long story short: if you do not intend to connect the tv to a receiver, everything is probably going to be fairly easy and look good, and if you don’t mind the Fire TV setup, you should enjoy the easy connections available to streaming and apps. Great TV for the price in this case. The TV at 55” is the biggest TV I’ve ever had and certainly big enough to watch comfortably from across the room. It’s easy to initially set up, with two feet to attach with minimal difficulty. The TV comes with protective foam around the edges, and the entire screen is covered by a piece of plastic. We were pleased when setting it up that there were no dead pixels or other issues. There are 4 HDMI inputs, 1 with eARC. There is also a USB port, RCA composite ports for video and sound, digital audio out, earphone out, and an ethernet port. This arrangement gives a lot of options and is a big plus. It's easy to get started, but because it's a Fire TV, it requires a bunch of sign-ins before the user can just watch TV. Display: “Mini-LED Ultra HD with QLED Quantum Dot technology.” According to Hisense, that means the TV has a wider range of color, boasting a billion different shades. I don’t really have anything to which I can compare that number, but it looks impressive. The backlighting and dimming features add to the richness and depth of the screen. Even watching sports, there is crispness and minimal motion blur (at least so far). That said, the picture is dependent on the source material. Playing a 4k disc of Planet Earth on this tv is gorgeous. I was impressed by the depth and clarity of the material. Generally everything looks good on this tv–even cable and streaming signals, and even old DVDs played through our 4k player. Part of this is the processing ability of the TV, which must be doing a great job upscaling. While these other materials don’t look as good as a 4k disc, they do look good. Upscaled images are still good with strong contrast, but can be a little fuzzier on tv or cable signals. DVDs look a little bit grainy, but given the massive difference between a DVD signal and the richness of the UHD, I have been impressed with the upscaling. There are easy to manipulate settings on the TV itself, which comes with presets for “movie,” “vivid,” “standard,” “game” and “sports” for example. These work pretty well, though the extreme contrast and brightness on “vivid” and “sports” seems a bit extra bright–at least the whites are very white. However, you can still tweak the individual settings within a preset. You can also easily “return” to the programmed setting if you feel like you’ve goofed it up by adjusting. There is also a “filmmaker” mode that lets the user tweak all the main settings manually. There are also choices to apply settings across all inputs or only on one. Additionally, the TV has some smart features that do things like adjust for ambient lighting in your room. I did not test the gaming mode of the TV, though I don’t know that the 60hz refresh rate would be very attractive to gamers. The negatives I have with this tv fall into two main buckets: The interface and navigation Some difficulties with handshakes between components, specifically when adding a receiver to the mix. The Interface: This is a Fire TV, so it uses the Fire structure as its homebase. This requires users to sign into an Amazon account, even if it does not require the user to have prime. Users also have to think for themselves if they are ok with the privacy terms and data usage. I’ve at least turned off the Fire’s connection to the other apps and prevented some other data collection, and I do not use Alexa on the TV. Nonetheless, the Fire setup is going to remember a lot and always starts the user on its home page. It will display access to the TV’s inputs as well as apps. The “home” slot will populate choices from recent viewing habits–shows one is watching on Prime, for example, live “Amazon TV” channels, and connected apps the user has been drawing on. It will also just give suggestions and sponsored apps. There is also an ability to turn on “free” local Fire TV Channels, but that still requires a download. All of this works ok, but I find the interface invasive and aggravating. The TV also doesn't like to turn off and wants to force AI screensavers on me, which I DETEST. The handshake: So, the issue here is mostly with equipment but it’s a little bit the TV. To test the system fully, we made sure to use the TV with our various sound equipment. This includes a setup with a receiver and a setup with just a speaker bar. The setup with the receiver has some flaws and requires using good, up to date, proper 4k protocol cables at the very least. In a standard receiver setup, with cable box and 4k player, etc. going into the receiver and the receiver going to the tv, we had a lot of difficulty getting the cable signal to play uninterrupted on the TV. Buying brand new cables has mostly fixed this problem, but the tv still struggles to keep the handshake between the different components working quickly. It will often drop the signal for at least a few seconds. But, the new 4k cable at least means that the tv doesn’t drop the cable signal every 40 seconds or so. Going directly from the TV to the speaker bar, without the receiver involved, worked easily and did not provide any extra issues. The TV was able to understand that the speaker bar was attached and mute the tv sound, but still allow the control of volume from the main remote. That works well. For the record, this is using a wired connection between the tv and speaker bar/woofer. I have no idea if a Bluetooth connection would work as well. The native tv speakers are ok, and will probably serve fine without any of these complications.

This is the first time I have had a chance to try a Hisense television. This brand just was never on my radar screen until I tried the 2025 version of the U6 Series. I am using the 55 inch version of this television as a bedroom television and it is working perfectly. The screen is a miniLED 4K UHD screen that has inky blacks and bright vibrant colors. There are choices you can make to determine screen brightness and color saturation, such as vibrant, standard and others. I settled on vibrant just because I like colors to pop and this TV is very good at that. The 2025 version of this television has a 144Hz refresh rate which is great for sports and fast action movies as there is little to no blurring. There are other setting you can switch to that adjusts aspects of the screen, such as gaming mode, sports mode, movie mode and others. These make subtle changes to how the screen looks and reacts. Sound is very good, although I do pair it up to a Bose soundbar for some extra oomph from movies and shows. The Hisense has 40 watts of speaker power with Dolby Atmos and 2.1 surround sound built in. The television has 4 HDMI inputs and WiFi 6 and bluetooth for connectivity. It also has an RJ45 jack to connect to a network if you choose. My version of this television is the FireTV version. I believe you can also get this as a Google TV. Setup was as simple as installing the television, updateing and signing into the fireTV app. The TV used the app and existing fireTv in the house to download, install and sign in to my apps. The television was literally up and running in 15 minutes. We all know that the price of televisions continues to come down and technology improves, but I still think this is a great television and for the price point it is selling at, makes for an exceptional value.
