Good Entry Level 4k for the conscious buyer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Thinking about buying a 4k tv at a price thats just right for you? Well this may be right up your alley depending on what exactly you are looking for. Hisense, who are they and what exactly do they have to offer? At first glance this TV almost sounds to good to be true at this price range. One of the big key features for me in buying a TV is who manufactures it and how good is the quality of parts that they use. I have to be honest i really didn't know a whole lot about Hisense other than the fact that they had bought in to a piece of Sharp and Toshiba. I always get a little nervous getting TVs from off brand manufactures that i have little knowledge about. Hisense is a Chinese company that has actually been around for awhile and is more known for there over seas appliances such as refrigerators and such. I dont want to dive too much into the history of Hisense just know that they are a Chinese brand company that has strive to become a power house in the TV world by producing high quality TVs at a price that everyone can afford. Lets talk about what you get out of the box. The Hisense 60" will provide you with a remote and two stands. There are 3 hdmi ports, 1 usb port, 1 LAN line port, AV ports and optical ports. This is a pretty standard smart tv in the way of apps. It comes with youtube and netflix already preloaded and once connected to the internet there are a host of other apps and services you can utilize so i wont go too much in to that. Set up is very easy and you will need a wifi or ethernet connection to utilize its online features and streaming. Now lets get in to the main reason of buying a 4k TV, which is quality and functionality. Now depending on what it is you hope to accomplish this may or may not be the TV for you. I personally love watching sports and playing games on my TVs. For that reason i was a little disappointed that this TV lacks a HDR feature and comes in a 60hz refresh rate. To break this down for you your refresh rate is very critical for high pace action as you would see in sports or first person shooter games. If your not familiar with the way a TV works, every time a image changes the TV needs to completely display the new image from top to bottom. Think of it as a printer. When you print a page the ink cartridges start from the top of page and moves line by line from left to right or vice versa, working its way to the bottom until an image is created. This is the same function of a TV. Slower refresh rates usually mean that you can get some blurring or streaking and may even experience the sensation of lagging if you are playing a high action game. However this was not the case with the Hisense 4k. They have enabled a game mode and motion rate technology which eliminates the possibility of blurring. Game mode allows the TV to bypass certain functions that are not necessary this way it can put all its effort in to keeping up with the high pace action you are about to put your TV through. I have to say i was quite impressed. I was playing Call of Duty and not only was it able to keep up with out any lag or blur but man the picture quality on that size of a TV was phenomenal. Understand that the bigger the screen the more space the processor has that needs to be filled and sometimes this can cause issues. Hisense stepped up to the plate and knocked it out of the park with smooth transitions and bright colors. Speaking of which i was surprised to see how crisp and bright the picture quality was due to the fact that this was not a HDR. HDR stands for High Definition Resolution and what this basically does is make all the colors on the screen more vibrant and bright. The picture quality was so good that i could of sworn it was built in with an HDR feature. Now lets talk about movie quality and streaming. If you have a blu-ray player and some good quality movies prepare to get blown away. I was watching X-Men on my blu-ray and was impressed at the quality of the picture. Hands down this screen was better then the movie theaters which was kinda of sad cause i own some more expensive brand name 4k TVs and the Hisense was just as good of a quality as my other brands. While watching the movie the detail was so crisp and clean i could see the leafs of the tree so good i could make out the veins in the leaf. Now another nice feature this TV has its up-scaling feature. This comes with a UHD upscale which means that any TV show or movie you watch that was not formatted for 4k the TV will due its best to push the highest picture definition that it possibly can on to the screen. Now this is a good feature and it does work but don't expect 4k quality out of a 90's sitcom TV show. For example my kids were watching Full House the other day on the TV. I could tell the upscale was working because the colors were brighter and more distinct but its still a 90's filmed sitcom so the definition was still a little off. The lines around the tables and people were still a little hazy and blurred. Still, it was a better improvement over the original 90's picture quality. Now lets talk streaming. I love watching movies off Netflix and was a little disappointed on the picture quality. Streaming movies is a good way to see the power house of a TV. While streaming the show Stranger Things i noticed the picture quality had dropped a little. The blacks didn't seem so true any more and looked almost a hazy white. There was also some clouding around the borders meaning there appeared to be a white almost fog like tint around the borders of the TV. Now i know latency and internet speed can cause these issues however when i checked my WiFi signal i was clocking 150mbps with a ping rate of 30ms so i know this was not the issue. Stranger Things by the way is a 4k enabled show so i knew it shouldn't of had a problem with the image. I was able to adjust the picture quality to make up for this however my blacks now became too black making it hard to make out certain scenes in the show. I understand that streaming through WiFi is never has good as a LAN line however i have never had this issue on my other TVs. In all honesty im not sure if its an issue with the TV or maybe the streaming service however it is something to note. Here are my final thoughts. There is no denying that this is an awesome picture quality that also doubles up as a smart TV. Other than some issues streaming Netflix i could not find any other real problems with this brand of TV. The only thing that makes me a little nervous is the fact that i don't have enough knowledge of the company to really know just how good of a quality TV they build. The only true way to know is through the test of time and as of writing this review i see no issues at this point, however keep in mind time will tell if this TV is built to quality standards. Now if your a gamer, movie lover or sports enthusiast looking for a great TV to impress your guest and your on a budget then hands down this is the way to go. For all this TV has to offer i don't really think there is a manufacture out there that can compete at this price point. Now if your one of those guys who is building a home entertainment center or you want the best you can get without any issues or unforeseeable problems then you may want to pass on this set up since there is still much more left on the table that a TV can offer, but not only that i personally would of preferred a 120hz refresh rate seeing as how there are TVs that are pushing out 240hz. Pros: -Plenty of ports -Game mode -Awesome UHD picture quality -4K upscaling -Smart TV built ins Cons: -Picture quality drop while streaming Netflix -60hz refresh rate

Not bad but not great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality was no better than my older tv. Good price if you are looking to increase size but if you're looking for quality. This is not it. I ended up returning it 4 days later.

Good TV, pixelated
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely pay attention to the Hz and motion rate. If your TV says 120 moron rate, it most likely has 60Hz, which means more pixelated screens like this one.

Picture doesn’t look 4k
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little disappointed with the picture. It doesn’t look 4K. I’m thinking about calling Geek Squad to see if maybe someone can come out and set it up. Maybe it’s something I’m not doing right. Although the picture isn’t 4K it’s still not bad at all and the price was really great.
