Still Needs Work for Smart Home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because it was on sale, and I wanted to compare it to my echo system. I'm already emersed with Amazon because of my smart home setup. This has, however, been a great addition to the office because it works better than my echos for general info, but I leave the smart home stuff to Alexa. Pros: sound quality is on par, if not better than echo. This provides better responses to questions and allows for the questions to easily be expanded upon, which echo lacks. Cons: lights can only be set to one room/zone at a time, which makes customization much less extensive than the echo. I have certain Lights in my home that serve more than one room, which is the case with many open concept homes. Also, echo allows for better grouping of Lights. Both Alexa and HomeKit outshine Google in this area. All-in-all, Alexa is a better smart home hub, while Google is a better information device. Both do very well with playing music, setting timers and reminders, and answering basic questions.

Google Home is good family fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boys (4 & 7) both love using the Google Home for a variety of purposes. They enjoy doing mad libs, playing "Lucky Trivia" and listening to riddles. We love playing music by just asking for a genre. We find the built in speaker plenty good for our purposes. I no longer have to check the weather for my boys because they can just ask Google. I have some concerns with the accessibility my boys have to the internet. Since it is mostly an audio issue at the moment, it hasn't been an issue. Once we start using it regularly with the chromecast this could be a problem. My 7 year old was asking what games it could play and it came up with a Google search that said one of the most popular games is s_x dice. Fortunately he thought it said six dice. We have attached it to Philips Hue lights, which I'll review separately, but they work well with the Home. We also purchased a Nest, which it works well with. We already had a rachio watering system, but I have not been able to connect them yet, although they claim to be compatible. Also we bought an insight plug, but it hasn't been able to connect, that product may get returned before I am able to figure it out. All in all we have enjoyed it so much that we are considering getting a second one.

Needs some work on home automation.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google assistant on the Google Home is a treat, it may not do everything and it may not talk nicely with some smart home equipment like switchmate, I have to ask google to" tell switchmate to turn on my lights" instead of asking straight up to turn on my lights. But it works nicely with other smart devices like nest. I wouldn't blame google, but there are some growing pains when it comes to the near bleeding edge of technology.

First the mini .. then this.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. At first I was not going to jump onto the voice assistant speaker bandwagon. I though it was a gimmick. But I wanted to buy a replacement for a small bluetooth speaker that I had. I saw the google mini first at black friday at a very good price, said ... meh lets do it. Wife and I immediately fall in love with it, way more practical than a bluetooth speaker and cheaper. And after buying the mini I liked it so much that I wanted another one, saw the Home at special again and got it. Don't regret it one bit.

Excellent start to home automation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love being able to add tasks to my personal calendar and items to my shopping list while standing in the kitchen washing dishes (or making breakfast) simply by saying "hey Google, add fish sticks and hot sauce to my shopping list" Also, it's fun to be entertained with corny jokes and playing mad libs. I use it to control the HUE lights in my house. I don't know how I got by without it until now. I purchased a mini for every room in the house except the bathrooms. What can I say more? I'm glad I got one!

Great smart device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was skeptical about getting a Google home for our living room because I didn't know how much I would use it. Finally bought one recently and set up was easy. I was able to see the benefits of having one right away. With it being synced to my Google account, I could set it to recognize my voice which allowed me to have it check my schedule, tell me about my daily commute (i.e. traffic and time)and give me the low down about the weather. It can even be used to find your phone. Super impressed thus far.

Alexa Who ?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing product. The accuracy recognizing what I say is extremely good. Been using it mostly for news and music in the morning, and to impress friends when they come. Want to set up some iot lights that I can use voice control on but they're too expensive at the moment. If you have a chrome cast you'll never have to search for videos again because you can just find them with your voice and it integrates flawlessly. The speaker is surprisingly very robust. Only negative for me is having to say "hey Google" every time.

Great Home Assistant
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn't sure if this would be worth it, but my family has fallen in love with it. We got three--one for each floor. It's now becoming second nature to ask for things by voice command, and we've integrated Philips Hue and Nest devices into the mix as well. I think in the long run this will be better than Amazon's Alexa products due to Google's strength in search.

Better than the Echo (for a Google user)
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Once you come to grips with the fact that these smart assistants (Including Echo, Siri, and Bixby) are listening to you 24/7 regardless of whether you trigger them or not... they work pretty well. I feel like the whole Echo vs Google Home debate really comes down to which ecosystem you're already more invested into. If you have an Android phone, or Chromecasts throughout your house, or other Google services like Google Music... the Google Home is going to be a better experience for you. If you don't, then give the Echo a try. I also had an Echo and will admit that saying "Alexa" is more intuitive and generally easier than saying or repeating "Hey Google" to trigger the Home. I wish and hope Google updates it with a catchy one or two syllable name soon. This probably doesn't sound like a big deal to you, the reader, but I've found the Echo's far-field mic's work a lot better than the Google Home's. So, repeating "Hey Google" from across the room two or three times in a row gets old pretty quick and makes me miss saying "Alexa". Otherwise, it works great, integrates into all of Google's services really well, and distinguishes the difference between different user's voices perfectly.

Whole Home Stereo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love the Google home for home automation. Control my Phillips bulbs and wemo plugs, nest thermostat and ring doorbell (although they need more integration with ring). Just moved to a new home, I had spent thousands to put a whole home stereo in my last home, now for a few hundred I can control my home from any room and listen to music in every room. I'm not an audiophile so the sound quality is fine for me, I recognize if your really into sound quality this may not be your solution.

A Google Home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent Product, but it does require a LOT of Patience to setup and sometimes maintain - Take Your Time and learn ALL the things that are possible with the Google Home - I should have maybe given it 4 stars because of all the LIl Quirks it has and at times it seems to forget it's name, But it's a Very Inexpensive way to play Music throughout your home and control your home by voice. I have 8 throughout my home (4 mini's and 4 homes) So I guess I have a Goggle Home :-) (Don't Hate)

Good start, great potential
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best thing about Google Home is how many of your random questions it can actually answer rather than just add a link to your phone or tell you it can't help. It's entertaining that anyone can just say "okay, google" (or as I prefer the optional "Hey, Google") and ask a random question when you have a group of people. I have experienced multiple times that people just probe Home to see what it can and can't answer. Add that with the ability to cast youtube videos and music to devices through your house or simply play music it's a great tech companion right out of the box. That said however what I like best is the clear potential and what I expect Home to become capable of in the near future both from Google enhancements as well as the developer community using the recently released integration APIs for Home. The device itself is small and discreet so it can be placed just about anywhere without drawing much attention until you ask it something and from out of the box to setup using the Google Home app was an absolute breeze. In the end I have 1 Home for myself and I bought 2 for my parents for Christmas and they are enjoying their devices on a daily basis.

works well, for simple questions.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.the google home works well, and understands my voice without many issues. it can easily recount basic info. digging deeper is met with some challenges though. for example, 'ask google who won the steelers game last night?' -- google will reply with the steelers won 39-38... then asking a follow-up question... 'hey google who was the leading rusher in the game?' -- google replies that it cannot answer that question. So on the surface, a good product and in time will most likely become more useful.

A Smart Little Assistant
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google home is a pretty nice item to have at home. Definitely does what is advertised and probably some more. It is the tool to have if you want to turn your home into a smart home. So farther only thing i was able to use it for is its speaker, which is very decent already and may be to start couple timers. Haven't had the chance to get it linked to any thermostat or light bulbs for dimming or anything but will get on that soon. I will update the review when I do.
