A powerful tool for making life easy

The Google Home is a powerful tool with a lot of features that can all make your life easier. It includes a large number of systems it can interface with natively, such as smart home and entertainment systems, which can be expanded further by connecting it with IFTTT. The speaker's sound is clear and the microphone has good sensitivity and range. The only reason this isn't 5/5 is because of the lack of a few small features that I was hoping for, such as Wake on LAN for computers on the network.

We love it! From quizes to a new "informed" morning routine or just having it to walk you through recipes in the kitchen WHILE listening to music this thing rocks! We purchased these and Amazon's device and chose this. Amazon seems great for Audible and for shopping (trust me everything I asked her she offered to put in an order for it) tip..if looking into utilizing for home automation buy your assistant first and build from there. Or go with something complete like Vivint.

Great Google Product but needs some polishing

Great knowledge base to pull from when asking questions with Google's vast resources and better than Alexa at controlling Hue Lights. The only dissatisfaction I had with unit which is still a problem as of 7-23-17 is that you can set an appointment in your Google calendar, look up a contact in y our address book, make a phone call from your contacts, or do much with your Google services such as Calendar, Contacts, Docs, Maps, etc. It's great for asking questions which it gives better or more detailed answers and some that can't even be answered by Amazon Echo but Google needs to tighten integration with services badly. Product was still 100% worth the $99 price tag and I have enjoyed it for controlling lights (it will even change the colors for you which Echo is very complex with Echo) and for playing music and general information. If I know Google they will get all the kinks worked out and it will be a fabulous product! Besides its limitations still highly recommended and also very decorative in the home compared to Echo (by the way I own both and like both). All in all a satisfying purchase and great service from Best Buy ordering online. Had it in 2 days. A++

It is very useful and easy to set up. I like how it can play songs just by asking. As well as sync with my tv remote.

Google's Home is great and makes you feel like you are in the future. Controlling things by your voice isn't entirely new, but this thing (with the help of other devices) can control, well your home. I have it synced with Chromecast Ultra and Chromecast Audio. Both work very well and is easy to setup. It is true that the Home is not as far along as Amazon's Echo in regards to apps (two year head start), but it surpasses it in expandability and growth. The Home has one thing that Amazon's Echo doesn't and that's Google backing it. The Home will most definitely be utilized by Google to make it part of the Google Ecosystem which is why the Home is a great purchase. If you are a Google Geek like me with Android phones/tablets and use the Google Ecosystem like GMail, GCalendar, Keep, etc. Then the Home is for you. If you are an Apple fan boy who has to have the latest iPhone just because and don't really care about Google and its ecosystem then you might want to go with an Amazon Echo because it has more apps (even though most are pointless). You could also spend even more money and get that Apple Homekit or whatever it's called.

This has definitely been a great investment so far. The setup was very easy right out of the box. For smart home synchronization, I was easily able to sync my devices together with Google Home. For me, it has worked perfectly with my Google Audio Case, Chromecast and TP-Link Smart Plugs. In terms of the audio quality, it has been great. The speaker picks up on my commands even when I am pretty far away. It is also very clear. Only issue I have had is that certain news channels are lower in volume / distorted; however, that is due to their recording. When answering questions, it works just as perfectly as my phone. Although when I say "Ok Google" both my Google Home and Andriod phone activate, only one of the devices carries out the action or response (depending on which one can carry out the option). What I also find very useful is the fact that I can also use my phone to carry out the same commands if I am not in range of my Google Home (I'm not sure if this was available before); for example, I can tell Google to turn off my lights on my phone even if I am not in rage of my Google Home.and I

I did a lot of research comparing Echo (Dot) and Google Home. I decided to go with the Google product because the reviews I read described it as more conversational and more intuitive. I had no reservations due to Amazon's product having quite a head start. Google's development will, no doubt, close that gap in short time. My family loves the product. We keep it in the kitchen where everyone will eventually gather. It's fun to use, easy to talk to (you don't have to raise your voice even when the music is playing), and a great hands-free tool. We have a Chromecast, so we can ask it to play shows on the tv. It runs TuneIn, Pandora, and other similar platforms that are yours by asking. The built-in speaker is excellent and easily fills the room with good sound from music or podcasts. In a strange twist, my wife brought home an Echo Dot which was a gift from a vendor. I spent time running it through its paces. I'm glad I went with the Google product. For my family, it functions seamlessly and does what we want most. Additionally, the Google Home app has run since day one without an issue. The Amazon app is not as responsive.

For most people this isn't the most necessary device (amazon version too) but, it sure is convenient. The amazon products are better if you want it to shop for you but, if not this is a great product. I use it mainly as a personal assistant, control the chromecast, and play music (for its size the speakers are actually quite good). The one thing I find annoying is that during the setup it "learns" your voice but, commercials for the Google home and Pixel 2 set it off all the time.

We actually received Google Home free as part of an appliance special. And we have enjoyed using it to play music, answer questions, set alarms, set reminders, and give us news headlines. While true that it doesn't do anything that my phone can't (which also has Google Assistant), having it respond to voice anywhere in our main living area is a great convenience. Not to mention a lot of fun. Of course, it works best if you are into the Google/Android ecosystem.

We had fun setting up automated light in whole house, ;later my boys took over and created different groups and placed additional "smaller' echo units throughout the house to be able to control any light/receptacle group from any room in the house. No more light left on, voice command is great. Changing colors, dimming. Asking questions - weather, news, math, etc. HAVE FUN! (We bought Amazon ALEXA also and comparing now which one is better, will update later).

OK, have only had this a few days but already we are finding it indispensable! More compact and more attractive than the Amazon Echo, the sound quality is excellent, it understands what you say or want first time of asking, and after comparing it against Alexa, has a far greater range and depth of knowledge. Excellent.

Its a fun gadget. Good to mess with :) like asking random questions. controlling devices in your home, be your music buddy, Good Sound Its definitely worth a price !! However it has some areas for improvement on various aspects: - "Hey Google " needs to be changed to something short like one word and something personalized word with ability to choose - Range for catching the voice should increase . right even from the same room , it doesn't recognize the command.

I like this device. I bought it to for the fact that I can call my contacts from Google Home. It works well. I like how I can connect my iPhone to the GH and play music from my phone over GH. Can’t do that with the echo. I love setting timers, asking for weather, appointments and other questions. I do not use any smart home connections so I can’t comment on those. Sound quality is good when playing music and average for calls to landlines and cell phones.

I purchased Home Google and was worried about setting it up. It is so easy and within no time at all I had it set up. It plays the music I want, it sets the timer for me when I am cooking, it keeps my shopping list updated, tells me the weather whenever I want, even it I ask how the weather in California is I get that too. And, what is really great It reminds me of my appointments I think it is an amazing machine and I am so glad I decided to get it.
