I'll start off by saying I have both Google Home and Amazon Echo. The Echo is so far more refined than Google Home and has more "services", but I do expect Google to catch up at some point. I think the speaker on the google Home is better than the Echo. That being said, neither speaker is better than a stand alone speaker or system. I do like how easy it was to pair. As a note, my Echo was bad from the beginning and needed to be sent back. Since all of my devices are Android, it made sense for me to try the Home. So far I am pleased with my purchase.

I've used this for a couple of weeks now and really like it. I have Alexa and this and am really starting to lean more towards Google. It paired perfectly with my phone and I love the features. It's much more intuitive.

Very informative and makes everything so much easier ! “Hey google, turn on the kitchen lights”-“ok google, play stranger things on Netflix” or “hey google, set timer for 20min” works perfect and the sounds is awesome !

Bought 2 - one for myself and one as a Christmas gift to my son's family. I love mine; use it almost every day. My grandson's use theirs daily - they are 9 and 6 and think it's great. I would definitely recommend this.

We are loving our new Google Home device. Creates a very nice ambiance when listening to music. Voice recognition is amazing and very rarely misunderstands what we ask. Love it and can see us buying more in the future!

this is my first smart home product. I got this during the black friday sale for $79 and it's been a lot of fun. My only negative is I want my whole apartment to become "smart" and that's going to cost some more money.

I use it every day! Simple set up too. Also got the Chromecast Ultra so now everything can be sent & shown on the TV/stereo system. Love just telling it from across the room to add stuff to my shopping list. Have it set up with my Youtube "Red" account so it plays commercial free music all day. Easy to just tell it to play me a playlist while I'm in the kitchen, etc. - You can just tell it to turn up or down the volume too. This purchase was a gift for someone else since I already have one & love it so much.

My daughter loves this for playing music and asking strange questions. The speaker itself is very good and provides a room full of sound which surprised me due to its small size.

The search engine on this product is of course google and if you do a lot of google searches, this is for you. I prefer Amazon Echo because of accessories and don’t google that much. Amazon echo has bing which is awful

I have 3 Amazon Echo's (AE) connected to Smartthings hub and Phillips Hue hub, and I have really been happy with that setup for about a year. The only thing that was somewhat lacking was Alexa's breadth of understanding more general types of questions and the ability to play music from my google play library, so I was curious as to how the Google Home (GH) would handle these situations, and if the "co-habitation" of both hardware's would be cumbersome or not. I have to say my initial impression is that I like the GH voice and responses to the same questions better. GH seems a bit younger and more "fun", GH also seems to pick up what I am saying a little more accurately than AE. This alone would not sway me much to choose GH over AE. GH definitely reponds to more questions, which is a bigger deal to me. Commands to turn lights on and off and interactions with hub items works pretty much the same and well. I have 5 Chromecast Audio's and 1 Chromecast Video devices and I really like that I can cast music to the Audio devices without having to use my phone or tablet like I had to do with AE. It is also fun to just ask GH to play a youtube video on the TV and it switches the TV automatically to the Chromecast Video and shows the video. I was a little disappointed that GH could not cast directly to my brand new 4k TV without using Chromecast video, though they say this functionality will be coming soon (we'll see...). The other disappointment was that you cannot, CURRENTLY, play songs from your Google play library!!! You can only setup playlist of your songs and play the playlist, but again they say this ability will be coming soon, and since right now they are giving 6 months of youtube red/google play music service, I have plenty to listen to. So once Google implements these "soon to have" features, I think it will be a real winner. AE has lots of developer support right now and that gives it a great edge, but I imagine Google will have the same type of integration at some point. It definitely would be nice if one device did everything I wanted, but the reality is that at the price points for each, and the way the don't step on each other, having both works out great! Now if I could only get one of them to write reviews for me ;)

Cannot compare to Alexa but this works very well with Philips Hue bulbs. Use it primarily to play music with Spotify, get directions, weather info. Little expensive just for that, but it is very good speaker with good volume.

The Google Home has worked great. A few frustrating things when you ask it to do something and it takes three or four times to get it to do what you want. But for the most part it works great. Sounds better than the Amazon.

This machine can do almost anything. She will only understand your voice and no one else. You ask her to play certain music for you and she does. You ask her to look something up and she gives you the right answer.

Easy to setup for one profile with an iOS phone. Got a little tricky when setting up the second account for the google home. However, eventually figured it out and it works. Looking forward to using it for home automation.

Connecting my Hue lights to google home and being able to not have to get up to turn off the lights is one of my favorite things. Being able to make calls on it and sometimes even play a game. It’s a lot of fun.

Works perfect with the Google Chromecast. I have this and the Amazon Alexa and the Google is far smarter. I only use Alexa for the game skills which tops Google but Google Assistant answers most of my questions.

Obviously the comparison nowadays is between the Google Home and the Amazon Echo/Alexa. I own both. Response to voice commands is good on both is good, but the database accessible to Google is much more in-depth. Both access music services and can operate other items on your home WiFi system. It seems that Google does operate a few more that I have purchased over the years, but both are expanding their in-home commands. However, I get a little frustrated when I hear "I can't help with that yet." Overall, I like the Google Home so much that I bought 5 of them this year to give to friends who have never had such a thing or didn't know about the technology. I hope they enjoy theirs as much as we have enjoyed the one in our home!!!

I've used both Amazon Echo and Google Home and they both have certain aspects in which they are stronger, but overall I think Google Home is a little easier to set up and use. My family has young children and they seem to have more success asking Google Home to play their favorite music than Alexa (I think Alexa is just a tough name for kids to say clearly). I like both a lot and would definitely recommend Google Home if you want your kids to be able to use it or plan to do Google searches by voice.
