Loved it, Just Want More
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this for a birthday present this year and I couldn't love it more. Always loved technology and trying to get more and more involved with making the house more efficient. The only problem is the voice recognition. It seems like the more complicated commands that deal with other hubs or applications sometimes don't work correctly. An example is that I also got the harmony hub and connected it to my GHome. I set up commands to turn on my Xbox and a couple other entertainment devices. Ever since doing this it seems that 1 out of 3 times it will say "couldn't verify your voice so couldn't complete action". I have redone the voice recognition a bunch of times but it doesn't seem to help. Besides that the only other problem I have with it is that it doesn't seem to search google anymore when I ask it question. It will answer specific things like who is so and so and what not but the more broad questions it just doesn't know what to do. Besides all this I still really enjoy the fact that I got one. I would recommend getting on deal though because most of the things that are needed to make a house "smarter" usually aren't cheap.

Fantastic smart home device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use it every day whether it's to check the weather, turn on my lights, or listen to music. It's effective, sounds great, looks good, and was at a great price. I hope more of the features on it get unlocked soon though because as great as it is, not being able to set something as simple as a reminder is rather annoying.

Google does it again....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Google is such an innovative company. They may not be the first, but not always the last. Google home is very responsive, understands commands and i am shocked that on the other side of a 2100 sqfoot house if i say ok google loud enough without yelling, google assistant will hear me. This devices gets lower reviews than echo because of the lack of support for alot of items out there. I will tell you, IFTTT.com or the IFTTT app will be your best pal with this device. Very easy to use and people have shared their already created applets to work with WEMO, and many others that dont work out of the box. You can even set it up to call you whatever you want. Mine says Welcome home master, and laughs at the end. silly. The reason i didn't give it 4 stars is(wish i could give it 4.5 or 4.75) , the sound. While it sounds good and is loud, its not very clear. And why is this not portable? it has to stay connected to the wall which is not fun, but we have so many wireless speakers in the house, it doesnt matter, but for the price point(comparing to amazon tap) it should be. Sounds waaaay better than the tap, but the echo has a fuller sound , but costs 50 more.

Great alternative to the Amazon Echo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this as a gift for my brother (I own an Amazon Echo) and honestly, if you're not looking for coding/API capabilities then this is a solid choice. Since this is a Google product it's easy to sync up any Chromecast product you have. Also asking it random trivia questions gives better answers than the Echo does.

The device you never knew you needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely love my Google home. It was something I took a chance on buying because it was on sale for $100 on Black Friday, so I said what the heck. This device has turned out to be one of the best tech items I have ever purchased. I liked it so much I purchased three more for Christmas gifts and everyone loves it. It truly is that advice you never thought you needed but once you have it you love it. It has great speakers and takes great advantage of Google music and my favorite YouTube rea it truly is that advice you never thought you needed but once you have it you love it. It has great speakers and takes great advantage of google music and my favorite YouTubeRed. It is good at generic questions and is a great alarm clock and timer. My family also enjoys playing the trivia game that comes installed on it. My family and I have spent many hours just goofing off with it and discover things to do on it all the time. Finally I am hopeful for the future of this product because when I ask it something it says my team is working on that, so I am hopeful there Will be many new features coming to the device.

Like having a roommate who does my bidding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love having someone in my house actually doing what I request........waking me up in the morning with the news and weather and reviewing my schedule. Having my favorite music on demand is so relaxing and enjoyable I sometimes forget to keep working. I wish it would connect to Audible and play my book but that is not available yet.

Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have tried the Echo and I own one. I am not as satisfied with it as the Google Home. Aesthetically the home is more beautiful and adapts to the interior decor of the home. The industrial cylindrical design of the Echo makes it look ugly. The sound quality is about the same. I am disappointed that google did not add Bluetooth to this device. That is where the Echo beats it. The addition of the aux input to the Echo dot makes it also a product worth considering. I also found the Home annoying because it's failure to support multiple google accounts. The gmail account I use for play music and YouTube is different from the account I use for calendar and my other important things. I have paid a year in advance subscription with google play music and I can't use that account with home because my queries wouldn't be contextualized. Many smart appliances are still not able to work with Home. The cast feature seems to work well. I have not been able to get it to turn my tv own even though it has cast built in. This is still work in progress. While I have given them as gifts this Christmas, I have restricted myself to just one waiting for what version 2.0 holds.

Useful for home automation as well
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought this to control some smart lighting but found other uses for it including streaming audio at times. The sound quality is better than I was expecting over all and has proven to be in general a nice device even with the fears surrounding virtual assistants these days.

Good and getting better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Home and the mini are both outstanding little speakers. They both sound nice. Frankly, the Google home seems so concerned about good bass response that the Google Assistant sounds muddy at low volumes. It interfaces with my hue lights and smart outlets without a hitch. I have both the Google Home and the Echo dot and I think Google has a slight advantage at the moment in that it can recognize different account holders by voice so I can play my content and my wife can play hers on the same device. All in all it's surprising how quickly you get used to having your Google turn lights off and on and you don't realize how handy it is until you enter a room with your hands full and don't have to drop things to turn on the lights. I only gave it 4 stars because I think the internet of things is still in its infancy and having to link a TP Link account, a Hue account, an Ecobee or Nest account, can be a hassle to repeat over and over. It would be nice if you could have a single credential associated with your Google or FB account to sign into these services. I'm sure it's on its way.

Amazing Device
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using this device since release in November 2016. My wife and I love our GH! We purchased Hue lights, Nest thermostat, Chromecast, and Chromecast Audio around the same time, and between using it to control those products, listening to music, radio via iHeartRadio, creating shopping lists, asking for measurements while cooking, and setting timers, this thing is pretty awesome. I can't wait for it to get support for two or more users, as well as integration for calendars, directions, voicemail (or other android stuff), and other android functionality. Google certainly has the data and voice recognition to hit this out of the park compared to Amazon. The ability to say things different ways and for it to still understand your question or request is pretty awesome. With the home group feature you can set up multiple Chomecasts (I think only CC audios at the moment) to play the same thing across different areas of the house. While you could do that before, it's so much easier now to request the music to be played across your house using just your voice. Very happy with it.
