I do not have an echo so cannot compare. I bought the Home because of the Google search. I am interested in Home Automation but am not that far along knowing that the Echo is much farther ahead reading many reviews. However, the integration with Smartthings is extremely easy, and I am using a smart plug for Xmas tree lights using Home to turn on/off which was a snap. Home has a lot of limitation but has a lot of potential if Google increases its integration with its own apps, like being able to ask what is on my calendar but cannot add events, etc. Also once the API is open to other vendors it should increase. It is a toy and is fun and I would recommend it. The sound quality is good, and its two mics pick up our Hey Google voices very well. Based on other reviews I have read it does better in smaller places close to a wall, but not very well in large open areas.

I have been playing with this thing all day long, music, listening to podcasts by mirroring, asking questions, setting alarms. And let me tell you it is spot on!!! Some stuff is still being developed but I don't mind I bought it for the potential it has! Playing music on this thing surprised me. Lots of bass, rock like As I lay Dying sounds so amazing. As long as your not turning it up max volume and playing some heavy hitting music with lots of bass this thing is amazing. I can hear it down the hall and in my kitchen. I honestly thing the sound is 10x better then the echo (which my dad has) I can't wait to see what future stuff Google pushes out for this thing. I plan on adding the Nest Thermostat next and hooking it up to this thing. I for sure recommend this device to anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to the echo.

Google home works great and was easy to setup for home automation

I love my google home. I did not think I would use it as much as I do, but it is very useful when you have your smart products connected to it. I have my Nest and Hue products connect, so turning lights on/off in any room or changing the temperature in the house is very quick and easy. Also, the volume is perfect for playing music when guests are over.

Looks very good in living room and has actually very great sound!

I am very impressed by the performance and general use of this device! Great sound quality for music and can access an answer to most questions. Sports, weather, news, movie reviews, the possibilities are endless!

The unit was very easy to set up, as well as link to our smart thermostat and to other apps. I haven't explored all of the possibilities yet, but it is convenient for weather reports and other basic information. The price was right!

I did a lot of research on Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Bixby, Microsoft Cortana, and other assistants before choosing Google Home. While Alexa seems to be the current leader, it is primarily geared around purchasing via voice (something I don't really want) and the integration ecosystem grew so fast it's a little complicated to get a smooth experience. It also has some weirdness around multiple users in a household. Google Home recognizes your voice and switches profiles based on that. Integration is clean and easy, even if it's a little more limited than Alexa at the moment. If you are already on GMail and Google Calendar, it becomes a no-brainer. I even got my six-year-old set up with a profile so it recognizes her voice. Every time I use it I feel like I made the right choice.

I have had Amazon's smart speaker for quite awhile and decided I wanted to try something else. I like the quality and clarity of the sound. I also like that it comes with Google Assistant and the access to all the data of Google's search engine.

Fantastic all around, great quality and sound and volume. Awesome to be able to talk to it to control music while I'm the shower or across the room. Now have multiple in the house and linked them up to play in sync for stereo type sound.

Love this. I use it to play music. Controls my Xbox. Also have it to connect smart bulbs. Can set dimness. Away or home times. Awesome smart product. Made my home smarter!

This product has delivered all that was promised I look forward to exploring and expanding the capabilities of this useful purchase and hope that it continues to deliver. The sound is great, the ease in operation is also very satisfactory.
