Google home works great and was easy to setup for home automation

I love my google home. I did not think I would use it as much as I do, but it is very useful when you have your smart products connected to it. I have my Nest and Hue products connect, so turning lights on/off in any room or changing the temperature in the house is very quick and easy. Also, the volume is perfect for playing music when guests are over.

Looks very good in living room and has actually very great sound!

The unit was very easy to set up, as well as link to our smart thermostat and to other apps. I haven't explored all of the possibilities yet, but it is convenient for weather reports and other basic information. The price was right!

I did a lot of research on Google Home, Amazon Alexa, Samsung Bixby, Microsoft Cortana, and other assistants before choosing Google Home. While Alexa seems to be the current leader, it is primarily geared around purchasing via voice (something I don't really want) and the integration ecosystem grew so fast it's a little complicated to get a smooth experience. It also has some weirdness around multiple users in a household. Google Home recognizes your voice and switches profiles based on that. Integration is clean and easy, even if it's a little more limited than Alexa at the moment. If you are already on GMail and Google Calendar, it becomes a no-brainer. I even got my six-year-old set up with a profile so it recognizes her voice. Every time I use it I feel like I made the right choice.

Fantastic all around, great quality and sound and volume. Awesome to be able to talk to it to control music while I'm the shower or across the room. Now have multiple in the house and linked them up to play in sync for stereo type sound.

I have had Amazon's smart speaker for quite awhile and decided I wanted to try something else. I like the quality and clarity of the sound. I also like that it comes with Google Assistant and the access to all the data of Google's search engine.

This product has delivered all that was promised I look forward to exploring and expanding the capabilities of this useful purchase and hope that it continues to deliver. The sound is great, the ease in operation is also very satisfactory.

This review is only focusing on home automation. I have been a Alexa user for a few months. I owned many smart devices and I am very familiar with using voice to control them through Smartthings and the Alexa app. It took about 3 minutes to download Google Home and installed on my phone, which was a nice and easy experience. It took another 5 minutes to set up the Smartthings devices and assign them into different rooms, including hue bulbs and harmony activities. Once everything was set up, I tried the same voice command that I used for Alexa, but instead I said Ok Google, all the things worked! One downside with the app is that you can't create groups to group devices together, you can only put them into different rooms. Over time, I hope the Google Home app home automation will improve and catch up to Alexa. For now, I am keeping my Alexa.
