I bought this as a gift for my wife who liked the idea of having a smart device to talk to and help keep organized. For what it's worth the device is fairly smart and works as advertised. It is able to answer most questions that you try to ask of it. There are a few minor annoyances we have come across, for instance, we have found it will respond to some questions from the TV commercials if it's loud enough and you have to be patient because it's not entirely foolproof so it won't answer everything or understand all that you ask of it. We do like though that it is able to recognize different voices and maintain separate data for each of our accounts which helps us out.

This can control my lights and play YouTube videos on my TV through chromecast. The quality of the speakers is good. The only problem is that it has no bluetooth. Everything needs to be "Casted".

Maybe it's just me, but I can't see the value in this thing over Alexa. From what I understand, they basically do the same things. The sound is good. Many things I ask her to do, she says "I haven't learned that yet.". I use it to control my Philips Hue lights and every day, she says "...can't connect to 8 lights" and I have to delete them all and start over from scratch. Annoying! She is a good DJ though and has some funny jokes. And now I'm even more compelled to buy a couple of Nest thermostats for the house. Just hoping it can stay connected to them, for the price. If I have to relearn the connection to them every day, I'm going to throw this thing out the window.

I love being able to play music in an instant. I've never set reminders before, but with the Google Home it's a snap. I check the weather everyday first thing. It's really been a great little helper in the office. At the price it was offered for the holidays, it was a no brainer.

We use our Google home system for a number of things, including holiday light, garage door, it can lock the house up through our security system, etc. Our daughter loves that it plays music and with Google photos we have a constantly up to date photo collection with our smart screens. Nothing makes a day then to be making coffee and a picture of your child pops up doing something silly, or a good family memory is sitting there to greet you in the morning. The fact that it changes, means you are never really sure what memory will be waiting for you!

Best Buy had sold out of Google Home when I went to purchase it. The sales man there, Dewitt, NY, listened to my plan to take it to South Carolina for my mom's Christmas present. He asked me if I was interested in ordering it anyway and have it delivered to her or a Best Buy in S.C. I chose to order it right then and send it to a store near her. Unfortunately something went wrong in placing the order, because it didn't arrive in S.C. however it came to my house in N.Y. in January. The good news is that when she finally got it, she figured out how to set it up quickly and found a music station she loved. She called me instantly raving about how much she was already enjoying it.

I bought this primarily for music all over my house and Philips hue light control. mission accomplished. Its been a little glitchy from the software side and at one point stopped talking to my lights until i disconnected my account from the lights and reconnected. sometimes it doesnt hear me if I talk fast, sounds a little more bass-ie than it probably should, but overall I'm happy with them (i have 2) and will likely by two more for more coverage. Works great if you also get chrome cast audio and connect to your really nice stereo. you can tell google to play music on it and control many stereo systems in perfect sync (LOVE THIS FEATURE)

Great sound, very easy setup, user friendly. It's a bit deceptive though. Free You Tube Red to start BUT after one month you either have to subscribe for $9.99/month or switch music provider.

I did a lot of reviewing for this compared to the Amazon Echo. It searches better, and doesn't rely on solely Echo apps. It uses a great majority of apps already installed on your phone. I gave this to my mom, and she uses it every day to check the weather and traffic. I also got her a Chromecast to use with it, and it is almost flawless. You can ask your assistant to watch Netflix, change the episode, play music, etc., all on your screen! The only drawback is that some apps are more integrated than others, for now. The Home is a brand new device, so this is to be expected. Ours also thinks we are talking to it when we aren't, so be wary of words that sound like "Okay, Google!"

Great addition to the house, helps that we're already in the android ecosystem. Talking to it is seamless once you understand what its expecting. By itself its not super useful, except to occasionally start playing youtube video's on different (chromecast) TV's and get answers to questions. Once you add devices to the ecosystem (Zwave switches / Hue lights / motion sensors / setup IFTTT etc) it really starts to become really useful to turn items on/off with your voice. Really nice to turn off the babies bottle warmer if you're hands are busy with the little one and your forget, or I setup a "Goodnight" trigger word to shut off all lights and monitor for intruders with IFTTT.

After reading tech source reviews and customer reviews about "home assistants" I dropped into Best Buy to look at them. The Google Home was on sale that day at a great price. I really like this "assistant" - lists, reminders, alarms, timers, weather (anywhere), local info, drive times, facts, news, and More. The biggest surprise has been how good the music sounds; I was not expecting that. So, I now use Google Play and so far anything in any genre I have asked for has been available quickly and easily by voice command including volume control/pause/stop; great while working around the house or just unwinding.

I bought my google home packaged in with the Phillips hue light set for a great price. It does what is advertise but doesn't support as much stuff as the Amazon echo but if your already in the google ecosystem like I am that don't matter much. Plus I'm sure updates will bring more support.

I own both an echo and a google home. Both have their strength. My favorite is the Google Home, it's a bit smarter in answering questions, I like the shopping list feature in combination with the app better than the E version. There are some weakness. While you can set alarms, it's not possible to set 'reminders' (yet). Also, the fact that there is no way to connect and stream music from my phone (iPhone) via bluetooth is disappointing. If I want to stream I need a third party app and it's not connected to my player so if you listen to a multi file list it doesn't progress on the player only in the third party app and you have to find the place you stopped streaming.

You have to decide which system is best for you Amazon or Google, but these things are great for so many things cannot list them all. Does take a good deal of "research" to find out how to set everything up to get full advantage. Helps if you have a 13 year old around to program them....
