Easy to set up. Speech recognition is great. Ability to respond to requests is very satisfactory. I also own an Amazon Echo and there is no comparison. The Google Home is the better choice.

Fantastic product. Amazon echo is a bit ahead, however has been out longer. I love the app, love the voice recognition even from afar. Google seems to keep improving rapidly. There are so many hidden features. Take the time to learn all the commands, networking and building the group's with renaming them as well and it's fun. I have a nest named it and now I just say the name to set the temp. Ask google to drop a beat, say good morning, tell google your favorite color and what to call you. Just a few things to can do. Great sound quality and love that you can link several to play music all over the house.

This device works great. It's a little smarter than Amazon Alexa as it's connected to Google's search engine. I like the ability to stream music, get weather updates, and make lists to name just a few. It's a great product almost anyone could find a use for

The Google Home at this time (1/15/2017) is simply not as capable as the Amazon Echo. It is quite good at what it does, but it doesn't support many outside products (really only Philips Hue lights, Samsung SmartThings hubs, and Uber). I think the speaker sounds quite nice, but it is not high end audio. However, I feel it sounds better than the Echo, and it looks nicer than the Echo. Right now it is quite functional for users who use a lot of Google products like the Chromecast and Google Play Music. One will need to see how Google Home evolves over time--whether it gains more capabilities as promised.

I decided on the Google Home instead of Alexa because of how I operate all my devices. I'm very happy with it except for one minor issue. Sometimes I have to either repeat or talk really loud when saying "Hey Google". to get it to recognize me.

Purchased as a 'saftey net' to be able to make phone calls if we have fallen down and can't get back up. One issue was to research how to change the settings so that when calls are made, they do not come across as 'Restricted' - but we got that resolved.

By itself, it is not very exciting. The basic functionality is comparable to what I can do on my Android phone. It is nice to not have to find my phone to ask a question. The sound quality is definitely better than my phone and better than the Mini. What made it really useful to me is the ability to talk to smart home devices. I use the Logitech Harmony Hub to control my TV/Cable/Receiver. I can control lights using Caseta and Wemo. I have Vivint Home Security to which I have even more lights attached. All can be controlled by voice.

Really nice assistant, enabled with power of google. I have a pixel 2 which takes it to next level. Also, the microphone in this device is really nice, it captures what we are saying even when we are talking from the other side of the room.

    Great commands, too much $

The commands word great on the Home, just not as well as the Echo Dot. If all you want to do is ask your Home fun questions and play a little music, the Home may be for you. The speakers are far superior on the Home. However, if you're like me and all you only REALLY need to use your device to voice command shut off your lights, the the Echo dot is for you. Not only is it $80 cheaper, but the voice commands work much better with Hue lights, and the microphone is sognificantly more powerful. It hears me in other rooms. The Home is a great device, just too expensive for me to shut off my lights.

The Google Assistant built into the Google Home is the most helpful assistant I have ever had. Not only does it control my Philips Hue lights, it also manages my calendar events via Google Calendar, works with my girlfriend’s individual Google account, makes calls via Google Contacts, and it is very efficient for getting answers to all my questions. Not to mention that Google Assistant is now integrated into smart phones, the Pixelbook, 4K TVs, and it works with headphones. Now I can integrate everything seamlessly with a simple, “OK, Google.”

The product is simple to use, but, depending on your level of technology comfort, and connected home devices, can be very complex and rather complicated. I personally think it's great, and combined with a few smart devices and IFTTT, my living room is entirely voice activated. The frustrating part is that the device is so good at answering questions, that when it doesn't know something, or gets something wrong, it really stands out and is more frustrating than it should be. I can see how someone not fully integrated with technology would find this either frustrating, or completely useless.

    Alexa's More Knowledgeable Sibling?

Google Home has been great! While there are still some drawbacks such as something as simple as not being able to set reminders through voice (still ridiculous that it doesn't have that ability), it is still miles better at answering questions and recognizing voices than Alexa. While Alexa is still great, Google Home can usually do it better. It is a great tool in the kitchen and it is great for a family as it can actually recognize different people's voices. Overall, Google Home is a very good product and it will continually get better through updates.

So I am torn between Echo and Home. Both are pretty much the same as far as basic usage which I suspect most will use this way. Echo seems to hear better than Home. Home seems to have better music selection. Echo has much more experience and imagine Home will get better with time as it is backed with Google knowledge base. Both are good products , not great yet. To utilized their full potential you'll have to spend a lot more money for gadgets. Home hooks up easy , sounds fine playing music , gives quick responses (weather, news, etc.) and is easy on the eyes no matter where you put it.

    Fun companion for the house

Purchased mostly for the entertainment factor. I've been pleasantly surprised at the level of convenience it's added. Mostly use to play music, turn on/off my lights, add grocery items to a list, set timers, and check the weather. When you're running around the house doing other things you learn to appreciate being able to say a phrase and get a response without having to pick up your phone. Chose over Amazon Echo because of the promised Google services integrations and the more natural speech patterns. Time will tell if that was the right decision.
