Really good thermostat. I like that you can program it by times and temp. One thing that is very important though, is you have to make sure that you have a "C" wire as it provides power to the device. My home was so old it didn't have one, neither the alternative wires (it comes with instructions in case you have other wires you can re purpose as a "C" wire). So I had to bring an AC/Heath tech to my home to add an additional 24v transformer and wire me a "C" wire to make the thermostat work. So double check this first! The screen isn't as responsive as I would like it to be, however I was able to make it work, it just requires some more pressure than, say a phone touch screen. Setup was easy and it paired with my wifi just fine. Other than that I'm loving that I can program different temps by the hour and I can also monitor it from work (I have pets at home so I'm always trying to keep a good temp at home while saving some power while I'm at work). I hope it saves me some money, now that I'm not having my heater work all the time (its already cold here so next year will see about ac). I recommend this to anyone looking forward having an intelligent home, its a must!!

This WiFi thermostat is unique and definetly all you need to control your AC/ Heat inside your house. The installation and set up was done whinin 15-30 minutes,( a quick recommendation: if you do not have a C wire in your house ac/ Heater, you won’t be able to use this thermostat). The great nice digital display with changing colors is nice and the app for your phone is really helpful to control your temperature from the palm of your hands without even been at home. The temperatures where I live have been nice so I haven’t been able to test for a long period of time but I tested both cool and heater and works great. Make sure you have a good WiFi connection throught your house for a outstanding experience with this thermostat with WiFi, also works good with Alexa/ google commands.

First thing first, this isn’t a product you need... it’s a product you want since my old thermometer had all the same features besides the nice screen and WiFi. Other then that it’s your typical thermostat, by that I mean you can control the tempurure and change when your fan comes on. It’s nice to be away from your home and turn off your AC or turn on your heater so when you get home it’s nice and warm. The screen is beutiauful and makes my plane white wall look nice and fancy. The screen is easy to use and works great! You can change what theme color you want, and you can also look up the weather for ur area. Overall I like my new touch screen WiFi thermostat. Pros Beautiful screen Touch screen works great Easy to install Easy to set up Easy to set up phone app Cons Plastic

I received this thermostat and replaced my Nest. I love the big screen on this and the fact you can change the color of the screen to match your walls which helps it blend in so well. I love the fact that it shows you everything on the screen such as humidity, and outside temp. With my nest you had to scroll through screens. The energy savings does not appear to be any different but neither did my Nest from a standard build thermostat. I also should mention I don't use the schedule since people are home at all times of the day. The app is also a little better than Nest in my opinion as it has all the info you need on the main page and easy to adjust your settings. Love this thing and it makes my wall look so technical and modern.

    Works good remotely

Product itself works great! Syncs up with the app and wi-fi so I'm able to monitor remotely. The unit I connected to was a little old and did not have the "C-wire" required for remote operation. Because of that I could not utilize the free install with my Pro account so had to get a local AC company to do the install.

Setup was a breeze. Took about 20 minutes. Just follow directions in the manual and on the screen. It has everything you could possibly want. There are videos to watch if you have questions. It has a touchscreen. It displays the outside temperature (I assume from the internet), as well as the indoor temperature. It tells you the indoor humidity. It even tells you when you should change your furnace filter. It works with most smart hubs to conenct to Alexa or Google Assistant. It has voice control with the app...not sure why you would need that with Alexa. It even has a custom color display to match your decor. The reason I wanted this particular one is because it is a product of Honeywell.

I was provided a free unit in exchange for an unbiased review. The Honeywell Smart Color Thermostat should be a reasonable replacement for your current thermostat. I say "should be" because I didn't realize that a "C" wire (or gas heating wire) is required to actually power the thermostat in order to make it work. This thermostat is not like a very well-known competitor that may use lithium-ion batteries to make theirs work. You either have to have a "C" wire (which essentially is a power-only wire) or you have to use a gas heating wire (if you have a gas furnace). This thermostat does not run on batteries. The downside to using a gas heating wire is that in using it you lose certain fan functionality at the thermostat level (e.g.: fan on or auto). If you're comfortable configuring wiring like so, then this thermostat is for you. It's relatively easy to tell ahead of time if your current thermostat setup can handle the power requirements. Simply remove the front of your current thermostat (or equivalent device removal) to where you can see the current feed of wires to various letters. If you have a "C" wire that is directly connected to your current thermostat, then you have no issues. If you don't, then the included guide will ask you if the "C" wire is otherwise in existence but not being used (or back inside your wall). Then you have to trace this wire back to the heating/cooling unit to confirm, otherwise you risk shorting the system. I'd definitely recommend the Honeywell Smart Color Thermostat if you're at least reasonably comfortable working with wires. You don't have to be an electrician to make things work, but being somewhat handy is definitely helpful.

Installation is easy, check out the Honeywell video for install on YouTube. I was fortunate to replace a similar sized Honeywell with this one. Pretty much everything lined up identically. Keep a pencil handy, two would be best. One you can use to hold the wires so they don't fall inside the wall. The setup and interface could not be easier to navigate. Still in the process of it learning, but being able to control thru Google Home is great. I have a few IFTTT commands set up to do our normal adjustments. I'll try and post some follow ups after a couple weeks of learning by the thermostat.

The thermostat works well, and can be controlled from an app on your smartphone. However, the outside temperature (which it claims to be from the internet) is always off by as many as 5 degrees. In addition, the touchpad is not sensitive and you have to press VERY hard to make any changes on the thermostat face.

I’ve only had a chance to use this for a few days, but so far I like it. Installation was a breeze, about 15 minutes from opening the box to final set up. Once installed, I downloaded the app and and registered the thermostat, from there it’s ready to go. Unfortunately the weather has been very mild and I’ve had no need to use the HVAC unit. But I was able to test the unit, heating and cooling worked perfect, no problems. I will update this in a few weeks once I’ve had some time to really see how this unit performs under real conditions.

Excellent for all rooms other than Bedroom

This is an excellent thermostat. I loved so it much in my den that I bought two more! Then this issue came up. The display is so bright that the thermostat in my bedroom would keep me awake. Tech support could only suggest that I change the color scheme. I changed the background to black and the lettering to gray. This helped until around 2:00am. All of a sudden this bright light comes on and I am wide awake. The culprit is the thermostat burning bright white. It does this two days in a row so I call support again just to be told that the thermostat is programed to do this at 2:00am for 1 hour every day to avoid display burn-in. The moral of the story: Great thermostat for anywhere in the home but a bedroom!

To begin with this thermostat requires a C-wire (Common - normally blue). Check your existing wiring and make sure you have 5 or more wires. If you do not you will need to run an additional from your unit to the thermostat, this could be quite expensive. If you have a "C" wire installation is very easy, it took me less than 5 minutes. I suggest you take a picture of the back of your old unit so you can refer to the previous wiring when you start moving wires to the Honewell. In automatic mode the thermostat will automatically switch from cooling to heating based on your min/max setting. I've always wondered why "old" thermostats could not do this automatically - well this smart thermostat can in automatic mode (it can also force you to do it manually in manual mode; althought I don't know why you want this). The (iOS) app worked flawlessly, all the basic information in the palm of your hand, from anywhere in the world. You can view your current settings and temperature and change them easily. The most time consuming part of the setup is on Honeywell's website. Registration requires a lot of information, It would be nice if were wers quick and easy but they require a lot of info, which I think should be optional. One area which I hope Honneywell improves upon is is it's historical reporting. The is not much of it, I'd like to see daily, and monthly graphs, and be able to easily compare month to month usage and runtime data. Since I've had the unit I've notice improvements in their app and web site, so it's a possibility; they have the data. Now much to my suprise the feature I thought little about when I got the unit is the ability to change the screen color. Most smart thermostats on the market have either a black or light color background that cannot be changed. This unit lets you select a color to match your decor. I love this feature, at times it matches my walls, at christmas I had it red or green - cool.

Can’t stress this enough. Take a picture of the wiring before you take apart the old thermostat. Watch the video also. Setup was real easy and took about 30min at the wall and about 5-10 min online to register. Once setup you can play with the controls however you. The app is easy to use. The device itself displays the outside temp and humidity as well as inside temp and humidity. You may not care about that but I find it a nice feature.

I've only had this unit for a few days now and i love it. It was easy to install if you know what your doing and the app works well. I love the fact i can program and/or schedule heat or AC. The only thing i have issue with is the Wifi connection. Not sure if its my router or the unit but in the beginning it would not connect to my router. Regardless its working well and i haven't had a problem with it since.

I looked at several thermostats before I purchased this one. It was very easy to install and program. It is also very user friendly. I can change any setting on my tablet or at the unit. My HVAC tech also told me that the Honeywell was the most user friendly that he has worked with. Also this is the 3rd Honeywell thermostat that I have had and I never have had any problems with any of them.

I had an earlier version at a different home. I installed this, along with a change over to a 5-wire system, and the install/setup of the thermostat was simple. The wireless connection was simple and intuitive. I love the web access via cell phone apps (iOS and PC). My only criticisms are the wireless is only available on 2.4Ghz band and the security settings are only accessible on the device.

I had been putting off replacing the 15 year old thermostat that came with my house. The was a super nice idea. I can very clearly see what the temp is in my house. I like i can see the humidity level also. Usage is very straight forward. You can go to the unit, use the app, use a web browser, and for my I can use Alexa. I don't have to remember to raise the temp when I leave and come back to a house that feels like an oven. When you install this I fix computers and used those small tools to remove the old thermostat. So have a few Phillips on hand. Watch the video, it can be very helpful and yes take a picture of the old wires. After you setup your new thermostat, check the settings for scheduled cold/heat. Mine defaulted to 85 degrees in the afternoon on a weekend. I did have a few problems on installing, and why this is a 4 star not 5 My old thermostat had locked pins. I attempted the on-line tech support chat, 2 times. Took over an hour to get a person. The chat agent got all my information, then just said he did not know how to help me and ended the chat. So an hour wasted. I just ended up breaking the leads off. There are little tags you put on the wires to make sure you keep them in the same place from old to new thermostat (Y1,C,R,G etc). Some of the tags are long and some are very short. makes it kinda hard to put them on the wire. Fortunately only 1 fell off and I was able to figure out how it was all supposed to go back in place. so other than poor tech support and tiny tags. I think this is a pretty good thermostat. do it.

Great units but there is quality control issue

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After much research, I chose this thermostat over Nest and Ecobee. This may seem like silly reasons, but I seriously did not want to drill additional holes in my wall, and I did not want a thermostat that will require me to patch holes and repaint the wall. This thermostat's wall plate had the exact same screw hole positions as my older Honeywell thermostats (Pro 3000 and Pro 5000). This is my first wifi and programmable thermostat. I love being able to set the schedule and check on the humidity using the Honeywell app. So why 4 four stars instead of 5? Because one of the two units I ordered from Amazon came defective. The wall plate was missing the piece that accepts the pins. Honeywell quality control needs serious improvement. I had to go to Best Buy and get another unit and install it myself. I saw what the HVAC person did the first time, and he told me what I needed to do when I get a new unit. The unit didn't power up for me the first time because one of the wires were loose. It took several retries and a call to my HVAC consultant to figure out the problem. It was definitely a challenge having to connect 6 wires in a very small space. There was no snap sound or indication that the wire was plugged in correctly. If that was the case, I would not have the loose wire. Other than the quality control and the loose wire (probably my mistake) issues, both units are working as expected. Since they are made by Honeywell, I expect them to last for a long time.

The biggest pro to this smart thermostat is the large touchscreen interface! I have a Nest set up in a different area and the two work very similarly, but the Honeywell's screen and ease of use is what sets it apart. The app is easy to learn and the thermostat overall looks great, definitely not the ultra-modern style of Nest but much more contemporary.
