This dehumidifier works very quickly to take the water up. I empty it three times a day which surprised me. It has been wonderful!

There is a 5% threshold when the desired humidity setting has been reached. The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 3 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. Operation restores once the relative humidity is 5% higher than your desired setting. In a couple weeks since the old one died the basement was getting quite damp and smelly. Within a day the humidity was way down with this new machine.

By chance when I picked up the new Zelda game I pre-ordered ( flooded basement or not, I had to get the new Zelda game), I ran into the manager and I jokingly asked if he had a dehumidifier because the state of Colorado didn’t. He did! This behemoth was a life saver. Pulled over 3 gallons of water out of my basement, saved my floor and walls! Pricey, bilirubin worth its weight in gold!
