I also do some light work for maybe 1-3 hours per day. Being around Houston, TX with ridiculous outdoor humidity, this unit has been great so far. It’s probably overkill for the size of the garage, but it will probably be less overworked. I do plan on insulating my garage doors and properly sealing some holes to reduce radiant heat, but in terms of humidity, you can notice the difference compared to outside. I just need to install the external hose drain as sometimes I do forget to empty the reservoir as the unit will stop once full. Overall, I’m pleased with the unit and will be using it a lot.

Very effective dehumidifier

Haven't really tried to figure out how to get it to shut off if the humidity level is below the set number, but the fan does shut off when water tank id full. Really shocked at how much moisture this unit removes from a basement that has no water problem. I have it set at 50 and have to empty the water collection tank daily. (Great source of water for watering our outdoors plants. Major plus: I no longer smell mustiness during the summer. I have turned the unit off during the winter as the humidity in the basement reads 35-38.

There is a 5% threshold when the desired humidity setting has been reached. The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 3 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. No Sweat Set-up

I got a great price by choosing open box pricing. It didn't say it was damaged but the wheels were broken and the package wasn't even sealed on the bottom. Not returning it for a broken wheel.

Specifically for the direct drain feature. This feature DOES NOT WORK. Honeywell provides a 1 m hose that is too short to be useful for most people, but even that hose doesn't drain the unit. Tried the hose from my previous unit (an LG that was a workhorse until it died) to no avail. Additionally, when you remove the bucket prior to it being full, the unit does not shut off, but continues to drip water where the bucket should be. Best Buy only had a two week window for the return (which I wasted trying to make this unit work, since returning takes time) and now Honeywell is supposedly processing a warranty claim, which consists of periodic requests for information "needed" to proceed with the warranty. And this unit was pricier than most. Will update based on how the warranty situation plays out.
