Frost appears on the coild when the dehumidifier has been recently turned on in low room temperatures (usually below 41°F (5°C)). This is normal. Frost will disappear in an hour or so after the dehumidifier is switched off.     Unit does not have auto shut off and restart to control the humidity and to keep operating cost down!

The compressor will shut off once the relative humidity is 5% lower than your desired setting. The fan will continue to run for up to 3 minutes to cool the motor and will then shut off. When the unit is switched on, a fan pulls moisture-laden air into the dehumidifier where it passes through dehumidifying coils inside the unit. These coils condense moisture from the air and collect it in the water tank. The dry air is then exhausted from the dehumidifier.     Does a great job and backed by warranty

    I purchased this unit because it was rated #1 by Consumer Reports, 2 year ago, for summer use in the basement. It worked great until this year. After running for a short time this year, I received error code E3 indicating there was a problem with the coolant. Honeywell provides a 5 year warranty on the cooling system. In order to exercise the warranty, I needed to have registered the product, which I neglected to do. No problem though. Because I purchased through Best Buy, they had the original receipt, which was needed for proof of purchase. I reached out to Honeywell support and after a couple of emails, they sent me a replacement unit. The new unit is running and doing a fabulous job. I can't rate this 5 star because of the initial failure. However, the overall experience has been great. The unit works great. I have no idea how long the new unit will last, but knowing Honeywell stands behind their warranty is reassuring. I would definitely purchase this unit again.

    This dehumidifier is a really made appliance. Much quieter than our other dehumidifiers, the Honeywell App was super quick and easy to set up and very simple and clear to program the unit, and it is proving very effective in our 500 square ft open space living/dining room. The water tank is a touch fussy when trying to remove, likely due to it’s large size, but the external drain hook up is quick and easy.

    Weird way to remove bucket, and hose is SO SHORT

    A couple of issues: 1) Be aware that the little plastic drain hose that comes with the unit is VERY SHORT. It seemed weird because the manual said to keep the unit 17 inches from the wall, which is like half of the hose. Which means you'd have to keep it a few feet from your drain. (Note that this model doesn't have a pump to transport the water away). They also said to not use any other hose. (!?) I tried a garden hose but I couldn't get it to drain using gravity. I am going to return and just get the one with the pump - then it can fore sure pump into the drain or even the tub in the laundry room. 2) I bought this for my mother, and while our plan was to have it continuously drain the water via a hose (rather than having to empty the bucket all the time), she might have to empty the bucket from time to time. The problem is that the bucket is VERY DIFFICULT to remove. Super awkward. I had to literally sit on the floor, pull it out via the tabs on each side, and it would have been really heavy had it been full so the whole process would have been impossible for her. Fortunately once I exchange this unit for the one with the pump she will hopefully never have to empty the bucket. :-/ Or maybe I need to get a different brand/style altogether - one where the bucket is accessible. On the bright side, it was easy to get it started - the display panel buttons are easy to use (if you follow the manual. Otherwise good luck.)

    Lasted 31 months before running low on Freon. It was used every day and worked well to keep a basement dry. The online controls were very handy. Wish it would have made it longer. Seems Honeywell is one of the longer lasting brands.

    I purchased this dehumidifier back in the summer of 2020 for my older home that has a partially below ground basement with a walkout. Anyone who lives in the Delco will know exactly what I am speaking of regarding the basement. Needless to say, my basement can be pretty humid at times since there is very little airflow ever available due to glass block windows. Since purchasing, this dehumidifier has run daily and I have not had any problems. It is a little loud but nothing extreme and every now and then it can clog and will require a clean out (this is rare). Otherwise, it is set up to empty by hose directly into my utility sink so it is not a problem at all. It is as if it is not even there and my somewhat mid-evil looking times basement stays very cool. It is always below 50 degrees down there which is perfect!

    Very noisy! Power cord hangers cannot be repositioned once installed wrongly. Drain hose attachment is horizontal. This is just dumb as any imperfection in hose connection causes a leak. Drainage hose provided needs to be three times longer to provide function. Power cord also too short. This is a high amperage device, and providing power via an extension cord may cause fire. Exiting air flow cannot be redirected. The manufacturer cut many corners in unsafe places - just stupid!!!
