After pouring through countless vacuum descriptions and reviews, even Consumer Reports, I was still unsure as to which vacuum to choose for a replacement for my ol' trusty Hoover. Shark scores high in this price range, but I was lead back to Hoover as I owned one for years, and it was faithful til it's last belching exhale. I don't get worked up spending money on things like vacuums, and like ironing, I don't relish my next chance to vacuum. But I steered my car to Best Buy and chose this Hoover Air Steerable model. It seemed every choice I had before me lacked one or more items I had written down I wanted in a new vacuum-and manufacturers try to sell you on all sorts of features but don't get down to the "nitty-gritty" of just how well their model stacks up in suction section! It's true this model lacks a lot of attachments-just a Crevice and upholstery/stair brush all in one, so it you are in need, or get off on a lot of those extra bag of gadgets, this may not be the best choice for you, but let me tell you all-what I wanted was delivered in this Hoover-it's lightweight, very easily steerable, able to navigate in weird angles to get around furniture and under your "un-moveables", and most importantly has absolutely incredible suction power both on carpeting and hardwood floors! I wouldn't be surprised if I sucked the lady's wig off downstairs in my apartment building! It's got a three channel wind tunnel technology to switch easily from floor to deep pile carpet, and there is 7 cyclonic chambers (You tube review) to this unit's air system so you don't get that nasty "just vacuumed so now I have to get out the windex and clean all the glass/and dust off all the furniture again" with this unit's both washable and non wash HEPA filters. It's not incredibly loud, it has for me very ample cord at 30 ft. (though I wish it had an auto return instead of wrap around feature most vacuums now all seem to have). This, and the resulting waste easily empties into the trash-and I don't miss those hunting expeditions for the right bag which my chosen store inevitably was out of! And Its got a 5 year warranty so that speaks to Hoovers integrity. I had an accident which affected my back and I am becoming arthritic as a result, so if you have health issues or hate heavy vacuums in general, and are looking for a vacuum which is light and easily maneuverable, then this just may be the model for you! Happy shopping and vacuuming, if there is such a thing!

Did not pick up granular items like dropping laundry powder and children's play sand.

It worked fine for about three weeks and then the beater bar stopped working. returned it to best buy.

The air steerable dumped a line of dirt every time I turned it to steer around furniture

Received as a gift to replace my old Hoover Wind Tunnel. Pros: ability to switch the brush roll from carpet to bare floor; base is very flat, allowing you to go beneath furniture; washable filter; extra long hose lets you reach further (ceiling corners, etc); balanced - it doesn't tip over when using the hose assembly; quiet & excellent suction. Cons: extra padding (furniture guard) doesn't allow you to get close to wall or other side surfaces; no side suction, you must be vacuuming head on toward any debris to achieve suction, emptying dirt cup is a messy process; although it's only 14 lbs, all of that weight falls into your operating hand and can cause a little premature fatigue; doesn't pick up 'kibbles' of dry dog food, instead pushed them along; hose drops out of the clasp designed to keep it close to unit - not the end of the world, but cumbersome; no place to clip electrical cord, so must carry that along in your non-operating hand. I've only used it once, and may in time come to like it more. I'm hoping my family didn't spend over $100 for it, because I don't think the pro's are worth much more than that.

I just purchased and used this vacuum. It smoothly swivels around objects and suction is good. I picked up even more dirt after vacuuming with another cleaner first. There are two items of just a little concern. The upper cord wrap movable guide is very flimsy and I suspect if you were to bump into something it may break. It needs to be thicker and stronger so it will stay in position. Secondly, the plastic piece that holds the unit upright with spring loaded ball bearings appears it may wear over time and may not hold it in the upright position. I am not however worried about any of this. To me this is not a big issue.

My dog is an intense shedder and can cover any surface with hair in minutes. This vacuum is amazing for pet hair and allergies, and has EXTREMELY strong suction! Note, if you have laminate floors I WOULD NOT recommend this vacuum because the suction is so strong it pulls up the floor and the vacuum will not move across the floor at all it just sticks to one spot and ruins the floor; but regular carpet, tile and hardwood floors turn out spotless!

This thing works great. I have two dogs and vacuum at the least every other day. I had a Hoover before so I kept the old attachments to use for this one. The only bad thing about this one so far is the lack of extra attachments. I believe there is a pricier model that includes the attachments and a larger canister. Suction is very strong so I advise to be careful on loose carpet and rugs. The two filters really helps. There is a washable filter at the top and a HEPA filter at the bottom which is not washable. The light weight really makes it easy to get around the house.

Vacuum is light, easy to carry and maneuver around furniture. It has a strong suction and cleans the carpet very well. No vacuum bags to buy, but sometimes it can get messy emptying the canister.

we made the mistake of purchasing a bissel after using a hoover for years. big mistake!! we saw the hoover air on the best buy web site, went down and purchased it and was amazed at the amount of dirt and dog hair the bissle had left behind. we saw an immediate difference in the overall look of the carpet. the price was reasonable as well. I am so sorry I strayed from you Hoover, it will not happen again! and if anyone would like to purchase a bissle I have one I will give you mine :)

Great vacuum and worth every cent. My last vacuum was a Eureka and I hated it because had to replace the belt twice in less than 4 years. I decided to give Hoover a try and so far, it's been a great decision. I have 2 kids so this vacuum in 2 weeks has already been put to use every other day. It's great in picking up literally, everything when with my old vacuum I had to do a second if not a third pass. I'm not too happy about the vacuum only having 1 attachment but not having to spend a long time vacuuming my living room makes up for it.

Perfect to leave your carpet really clean and the best thing it's light and little.

This vacuum has it all, its light weight, nice looking, does a great job vacuuming easy to use Bagless, (saves money)

The suction power of this vacuum is noticeable as soon as you turn it on. It was very easy to assemble and is very light weight. You can feel the vacuum pull the carpet as you use it. I took away one star because although it performs incredible well, it feels VERY cheap. When turning corners you can feel the plastic handle flex in your hand. I imagine with moderate force you can break the handle. I would still recommend this vacuum based on the impressive performance alone.

This is a great product, easy to use, the steerable part makes it a breeze to use, it really pulls dust from carpet very powerful. I really love it. Only draw back is cleaning dust and dirt out, it dumps easy enough, but for anyone like me with allergies it's difficult. But there all bagless now.

To switch from one function to another is a big hassle. Hope it was easier . But over all good suction .

We purchased it and maybe used it 2 to 3 times and within that first week, the vacuum broke, and no longer functioned. We had to return it to Best Buy, which was unfortunate because when we first got it, we were all impressed on how well it worked.

I've purchased Hoover products before and they seemed to be good but this vacuum is terrible. The suction power on it is not good at all and I had to go over places multiple times to get it to pick up which is not good. The only good feature about the vacuum is that it's light weight but if your looking to get a deep down clean you won't have it with this one. I'm returning it and going with the Shark NV552.

I bought this vac because I have a bad shoulder and it is light weight and I hoped had good suction. It had great suction but it would not go straight and if I wanted to vacuum straight it just would not go forward and the front came up. Trying to use it was causing a great deal of pain in my shoulder and arm. I called Hoover and they said you (customer) couldn't take off the bottom panel to get at the brush roller in case the belt broke (which they said wouldn't happen in lifetime of vac., I question that) and that if it wouldn't stay down I should take it to a vac repair person. I took it back to Best Buy and got a different vac and not a Hoover.

I would never recommend this vacuum EVER! I live alone and am gone much of the time. I do not need to vacuum too often. When I do, this thing picks up very little and then may spew it back out! The hose from the pick up area clogs or it clogs where the hose connects to the canister! If that is not enough, it will mat up with carpet fiber in the canister around the filter. I have to clean the hose and canister every time I use it. Horrible product! When I called about it to Best Buy, they don't service it and referred me to some 3rd party would not even talk to me! The piece of junk I have ever purchased! I give it 2 stars because it looks good. Don't believe BB will post a negative review!
