Customers are saying

Customers are delighted by the Power Scrub Deluxe's cleaning performance and ease of use, frequently praising its effectiveness and user-friendliness. Many appreciate the machine's weight and find the price reasonable for the quality. However, some customers point out that the water tank could be larger and the cord is shorter than ideal; a few also reported minor leakage issues.

Great carpet cleaner for a great price. Gets dirt left behind from the vacuum and the dirt you can't even see. The attachments work great and it's super easy to take apart and put together. Comes with a 2- year warranty and I can drop it off and have it fixed for free! You need to sometimes go over stains a few times and the brush heads are also sometimes hard to clean if hair or fuzz get in them. Overall great so far and I trust my carpet are getting clean.

I have had so many carpet cleaning machines over the years because of foot traffic areas and pets. The Hoover Power Scrub is by far the best one I have ever used. It's powerful, yet not heavy and I love how easy it is to maneuver around the house. It's also great at getting out tough stains with the added hand attachment that has automatic moving brush. The Hoover Power Scrub is an absolute must-have for all families with carpets. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I I wish the brush itself was automatic like how a vacuum moves, but for the price point it's def worth it.

It's an embarrassment to my carpets

Not the carpet washer, mind you. But how dirty my carpets were and I didn't even realize it. I've had two prior carpet washers before this one besides renting the professionals. The first one just plain died on me, and the last one I had started fighting with more than actually using it and I didn't think it was doing as good a job. I did a lot of research to find the right one for me and settled on this one. The things that drew me in was how it did not have a water bladder so it kept the dirty water and the clean water completely separate and how it was smaller so I could fit it in tighter spaces. I bought it, got it home, and immediately unboxed it. It takes about two minutes to put it together with only two screws for the handle to put in. Read the directions, and immediately set to work. Now I had just used my old cleaner not long prior and the water always came out dirty. But this thing... Oh, boy. I am now embarrassed. The water came out pitch black and you could clearly see where I had cleaned and where I hadn't. The carpet had been a medium brown, now it's more like a light orange -- it was orginally a kind of red color, but it's really old original carpet. It's survived two kids (I'm one of them), two dogs, and seven cats through its lifetime and is still going. Filling and emptying the water tanks is really easy to do. I love how the solution is kept separate so I can rinse the carpet after I clean it so I don't leave residue. Cleaning the dirty water tank is just a simple clip away to get out all the dirt that doesn't want to pour out of the spout. Another plus is how you can take off the front of the machine and clean where it suctions. My old machine kept getting clogged with hair (no matter how much I vaccuumed) and it was such a pain to clean. No issues with this one. I used the spinbrush attatchment to clean the transition carpet edges because the machine couldn't get to them. I had an issue with the hose at first, I didn't realize I could put it on upside down and apparently I did, so it didn't work. The directions don't explain this at all. One issue I had which is partially the fault of the cleaner I use and our softened water was that it foams so bad it kept popping the stopper. I had to buy an anit-foam and put a tiny amount into the dirty water tank and no more foam issue. In the end, I cannot recoommend this product enough. It's a reasonable price and does a fantastic job. I have used this several times since I purchased it and every time I am amazed at how well it cleans and how dirty our carpets get.

I purchased this item to replace an old Hoover Steam Vac that I had for many, many years. Since that carpet cleaner got a lot of use over those years and performed well, I wanted to go with the same brand when replacing it. One of the deciding factors in choosing this model over other Hoover models was the “light weight” claim and, while it is certainly lighter than my old model, once filled with water it can still be a little hard to push over carpet -not a real big deal, but worth mentioning . I also liked the addition of the clean water rinse option but, after use, I am not sure I would choose this model again based on that fact. The main problem is that I had to stop and empty the dirty water tank and, also, refill the clean water tank three times after cleaning a relatively small room. It also seems to use more detergent than my old carpet cleaner. As far as cleaning , it seemed to do a decent job – certainly there was a lot of dirty water! Suction seemed to be good also as my carpet dried fairly fast under humid conditions. Removal of both tanks is easier than my last cleaner but, again, having to do so often was more than a little annoying.

I've been able to clean my carpets one section at a time on nights and weekends; It would have cost me more in rental fees than I paid for the cleaner to do the same. The carpet cleaner does a good job removing old and new pet stains, and is light enough to carry up and down stairs easily when it is empty. I could wish that the recovery tank was larger so that it wouldn't fill as quickly, but it is large enough for household purposes.

This product has numerous positive reviews which encouraged me to try it. The price was very reasonable. The water tank is very easy to fill and attach/remove, as is the dirty water tank. my previous cleaner's water tank did not attach easily so this was a key feature I was looking for. The water tank could have been a bit bigger for less refills, but for small jobs, it's not a problem. plus it keeps the weight down with less water. The overall cleaning span could have been a bit bigger when doing larger areas but not a big problem for small jobs. seems to clean well; did need to go over heavy, older spots several times. Have not used any attachments, and have only used it once (for approx. 30 minutes), so am hoping for durability, long use and a quality product.

I have 4 cats. Two of them special needs. Of these 2 one of them uses puppy pads because she can not get into a box. Sometimes she misses the pad. The other one I inherited is a diabetic and somewhat neglected. He would vomit every night and not use the box all the time. Now that the issues are under control, the carpets needed to cleaned or replaced. Replacement seemed out of the question since accidents will continue. I bought the cleaner because of the Hoover name, the light weight and hopefully the ease of use. I was not disappointed. Only had to attach the handle (less than 5 minutes) fill the containers and start cleaning. I was a little trigger happy at first but got better. Carpets (one is old from previous owner) were dry within hours. Used the Hoover pet cleaner and all the stains came out. The "dirty" container filled with horrible black water. A couple of weeks later I did last room and redid parts of the previously cleaned. The previous cleaned had clear water return so the cleaner worked well. My only wish is that the return container top would be easier to clean. The top does not disassemble enough to clean it better or to get all the water out of it. It will be used frequently and will save a bundle on professional services. Love my cleaner.

I’ve used it 3 times and love it so far! It’s really lightweight but so durable! If the suction isn’t working super well all I’ve had to do is remove the dirty water tank and put it back and it fixes the suction issue for me. But so easy to use! I’ve used rented cleaners a lot in my life and this works just as well in my opinion. I’m not sure just how DEEP it gets into the carpet but my carpet is on the thicker side and I haven’t had any issues. I was worried about price for quality when I bought this. I was willing to shell out a bit of money but didn’t want to buy a “professional” cleaner because they were far too expensive. I think there are better ones out there if you’re willing to spend $600-1000 but for the average person this is really great quality for what I spent. I have 3 cats and a dog who can’t grasp the concept of peeing on the hard floor if she needs to have an accident so this has been amazing. We store it downstairs in storage and dragging it upstairs one a month is nothing.

Over the years, I went thru a few Hoover carpet cleaning machines. While I had been satisfied with my past purchases, this one really stood out by its ease of use, powerful suction, and handheld cleaning tool. My current home is around 3400sf, and while it took a few bottles of shampoo to do a couple of passes, I couldn't be happier with the performance. In some areas, the carpet (7 year old) looks almost new!

My first & last carpet cleaner was a Hoover and, since it was a workhorse that lasted 9 years with very heavy use (multiple pet home), I looked at the current Hoover models. It's been 10 years since I had my last Hoover carpet cleaner... Before I began shopping, I expected to spend $300.00 for a model comparable to the model I purchased nearly 20 years ago. Absolutely thrilled to find a machine that does a great job and for half of what I expected to spend! I appreciate the wide cleaning path and power of the FH50150. I've been using it on a medium pile area rug and a Berber-like rug and it's working very well. The power behind the brushes seems more than adequate and the suction pulls up much of the water so drying time is minimal. The medium pile area rug is light beige and badly suffered from wet, muddy paws. After a thorough (and long past due) shampoo, it looks like new. It was nice to find that the soap and water tanks are now separate which allows for the "new" option of rinsing with water only at the flip of a switch. I haven't used the crevice tool but can vouch that the upholstery brush is easy to use and does a good job. I've been very pleased with this purchase and would highly recommend it to friends and family.

Bought this because I have two dogs and my carpets needed a cleaning. It definitely works as advertised. Sucking power could be a little stronger as sometimes I need to go over an area multiple times to get most of the water. Also, a bunch of water solution sometimes spits/collects and vacuum when stopping to change directions. Lastly, water tank could be a little bigger, but I'll take the size/weight tradeoff. I'd buy again and definitely recommend.

We have had several carpet cleaners over the years. Recently, we've owned models from Hoover and Bissell. Having 4 dogs they have gotten their use. I did quite a bit of research before this purchase and ultimately chose this model for its overall value. Pros: Powerful Suction. Separate wash and rinse modes. Very lightweight. Ease of emptying dirty water. Surprisingly large clean water container. Cons: Narrow cleaning area. More frequent need to clean brushes. Delay in changing from wash to rinse mode (it takes a few passes for the lines to actually change from wash to rinse or vice versa. The soap and water are stored higher on the handle so the water lines have to clear) Overall this machine packs a powerful punch yet remains lightweight. It has the features that were important to us like the wash/rinse modes, separate containers for clean and dirty water and easy removal of dirty water. Could be the most powerful suction system out there which could be a result of its narrow cleaning path. If you can find it on sale, you won't be disappointed. It has great cleaning ability.

So glad I bought this machine. It is all that is promised. Wonderful suction, ease of use and better than professional result. Redid what a professional truck mounted machine had shampooed less that 2 weeks previous and got MUCH dirt out of the carpet. Won't call a professional again. I haven't yet done furniture or stairs but have high expectations. Thank you Hoover and Best Buy!

I had an older model that after 15 years wore out. I bought this newer model to replace it. It is easy to use, cleans carpets well and is lighter to carry up stairs than older model. I.gave it a 4 star instead of 5 because the upholstry nozzle leaks, it is hard to shut water flow off. My old one was like that and I didn't use that attachment much. I wish they would fix this. If you only use rug shampooer, it's great, but if you want an upholstry cleaner too, you might want to think twice.

    Exceptionally Clean Carpets

I purchased this carpet shampooer (the Hoover Power Scrub Deluxe) about 1 week after bringing home a new puppy that was still being potty trained in a house where only the kitchen did not have wall to wall carpets. While you may question the sanity of bringing a puppy into such a home, the true insanity is how clean my carpets are now. First, let me say that I use the standard Hoover carpet shampoo with the Bissell pet oxy boost (1 full cap of oxy boost, then fill the shampoo reservoir with the regular shampoo)...wow, that is intense cleaning power. So, I initially brought it home and thought all right lets try this thing out to see how it works, honestly I fully expected I'd be returning it. The 2 compartment design makes filling it super easy. You have one compartment for hot water and one for the shampoo of your choice. This does work with other brands of carpet shampoo, but as of yet my described combo is the best I have found. I usually fill the water compartment first because the shampoo reservoir that is above the water reservoir mixes via a gravity feed and so having the water reservoir open allows a slow trickle of shampoo in if the upper shampoo reservoir is full. Anyway, I got it set up, which was remarkably simple (1 screw to hold the handle on) and figured I try it on one of the stubborn brown puppy stains on the light cream carpet. Keep in mind that I had spent abut 1.5 hours trying to scrub this stain out by hand, to the extent that I was messing up the carpet's pile by scrubbing so much. One pass back and forth over the spot and the stain almost disappeared!!! I was shocked, a second pass and it was gone. I couldn't believe it. It had taken less than 20 seconds to annihilate a stain that I thought had me destined for replacing carpets once my puppy was house broken. So I thought I'd try a stain that had plagued both my wife and I for years, since our youngest son had been 3. He had eaten I don't known what, gotten sick, and stained the rec room carpet permenently, or so I thought. After 6 years of renting carpet cleaners, scrubbing by hand, spot treatments, and 1 hired professional this marvelous machine managed to eliminate any trace of that stain in about 4-5 passes. Since that day we have started putting this gift from the cleaning gods to use on the whole house almost every weekend. It's quick, it easy, and our house has never smelled better. You would not even know we have a pet. Some details: It does do an excellent job sucking the liquid back off the carpet, but it will still take 45 minutes to 1 hour to dry completely. The hand tools are helpful for stairs and upholstery but will not give you even close to the same result as the main brushes and suction...I would say this is expected, nonetheless the hand tools work well for what they are and successfully got our puppy stains and smells off of our carpeted stairs, though I have not tried them on any really tough stains. The dedicated reservoir for dirty water is super heplful. I am consistently amazed by what a weeks worth of filth looks like getting poored out. You do have to vacuum before you shampoo, but that is with all carpet shampooers. It feels quite sturdy and I have put it through quite a bit of cleaning with zero malfunctions. The "auto-shutoff" when the waste water is full is not really a shut off but does work and prevents overflows. The built in carry handles are really convenient and perfect for carrying the reservoirs seperately too. The downsides: It's a little tough to handle on the stairs while trying to also use the hand attachments to clean. No more so than any other shampooer or vacuum, if anything its easier than any of the rented versions I've used. The supposedly long cord (~20ft) is shorter than most vacuums, albeit longer than most shampooers. Fortunately my stairs have an outlet at the top and bottom, otherwise it wouldn't reach all the way from the top to the bottom. Though comparable to in size to most shampooers, I would like a larger water and shampoo reservoir. As it is it is only enough for about 100-180 square feet at a time. I am thorough and probably could make it stretch more, still at least a 50% increase in capacity would be nice. Agreed, it would be heavier and harder to manage on stairs when full I guess. As it is it is ok, but I would personally make the trade of more weight for higher capacity. User error, my 13 year old dragged it down the stairs instead of carrying it and broke the foot peddle to tilt the handle, no fault to Hoover at all. It was actually suprisingly well constructed and I was still able to snap it back on well enough that it can work. Final verdict: if you're in the market for a carpet shampooer this one is spectacularly good. The spinning scrub brushes make a substantial difference over the standard rolling barrel. I highly recommend the Power Scrub Deluxe.

My previous Hoover shampooer stopped spinning the brushes. Taking in apart, the gears in the turbine had stripped, and the turbine blade itself was cracked. Replacement turbines are no longer available. After shopping around, it was clear that this was the best replacement, spec for spec. The biggest problem with all other current units is that they don't allow you to switch from wash to rinse. That is, they don't mix the soap with the water automatically, you have to mix the two ahead of time. The problem with that is, when it's time to rinse, you have to dump out all your current wash mix and rinse the tub before filling with rinse water. So you could have quit a bit of shampoo to just dump down the drain. It's no good to save it since it would be cold for the next wash. After using my old machine, there's no way I would put up with that, so this is the best machine. Another problem with current machines is the smaller size tanks. It felt like I had to go refill and dump twice as often. Not good. So I ordered this machine. When it came, I could not assemble it because the space between the mounting points for the upper tub was too short, and there was no way to mount it. I took it back to best buy and ordered another. Pretty poor quality control. The next machine assembled with no problems. I used it on two bedrooms and it worked okay, but it took much longer than the old machine would have due to the smaller tanks, and the narrower width of the wash head. Oh well, there's nothing else available. Next I started the stairs. I got three stairs done before it quit pumping. I spent hours checking all the connections, and doing what the trouble shooting said to do. No luck. So I took it back again, and looked over the other brands in the store. Ugh. The Bissell's had even smaller tanks and were only premix. I now am without a shampooer. After a week of searching, I realized I better get another one of these. When I went to the web site, they had raised the price $50, so I passed. I see now the price is back down to $159 but I can't talk myself into getting another just yet.

We've rented a carpet cleaner in the past for cleaning up after spills, or our dog having an accident. The bigger rental unit may get the job done slightly faster, but you're throwing money away if you do this often. Buying this unit has totally eliminated the need to rent one, and does just as good a job as the big units. You may need to pass over the spot a couple extra times to get as deep a clean, but at a fraction of the weight and price its worth it. The attachments make spot cleaning a hundred times easier than with a large rental unit. If the dog has an accident, I dont have to clean a 3 foot area and waste shampoo. I can take out the unit, attach the hose and be done in a quarter of the time. The stair attachment is excellent for getting into corners and crevices. Buying this unit was a wise decision and has saved me alot of time and effort. It will pay itself back after just renting a unit 2 or 3 times.

We bought this Hoover Carpet Cleaner after considering a number of options and the cost of either renting or having our carpets cleaned. We are very pleased with the purchase - it's very satisfying to see how much dirt the Cleaner is getting out of the carpet. It has been easy to clean, reliable so far and seems to do a great job. We are using a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water (with a few drops of tea tree oil to improve the odour) rather than purchasing carpet soap, which makes it very inexpensive to operate. And we are can clean the carpet regularly, as well as do other things such as upholstery and car interiors (which I haven't tried yet, but plan to do so.) Overall, I'm very pleased so far.

It does a pretty good job on our carpet with having 2 dogs and young kids. I've also used the attachments and they work well. I recommend getting the warranty. I've had to return it already after a year because a seal broke and liquid leaked out all over. These things aren't made to last. I wish the power cord was longer. Other than that, it meets my needs for the price.
