The hose attachment works well and is easy to use. Having a separate tank for the solution and water makes set up a breeze. It did a great job cleaning, getting out a lot of old, set-in stains, on the first pass. The carpet and furniture dried quickly following the cleaning as well.

We use ours a LOT as we have cats, a dog, and a pet pig. They work great and are easy to use. The first one died when something caused the gears on the rollers to get jammed and basically melted. They do NOT make it easy to get apart and repair it. That is VERY annoying. I should be able to get to that belt with a few screws but nope. If this was easily user serviceable at that level I would go higher in my review because when it works it just works.

Great clean, but poor dry!

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased this carpet cleaner to replace a Hoover spin-brush that was more than 10 years old, and that was heavily used. When I cleaned with that old Hoover, my carpets were clean and dry within a couple of hours. But, sadly, our old spin-brush bit the dust. This model seemed to have the best reviews, and the longevity of our old Hoover had been so good, that we opted for this model. I'm not crazy about the wash forward, dry backward feature....but that may just be a matter of getting used to. And, the machine did a lovely job of cleaning. Also, it is so easy to take apart to clean everything...even the roller brushes, which is amazing to me. After cleaning the carpeting and even using the "dry only" setting...(btw, I hate when they call things "heat" settings...we all know there is no heat) I rinsed the area and then used the dry setting for quite a few swipes to pull the water out of the carpet. Here we are, 36 hours later, and my carpet is still slightly damp in several spots. I'm not very pleased with this at all. In fact, for me, this one issue negates all of the good features of this unit. I want my old Hoover back.

It's been a "few years" since we did anything with the carpets, and I can't believe how much dirt and grime this unit PICKED UP on the FIRST PASS! I decided to use HOT WATER in the tank (like the Bissel uses) and it DOES make a difference! BTW, I've also mixed the OxyClean powder solution into the water tank to help with cleaning and IT WORKS GREAT!!.........The Living room carpet and other rooms needed to be done twice, BUT on the second time around, this SmartWash unit picked up EVEN MORE dirt and grime (we had years of dirt) I would RECOMMEND THIS UNIT in a heartbeat! You CAN'T BEAT it for what it is!! GREAT UNIT and you WON'T be disappointed !!

Our last shampooer was a Bissell and it died after one year. Lesson learned, always by Hoover. It’s amazing to see how dirty the water is in the tank. We have three dogs and this shampoo or keeps up with they’re dirty paws.
