Q: Fixing the belt on the hover smartwash+ fh52000

A: Hoover doesn't sell a replacement belt for this device. When your belt is broken, you are instructed to ship the device back to them and to get a replacement if under warranty. Words can not explain how moronic this is. This is as stupid as you replacing your vehicle when the brakes or tires need replacing.

Q: My Hoover SmartWash is not drying/suctioning water. I have thoroughly cleaned it but it still will not extract water from the carpet.

A: Just had this issue with my Hoover SmartWash Plus, today. I removed the clean water tank and turned on the 'dry only' setting. Then, I relaxed the handle about 180 degrees as I made each pass and the suction/dry function worked again perfectly. It appears that the handle triggers the suction and if the handle is in a more upright position, the suction will not engage.

Q: When I turn my vacuum on the wash and dry light come on together and won’t go off. They are both lit up at the same time and the vacuum won’t spray or suck water. What’s wrong with it?

A: Because it is junk! I have been through 4 of them and they keep on breaking!

Q: Can anyone tell me how well the stair cleaner attachment cleans the stairs? That is my main reason for purchasing this machine. The machines I bought which were advertised as " Hand Held Carpet Machines" did not work very well.

A: I haved used the "stair" attachment for spot cleaning, and it works just as well as the machine, just in a smaller area. I was happy with the hose length as well, but it may not extend all the way up the stairs, so the machine may need to be moved up/down the stairs behind you once you get past the halfway point.

Q: I notice the video and most ads only show it being used on very low pile carpet. I have a room size long pile shag rug I was looking to get this to clean. Will it work with deep pile and shag rugs?

A: Hey Zoe, Thank you for your question! The Hoover - SmartWash + Upright Deep Cleaner should work for your setup. SmartWash has FlexForce™ PowerBrushes that gently remove deep dirt, debris and pet messes from carpets and is good for short pile carpets, while it still gets deep into long pile carpets. However, long pile shag carpet can get matted down and twisted by the brushes of any carpet cleaner, so we don't recommend it for shag on a general basis. If this happens you may need an alternate method to clean your carpet such as a steam cleaner without revolving brushes. Thanks, Joseph - The Hoover Team

Q: i need to replace the brush drive belt. where can i find a replacement?

A: Hoover will not sell them to you. Not sure why. Replacement parts companies don't have them either. BUT- Thank God for Amazon. If you have the FH52000 series ( mine is FH52002 meaning it came from Home Depot) the belts are available on Amazon. The longer belt is 3M-360-6, sometimes listed as 360-3M-6. These numbers refer to the size of the belt in METRIC form. The smaller belt is 3M-144-6 ( or 144-3M-6). The 3M refers to the pitch ,or angle of the cogs. The 360 or 144 refer to the length ( circumference) in mm. The 6 is the belt width in mm. Good luck.

Q: Do the rollers/brushes come off so you can clean them

A: How to Change and Clean Brushes: HOW TO REMOVE To prevent possible leaking, remove Clean Water Tank, Dirty Water Tank and Solution Tank. With the handle in upright position, follow “Nozzle: How to Remove and Clean “instructions. Grab Side A and pull up to remove. Repeat on the other brush. The brushes can be cleaned under running water. HOW TO REPLACE At an angle, align side B on the brush to the drive gear. Press Tab A down until brush snaps in place. Q: Machine is putting out an excessive amount of suds. I tried diluting the cleaning solution, then using no solution—still too many suds. I removed the brush cover & rinsed it & the brushes each time. Suds leave a white film on the carpet.

A: The suds are likely due to the warm water you are using with your machine, or due to the HeatForce feature which is drying the carpet. The white film is created by the warm water being pushed by air through the carpet and up to the surface while cleaning, making it foam. Forget Paying Expensive Carpet Cleaning Services
I love this carpet cleaner (but I do hate cleaning carpets)! I bought this Hoover SmartWash+ since I have a 10 month-old baby that's beginning to crawl. The wife wanted to me to vacuum the high traffic carpet in our family room and I knew that was not going to cut it so I made this purchase. It is pretty simple to use this carpet cleaner. If you can vacuum your carpet then you can use this cleaner. I like the push-to-spray and pull-to-dry feature. No buttons to have to push to dispense water and cleaner. It truly is a smart carpet cleaner. It does as good of a job at cleaning the carpet as any carpet cleaning service and saves money in the long run. I can also clean my carpets when I'm ready to without scheduling issues. I actually got the carpet clean in an area that a professional cleaning service could not clean. The amount of dirt that was picked up shocked me (see photo). This machine is good! Pros: - The design is simple and just about like vacuuming a carpet. - Great value. It will pay for itself after cleaning a few of rooms in your home. - Due to the pull-to-dry feature the area you clean will be dry in about 45 min to an hour. No more 3 hour drying periods to walk through your home. - If you read the instructions it is pretty easy to disassemble and clean the cleaner. - The attachments make it easy to clean more than just the carpet. Cons: - The instruction manual doesn't mention it but the Water Tank and Solution Tank probably need to dry fully before putting away the cleaner to avoid mold build-up in either. I had to sit the two near a sunny window to promote evaporation of the water from the top openings. It would be nice if Hoover made it easier to dry these out for quicker storage. - You can only clean one room of about 17' x 17' on one full tank of water. (though I believe the cleaner would be difficult to use if the tank had a larger capacity.

Works REALLY WELL !
Works REALLY WELL ! Even though on a survey it’s listed smack dab in the middle on scale of 1 - 10, it cleans like a BEAST! Light-weight. Auto wash forward - rinse/vacuum dry backing up; bristles did great too. Made an old carpet look new! The DRY button on the top seems to help dry the carpet faster than other units. It is super easy to put together, fill up, we chose the no mix solution, the 2 sections ( 1 clean water 1 dirty water) was easy to take apart to clean, The bristles were even easy to clean. Highly recommend! Best $$ we’ve paid for such a unit! I’d even recommend this to an enemy, if I had any!!!

Awesome
This has got to be the best cleaner I have ever used, and easy to use. The automatic wash and dry buttons are great. I did a entire 1200ft home on wood floors and carpet and did the white glove test nothing left in carpets or floors. This was done in a few hours not all day!!! I have limitations on my neck and not once did I hurt. The water is spread out evenly and does not saturate in the carpet. Pressing the button to have a dry clean shows exactly all the water necessary to pull out of floor. Normally we would wait to walk on it, but not with this on wooden floors it’s drying in front of your sweeps. Love love love - better than those commercials you rent- and it’s in your closet in case of a unexpected stain or spill.
