However the gears that drive the brushes are made out of nylon, which strip out fast making a high speed grinding/wining noise. I don't know what hoover was thinking with such a horrible material to use for gears that drive a brush on carpet. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this until they fix their design flaw. I'm going through warranty procedures with hoover and I am out of a carpet cleaner for weeks at a time.
