You can use the Wii remote by itself, but with the steering wheels it gives you better handling and the B button on the back is a perfect size that helps you drift. Great product!

Using the wheel makes for a better experience and more of a real feel of driving then trying to hold the ends of a Wii remote. Recommend this item for the racing games for sure!

If you're a major nerd like myself this a must have item but if not them don't worry. The wheel in my opinion doesn't make it any easier or harder to play the game. Just adds to your level of fandom.

Mario Kart was souch fun with the steering wheel. I currently have a Wii and will upgrade to Wii U soon. I love that I can use the steering wheel with both systems.

Truthfully, you don't need these, the Wii remotes function well enough without it. But if you're having guests over for a game of Mario Kart these little steering wheels become much more relevant. It's such a gag to see your friends tilt and twist in their seats trying to control their Karts in a race.

This is how we spend family time with our 7 year old play some fun games. When are home on the weekend we put some time apart to have family fun.

I dont feel that this game can truly be experienced any other way than without the wheel. The game is tons of fun but incorporating the wheel makes it so much more fun. The price for this peripheral is cheap and it brings two. Sure enough it is not ultra high technology but for its price its good.

If your going to buy the mario race cars you need the wheel to be able to get the most experince. LOL
