However, they express disappointment regarding the lack of rumble and vibration support, as well as its inability to be used wirelessly. Additionally, some customers report that the product drains battery quickly, though concerns about drift are not prevalent.

    Solid Handheld Mode Controller

The Hori Split Pad Pro is a highly regarded Pros: • Ergonomics: The larger grips make it more comfortable to hold compared to the standard Joy-Con, especially for extended gaming sessions. • Full-Sized Buttons: Provides a more traditional controller feel with responsive, full-sized analog sticks and buttons. • Extra Features: Includes assignable rear triggers and turbo functionality, which can enhance gameplay for certain games. Cons: • Handheld Mode Only: It doesn’t have its own battery, so it only works when attached to the Switch. It won’t function as a standalone wireless controller. • No Motion Controls or Rumble: If you rely on features like HD Rumble or motion controls, you’ll miss out with this controller. • Bulkiness: While comfortable, the added size can make the console less portable. This is a solid choice for players who prioritize comfort and control in handheld mode, particularly for action games, RPGs, or shooters. Also have Turbo for those who care about that

Probably the best third party controller for the switch. I don’t mind the lack of vibration but the lack of gyroscope is unfortunate. Otherwise this controller is drastically more comfortable to use instead of the tiny joycon Nintendo includes with the device

Super comfortable and ergonomic, especially for FPS games. Wish I had this set when I played through DOOM, but I'm actively realizing the benefits in other games like Fortnite. The ONLY reason for 4 stars instead of 5? No rumble! Kinda weird to use the word "Pro" in its name if the controller doesn't have vibration, but oh well. Also, these can only be used handheld, not wirelessly. That doesn't bother me so much, since that's my intended use, but it might come as a surprise to others. An awesome product otherwise!

Feels WAAAAY better than the joycons in the hands and the programmable buttons are perfect if you play fighting games or are shiny hunting pokemon. AND ITS CHARIZARD.

Very ergonomic controller. Dpad and joysticks are awesome to use. If you have large hands like me this is a must have for extended play times. Joy cons would cause my hands to cramp up after an hour use. Only downside is there is no rumble but can live without it. May be a deal breaker for some but otherwise this controller is awesome!

    Ultimate handheld comfort

This controller is WAY more comfortable than any other handheld solution. I also own the Satisfye grip, and while that is an improvement over the bare joy cons, the split pad pro is nearly as comfortable as the pro controller. On top of it being the most comfortable, the analog sticks are way better than those on the joy cons. The extra buttons are a nice addition, but I don't really ever use them. You don't get motion controls or rumble, but I feel like the comfort level outweighs those negatives. This controller is absolutely worth the $50 I spent on them.

A must for handheld mode, the joy cons won't cut it. Only downside is no rumble or gyro, but the pros outweigh the cons here for sure. Much more comfortable and ergonomic!

Much better quality than official Joycons and for a lower price. I'm loving the grip and shape, they feel more natural and balanced than the Joycons, as well. The sticks are sturdier and much less likely to jam/break, and the buttons don't get stuck or stop functioning. This is the type of design that Nintendo SHOULD have gone with.

This controller is great for handheld gaming only. Just know this will NOT work wirelessly. If you intend to play on the go, this is the best and most comfortable for just that! Everything is very responsive and theres no ghosting. I used this to finish Zelda TOTK with 0 cramping after long sessions… i chose this over the compact version because my hands are a bit bigger.

    Best Controller for the Switch!

These Hori controllers for the Nintendo Switch are great! I find it gives my Switch the feel of an actual controller, unlike the Joy cons. This is a much better setup, doesn't need charging, and are what the Switch should have came with. They are also ultra responsive! Great product and very comfortable!

Great d-pad. Good analog sticks. Good face buttons. Decent grip design - it doesn't feel as comfortable as something like the Satisfye grip, but it's better than just the joy-cons. It does make the unit *very* long. No rumble, and no wireless. Biggest disappointment are the back buttons: they can only be programmed to a corresponding button on each half. That makes the left one pretty useless for a lot of use cases.

I want to start this review off by saying this product is for handheld mode ONLY. Reviewers leaving negative comments didn't read the description of the item, nor did they read the box the item came in. Excellent product. Excellent price. Definitely increases the comfort of handheld mode which is perfect when I want to watch football and game at the same time. The controller has a matte type finish which is good for those with sweaty hands or long game sessions. Grip remains fantastic and hands stay comfortable.

I have really enjoyed this and find it to be the best solution for the standard joycons issues during extended handheld play. It feels better in the hands (much lighter than I expected), joy sticks are smooth and not too touchy, and the lost long D pad makes a very accepted return. I do wish the buttons weren't as loud for nights I play in bed next to my partner. All in all, best solution I've found so far (Fingers crossed for a better switch pro handheld comfort).

The controller is large enough that my hands are comfortable when operating the sticks. There are turbo buttons that you can assign on each controller, but they aren’t intuitive to use. The plastic material and buttons feel sturdy and durable. It’s definitely worth the upgrade if you are tired of the default joycons cramping your hands.

Hori split pads is of great design and great quality. It has added back trigger buttons that can be programmed. However, it lacks a number of important features: 1. No vibration 2. No Gyro sensor 3. No bluetooth (own work when attached) Without these features, you cannot enjoy AAA titles like Zelda BOTW. Many games also has vibration, so when using Hori split pads, i miss the vibration features even if gyro sensor features are not that common with games.

Bought this a second time; one for me, one for my brother. It's so comfortable; I prefer it over the standard joy cons. It doesn't vibrate; if that's a major factor for you, I wouldn't get them. But if you're like me and indifferent about that, you'll love them.

Changed my entire Switch experience when handheld. My fingers used to get numb from the scrunched button/hand placement after playing for more than 15 minutes... the hori split pad totally resolves the issue, 1000x more comfortable. Only downside is that they aren't powered/don't feature rumble support.
