outstanding from start to finish. This game has almost everything from great graphics to an even better story. The only thing this game doesn't have is multi player. This is a very long game with plenty to discover and weapons to try out. So many upgrades to both weapons and armor to keep you busy for a very long time. I highly recommend this game to anyone that enjoys a great story and graphics.

It's definitely one of the best open world games on the market. The game has a good story, challenging gameplay and absolutely top tier graphics and art. On PS4 Pro in 4K it is quite something to marvel at.

    Mankind's Last Hope

Horizon: Zero Dawn is developer Guerilla Games' first departure from the Killzone series for which they are known, and to play Horizon, you would never guess that. In Horizon, Guerilla goes from gritty, sci-fi first-person shooter to open world RPG, and it feels like they've finally found their niche. Don't get me wrong, I loved Killzone 2 and 3 (though admittedly never finished Shadowfall), but Horizon: Zero Dawn is easily the best thing the studio has ever done. In the game, humanity has all but been destroyed. In a sort of nod to The Terminator and The Last Of Us, after a technological apocalypse, mankind has returned to living in tribes and using the resources of the land. Nature has retaken areas that once saw highways and skyscrapers and hostile machines roam the land. You play as Aloy, a young woman played by Ashly Burch (Tiny Tina in Borderlands 2, Chloe in Life Is Strange) cast out of the tribes for not knowing her mother. Desperate for acceptance, she trains to win "The Proving" a contest whose victory poses one of the only opportunities for an outcast to become part of the tribe. But things take a turn and she realizes that greater things are at play. Aloy's journey is a relatable one full of great writing, dialogue, and voice acting. The world is well realized and, as with any Guerilla game, a beautiful sight to behold. The gameplay is tight and responsive and you should find yourself quickly leveling up as it's easy to get lost in hunting the variety of machines you find out in the world. The last game I played with this level of quality was Red Dead Redemption. It took me roughly 70 hours to get the Platinum on this game. If you're looking for a great holdover till the next big open world game comes out (RDR2, I'm looking at you), get Horizon: Zero Dawn. You won't regret it. All-mother be praised.

Bought this as part of the Days of Play promotion and wish I did sooner. This game is nothing short of amazing. You play as Alloy, an outcast shunned by the Nora tribe. She comes in town to prove she is more than just that. Combat is fluid, the story is vast, and the graphics are out of this world. This game alone is worth a PS4 pro. I say that with the utmost confidence. You’ve got to experience one of the most impressive original games of all time, immediately.

Horizon: Zero Dawn looks visually stunning and is easy to pick up and play. The games difficulty progression ramps up the further out into the vast lands you traverse. The game is very similar to other open world games like Zelda Breath of the Wild and the Far Cry series with a mysterious and wonderful story that will hold on to you until you uncover what really is going on. Great experience must buy for anyone interested in open world long game play experiences.

Sony has done it again, they made another single player game that was worth waiting for. The graphics is one of the best looking games I have seen. The open world is so detailed and the lighting is amazing, how sunlight passes through the trees. I was sceptical of the combat from the trailers but after playing it, I have to say it's pretty fun. Each machine has a weakness and you have to adapt to every single one. So far this could be the game of the year for sony.

Horizon's unique meshing of wilderness and high technology continuously left me mesmerized. In addition, the photo mode, with which I spent many hours, allowed me to appreciate this game's unique aesthetic even more. The true origins of the world that you explore, and the true origins of the protagonist, Aloy, are some of the most fascinating science fiction plot points I've ever seen. The revelations you come across somehow make the stakes of your adventure seem impossibly high, yet immensely personal, and it was a balance I was delighted to see they struck. Horizon has dozens of ways to tackle any combat scenario, but it's combat variety doesn't just exist, its required. Taking down each machine in the game required me to switch up my strategies regularly, and to prepare for combat well in advance. But most importantly, the characters in this game spoke to me most. Aloy is one of my favorite characters I've met in any video game, and I felt just as invested in her journey as she did herself. Plus, her ferocious spirit, compassionate heart, and ability to take the higher ground when she is dealt a bad hand allowed me to love her even more. I even found myself rooting for the side characters, of which there are many waifus & husbandos. Seeing them grow and develop during Aloy's journey warmed my heart. In addition, this game was able to deliver a varied, gorgeous, gripping, and huge scaled experience in just under 50 hours, and I appreciate the respect of my time now that I split my time between work and school so often. And the climax of Aloy's emotional journey that takes place at the very end of the game was so touching, I teared up. So, yea, it's my favorite game of all time. Please play this game.

From the team that brought you the drought and dreary world of Killzone comes Horizon Dawn. There is nothing dreary about this game. The worlds are vibrant and lush. Enemies are unique. Just when you think you have seen them all, a new type appears. It combines elements from all the best games and literally puts it into one package. PRO: Open World Amazing Graphics Deep story Unique missions. CON So much to do, that I I will never finish this game.

One thing that Horizon has going against it is that it's an adventure title that feels very similar to the latest Zelda title, Breath of the Wild. Since I played that game, Horizon felt like more of the same, though both of the games have their perks. For one, I love the RPG elements of Horizon. The skill tree keeps things fresh as you're moving along through the game. The combat is tight as well, with enemies having multiple weak points that you can target for an advantage. And of course it's beautiful in all forms of its presentation (though it's music is a bit forgettable—though in an ambient world like this metal post-apocalypse, perhaps it's also forgivable). Horizon does suffer from a few things, but nothing I'd consider docking serious points for. You feel a little too locked down here and there through the game. Movement is fluid when you're on the same plane, but sometimes, moving up and down gets a bit annoying. About thirty hours in, the game starts to feel a bit redundant as well. While combat is refreshing, and there are a handful of enemies more than you get in that other 2017 adventure game, it still grows stale as you push through the game. To top it off, some fights against certain enemies or groups end up feeling really cheap. No matter what skills you've dumped points into, or how well you play, certain things just don't play out well for you. All in all, though, Horizon is a game that I'm happy to have spent a lot of time in. The world is gorgeous and fully realized, I love sneaking up on my enemies and shooting an arrow through an important component that causes them to explode, and Aloy's story is powerful enough to want to see it through to end. I would certainly recommend it.

2017 is great year for open world games

Zelda: Breath of the Wild was my first big open world game this year, and given my love for that game and immense admiration for the ways in which it improved upon and subverted so many open-world tropes, I was sure that there would be no more room in my life for a fantasy open-world adventure game for a long time. Having played Horizon, I can confidently say that is not the case. I've enjoyed Guerrilla's work for some time now, and believe them to be the developers of some of the best looking games out there, especially since this latest generation. Say what you will about the story and gameplay of Killzone: Shadow Fall, that game began the PS4 cycle with a bang, and very few games since then have matched it in terms of graphical prowess. And Horizon is an improvement in every way. Technically, the graphics are noticeably improved, but far more impressive is the gorgeous art design, attention to detail, and obvious time and effort spent making every vista one that makes you just want to stop and stare for awhile. And hey, it's got a pretty good photo mode in there too. And all this is to say nothing of the other areas where this game shines. Gameplay is fun, engaging and, to an extent, fairly unique among its genre. The world that has been built is fascinating, intriguing, and always has something new to explore or find around the next corner. The characters (at least the central ones) are fleshed out and are successful agents to drive the story forward. All in all, if you have any interest in a game that is still very much an open world game (yes, there are towers you climb to open up your map), I can't recommend Horizon Enough. Do yourself a favor and at least give it a chance.
