Guerrilla has created a fantastic open world that is filled with a great story, smooth and challenging combat, and a rewarding sense of discovery. Horizon also may be the prettiest game I have ever seen. Totally recommended.

If you have played any open world game especially Ubisoft style games then you have a good idea of what this game is. The difference is the story is captivating and the graphics are amazing and it plays great. This is the pinnacle of this kind of open world game and takes ideas from all of those types of games but makes them better.

From the moment you start playing Horizon Zero Dawn, a few things become clear: 1.The controls and way this game handles feel very familiar to fans of the genre. Very easy to get a handle on than say, the Witcher III. 2. The story and opening is long - about 5-7 hours before you really get into the thick of it, but it is good. 3. The combat system is simple to understand but difficult to master, but gives you a ton of flexibility in planning out your attack. 4. If you have a 4k HDR TV, the graphics and art direction in this game are phenomenal. You will catch yourself just looking at the environments. 5. This is a unique and incredible story - breathes life into this new IP. You will want to spend 30-50 hours in this game. Go buy it.

Wonderfully immersive rpg. The most beautiful game I’ve ever played. I usually skip side quests and race for the end but I completed every one because I wanted to experience every aspect of this game. Good story, decent customization, awesome gameplay.

I'm not usually one to buy games like these (open world rpg type games) but after looking up some game play videos of it I decided to buy it. The combat and the story are both amazing and there's so much to do in it. There's main quests, side quests, outposts that you have to overrun. I didn't think I would like the game at first because the only things you can really use are a bow and arrow and other things like that but it actually isn't bad and I'm enjoying the change. Also a lot of people are comparing this to Far Cry but the only thing that I find similar to far cry is just the open world. This game reminds me a lot more of the Tomb Raider reboots. Highly recommend picking it up if you want a game that you can sink many hours into.

I’m 25 hours in and at about 23% completion. I’m a fan of this genre of games, but this one stands out due to the innovative story line, inventive play system, awesome graphics and sound. I love getting derailed on side quests while slowly anticipate the developing story. I highly recommend it if you have a PS4.

First impression of the game was that it’ll be another boring open world game. I don’t like open worlds. But after the first 3 hours of playing, I was so immersed in the world and story that I kept play. Graphics are beautiful and I bought it for a great price at bestbuy. But my wife won’t let me play too more.

With Horizon Zero Dawn Guerrilla Games (Killzone franchise) has created what may be the greatest visual experience in gaming to date. Not only does it look great it has an intriguing story, is incredibly immersive and is a lot of fun to play. As Aloy you are tossed into a large open world that feels as exciting as it does dangerous. It has far exceeded all of my expectations and if it continues to be as good as it has been I'm confident it will earn a spot as one of my favorite games of all time. A must play title for everyone that has a PlayStation 4.

I am in awe when I play this. I haven't upgraded to a PS Pro & it is gorgeous lush colors that are stampeded out by even more robust & outlandish metal creatures that inhabit this world. The dialogue can be long but you gather info for each mission the leveling up is honest & fair it took a lil time to figure out the whole inventory & what I wanted to equip when battling these creatures throughout the massive map. Some games promise open world but you are restricted or bored not the case here as you are free to explore & the environments will reflect regions as you do this making you crave more areas & creatures. This game will be the start of a franchise that evolves & shines on the Playstation

This game is not your typical 3rd person shooter. You fight against mechanical dinosaurs and humans alike. You normally use your bow and arrow and your spear, but there are options to also use traps. You forage for items for crafting (getting stuff from animals can be a bit distracting and frustrating) and can choose to scavenge and collect as you choose. There are also ways to craft buffs, traps, etc. Skill building trees are also different, with varying skills to unlock, not just your typical ones. The story so far is interesting. The game is open world, so you can spend hours exploring, hunting, scavenging, leveling up, etc... Also plenty of side quests as well. I like it so far.

This is the best game of the year and among the greatest games ever made. The story is good but the gameplay is phenomenal, so versatille, and the graphics, most beautiful on the ps4. Can't praise this game enough. Simply amazing

It took an hour or two for this game to hook me, it didn't have the strongest intro. And frankly the gameplay is less about doing anything new and ground breaking and instead feels like a combination of some of the best aspects you'll recognize from other games you've played. But overall it's an incredibly game. Some of the best graphics on PS4, especially considering it's a more demanding open world game. The story is really good. The combat is really satisfying, using bow and arrow shoot components off of machines. Speaking of which, the machines in the game are really imaginative and look incredible. If you own a PS4, there's no reason not to own this game.

One of the biggest games to come out for the PS4. Huge open world gameplay, intricate skill trees to complete. Partake on missions to hunt animal zoids. What more can you ask for. Lastly, this game showcases the Decima graphics engine which imo is on heck of a 4k wonder. Get this game!

Horizon is a game I've wanted for a while, but it came out at a busy time for me. Right next to Breath of the Wild, so it kinda got knocked down my backlog peg until I finally snagged it for around $20. At that kind of price point, buy the game. No more review needed. But, ignoring price, there is some things that I see as positives and negatives to the game. Places where it could be so much more than it is, and places where it actually exceeded my expectations. The biggest place where my expectations were exceeded are performance and graphics. I play on a standard PS4, so I kind of expected some choppy frame rates here and there, and maybe some blurriness. But the game is for the most part, rock solid 30FPS and the graphics are gorgeous. Not just on the environment, but the characters as well. You can really tell the art department earned a major bonus and vacation here. I can imagine those with Pros and 4K displays are in for a treat. Gameplay-wise, I'm not as sold. There's plenty of approaches to combat, but the game also easily allows you to brute force everything. The game seems to wants a degree of resource management and stealth, but stuff is so plentiful, you can just go in blasting and walk out fine with fully stocked supplies. The difficulty will be what you make of it, but knowing the out of brute force is basically always there, it takes away a lot of tension that would otherwise be present when fighting a giant robot dinosaur. My other complaint is that the traversal in the game just isn't as free as it could be. For such a detailed open world, climbing is all done via convenient yellow moss and incredibly convenient hand grabs. All the climbing basically feels like autoscrolling. The game isn't as open as the world it's in, and that can be a bit disappointing. I also feel there's a bit of imbalance between Robot and Human encounters. I won't touch spoilers, but the story is very interesting. It certainly isn't perfect, and maybe I'm just cynical, but if you're familiar with sci-fi stories you'll probably pick up on whats happening pretty quick. The performances are stellar though, so even if you see the plot right away, it's still a fun ride. Even the sidequests, for the most part, have the same meat levels as main the story, so the game rarely feels padded at all. Easily a good recommendation, a solid exclusive for Sony, and I'm sure a franchise in the making. A single playthrough doing everything will range around 40 to 50 hours.

Horizon: Zero Dawn was expected to be a good game when considering all the hype and marketing behind it. It delivered on all expectations and then some. Made by the company that made the Killzone franchise, this game is an open-world action RPG that is part Zelda, part Tomb Raider and part Far Cry. There's a weapon crafting system, stealth gameplay, cinematic sequences and a deep enriching story of wonder and suspense. There's easily 50-100 hours of gameplay to be had depending on the type of player you are. This is arguably the best looking PlayStation 4 exclusive so far, even topping Uncharted 4's graphics in my opinion. This is one not to be missed!
