This is a meaty game with an interesting setting that is among the best in the PS4's library. It looks and runs great, it has a satisfying world to discover and an engaging story. Unless you are completely new to gaming, I would recommend playing this on Hard Mode to begin, it provides the right amount of challenge. If you put in enough time and carefully take the time and effort to upgrade your character and complete all the side missions, you will upgrade your character's abilities to a satisfactory level where you are quite powerful and can do some awesome things in the game. Its a great game to explore and do a side mission or two every evening.

Many new games are built on top of old games, contain the same old mechanics and general game play. HZD is a new and fresh game. Graphics look very good, and the game play is very smooth and entertaining. The story is deep and interesting. Pre ordered the DLC already. Good purchase.

A new series for Sony, Horizon Zero Dawn came out of the gates running. Some of the very best visuals on console with great character work and combat. There is plenty to keep you busy from fighting giant robotic machines to hunting and find resources to improve yourself.

Horizon throws the player into a post-apocalyptic world, littered with remnants of past civilizations, where humanity works to survive against a wilderness inhabited by machines. The machines are (you guessed it) machine creatures that span in size from the small to building size. You play as Aloy, and outcast from birth, and set out to discover the mysteries behind the machines, the people before you (the 'metal world'), and where you (Aloy) came from. Aloy is a charming, compassionate protagonist who was taught by her guardian from an early age the way to survive and fight. Most open world games these days follow a simple formula: Giant map, lots of unnecessary collectibles, structures that when scaled will reveal more of the map, outposts full of bad guys, and other hazards along the way. Horizon is similar but different. The map is huge, and full of resources to collect, but they are all important. Collecting of plants and other fauna for health and crafting supplies is necessary. There is an abundance of them and it's easy to collect and move on. There are 'structures' that when scaled will reveal more of the map, but these are very well done and I don't want to spoil anything. Each machine also contains valuable crafting materials, and taking them down is fun and refreshing thanks to a great combat system. There are several types of weapons: bow, spear, tripcaster (allows you to lay trip wires), and others. Each machine has a weakness and weakpoints that should be targeted in combat. In my opinion, it's best to approach stealthy, but if you are noticed, the stuff can hit the fan and it can get pretty frantic. You can locate machine enemy weak points by using your 'focus' a gadget from the 'metal world' that Aloy finds early on. Think of it as a high tech scanner that gives you important information on the fly. You are also able to craft ammo for your weapons, like arrows, on the fly during combat. Run into a machine that has a canister that will explode if exposed to fire? If you have the materials you can craft some (or switch if you already have some made) with ease. If you find yourself up close you can do a light or heavy attack with your spear. This can get clunky if you're not positioned carefully. Maybe I'm just spoiled by Nioh. Graphic wise, Horizon is hands down the best looking game I have ever seen. The world is GORGEOUS! I don't know how long my mouth was open in awe of it. Character models are great too. Facial animations can be derpy occasionally, but it doesn't hurt the experience. I don't like using too many cliches, but the game's visuals took my breath away. The last open world game I was truly in awe of was the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. With Horizon, I am constantly having 'stepping out of the sewers for the first time' (Oblivion reference) moments of awe. The game is doing a tremendous job of making me care about Aloy and I want to learn more about her and the world. I took a break from Nioh to play Horizon, and ended up playing 6 hours straight, it's that good.

Such a great game. Open world games are starting to get a little stale, but this actually has a great plot that keeps you coming back. Great graphics. The controls are also very fluid. Sitting at about 30 hours in the game now and have still not explored the whole map.

This is beautiful graphically, even without PS4 Pro. It is definitely a great new IP worth the hype. I was a fan of Guerilla after Killzone but this is something special. If not for Uncharted 4, this is a true system seller. I havent finished the game yet but it definitely has its loops that are addictive and the story is more engaging than other similar games in the genre. I appreciate the weapon variations and the mobility of the main character. The A.I. are so-so and the missions can be somewhat repetitive but that is normal with open worlds. This is a cut above the rest and deserves game of the year honors.

Amazing and intriguing storyline, and the graphics is just breath taking. Gameplay is great- fighting machines and ripping them apart. Huge open world and a ps4 exclusive. The game is huge and takes hours to complete if you play all side missions and main missions. At least 30 hours of game play time. Cut scenes are a bit boring to sit through and the dialogue selections feels like tedious and tiring, but then the gameplay and amazing graphics make up for it. RECOMMENDED for any ps4 owners and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for PS4 PRO owners as the pro will make the colors of horizon pop on a 4K screen :). This is made for PS4 PRO

This has the best 4K graphics I have seen on PS4. The game play is very smooth and looks nearly like a movie. I recommend this game because of its open world laid back game play and especially if you have a 4K TV. The inly drawback is that it is single player only.

I had high hopes for the game since it is a PlayStation exclusive and to say it surpassed my expecatations is an understatement. This is not only one of the best games out right now but it's one of the best games ever made. I'm 45ish hours into the game and I can't get enough. I haven't finished it yet but I know I'm pretty close to the game end so I'd say you could easily get about 50 hours out of the game. Maybe even more. Beautiful open world with mechanized robots that are reminiscent of dinosaurs, great story and fun combat. There is nothing else I could want out of this game. It's a must own. Thanks for reading!

I've always loved playing RPGs, and this one is definitely up there on my favorites. The graphics are great (not the best I've seen, but the mouth movements are on point), the game play is fun and understandable and the story line is engrossing. 8/10 would recommend.

This was my first entry into RPG gaming and I was blown away. Cannot compare to previous rpgs such as skyrim or witcher but the world and graphics feel so alive. In addition, the story keeps you wanting more and with sequels coming soon, you don't want to miss out.

The gameplay is excellent within a beautiful world. As the player progresses, the enemies and strategies very enough to maintain player interest. The world is interesting and begs exploration. Missions are variably interesting. Voice acting is mediocre for NPCs and good for the main protagonist. The storytelling is mediocre, but the story itself is compelling.

Best PS4 game of 2017 so far in my opinion. Nothing bad to say, stellar game play and story and graphics. Remains challenging even at higher levels. buy it, just do it.

This game is very close to a masterpiece. Excellent story with a very likable protagonist and awesome gameplay. Not to mention the amazing graphics. If you own a PS4 and haven't played this game, you're really missing out. Definitely game of the year material.

This the best game I have played in a very long time. You are in an open world fighting robot beasts! I played on a pro attached to a 4K and it is absolutely stunning! I usually trade in my games after I have finished them but this one is staying with me.

Smooth game play, great graphics and a story that keeps you coming back. This is not my normally kind of game as I tend towards games I can play in smaller chunks but this game really holds my interest and is not too hard if the correct difficulty is selected.

Horizon Zero Dawn is another fantastic PS4 exclusive that makes buying a Playstation worth it over any other gaming console. The story and gameplay are fantastic and engrossing. Won't take you long to get hooked and you'll be in for hours of entertainment.

This game is phenomenal and easily one of the best I've ever played. It's mixture of open world exploration and combat mix so well it's almost perfect. No doubt, Horizon is on my top five games of all time and I recommend it to everyone who owns a PS4.

This is an incredible game. I picked it up for my wife, watching her play the graphics are impressive and very detailed. I have started it myself and am enjoying the story. A nice thing to find a good story driven game in a world of online multiplayer.
