Hoya Filters - the best there are

I use UV filters on all my lenses as lens protectors. I was excited that Best Buy decided to carry Hoya, because tests have shown that Hoya filters let more light through than any others. So I bought for all my best lenses. Besides lens protection these filters also help reduce glare and stay cleaner easier...See attached pix. Two other good reasons besides basic lens protection. So yes I absolutely recommend them.

This filter allows natural light in and I can just wipe away the rain drops or dust all while protecting my lens. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my expensive lens is protected. I once dropped the filter and it didn't break, which proved it that it is made from a strong material.

On my 24-70mm 2.8 lens, I put this UV Filter on there and the pictures are as clear as I didn't have a filter. Expense UV Filter but it's worth it and worth to protect your investment.

This item is a 2-in-1: it’s both a filter and a lens protector. For the price, I think it’s great because I know my camera lens will be protected. It is very easy to install out of the wrapping. Just twist it on the lens and... voila!

Love that this filter is anti static, and its shallow profile makes it acceptable for wider angle lenses. It is very light and feels sturdy. The filter threads properly unlike cheap imitations. It also has virtually no effect on exposure.

Filter absorbs ultraviolet light and antistatic coating help to repel dust. Perfectly fits on my Nikon lens providing excellent protection to keep lens glass scratch free. I have not noticed any distortion caused by filter.

Hoya is the go to brand for me and I love this filter. I have it paired with my new Sony f/2.8 16-35mm GM lens and it works great. Easy to install in seconds.

So happy with this UV filter. I had bought an inexpensive filter for my new lens. However dust was constantly sticking to this filter. Also after a few uses, it soon had many fine stratches on the filter. Over time this was affecting the image quality of my photos. At a photography course, the instructer recommended spending money to get a good UV filter. Reason: it is always on the camera so you use it every time you shoot. I had a great lens that was being degraded by a poor quality UV filter. So I took the plunge and bought this filter. What a difference! Any dust is easily puffed away. No stratches. Nice clean photos!

Not much to review. It's just a UV filter and it threads on correctly. No cloudiness or any other problems. Dust hasn't had time to stick, so anti static hasn't come into play. Like I said, not much to review.

Doesn't seem to degrade image

I bought this only to protect a new lens (something I am beginning to question as a regular strategy). However, it is rated to pass-through a very high percentage of light and doesn't seem to degrade images (from my limited experimentation). And, it's way cheaper than a new lens (although it isn't "cheap" by any means). If you are determined to protect a lens, this is probably the way to go (DO NOT BUY A CHEAP FILTER - it will detract from your images and reduce the *speed* of your expensive lens).

Only great filters go on my high end glass. Hoya's UV filter is the right choice to protect high performance Nikkors.
