On the 6th use, the Chrome keyboard locked up. Then randomly shutdown 4 x. I just missed my return period to BestBuy. I shut it down completely and turned on again. Same problem. Waited 15 minutes then keyboard was unfrozen by itself. DoNOT buy

I kept saying it was up to date. We are at 100 now. I even tried to change it to the beta channel. Still nothing. It keeps saying it is up to date. Powerwashed it. Same thing. Sending it back. Oh, and it is heavy af!

Marred by silly design decisions

If you plan on using this on anything but a flat surface, DO NOT get this. The slightest move of the keyboard makes the trackpad click on its own, if the keyboard isn't on a flat surface. Also, the choice of 64GB of eMMC storage is silly for the price point. Storage is super slow.

Called HP, trying to resolve this and other related issues. They asked me to return it for repair. Then they returned it to me not repaired. Called Best Buy to return the item, but was told that it was past the 15 day return window. I’m not impressed!

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this Chromebook to replace a failing android tablet, most of my usage is sitting at the kitchen counter, not holding it in my hands. That said, the tablet is pretty heavy, but that weight and metal body give it a very sturdy feel. It took a little time to adjust to the Chrome operating system, but everything works well and it is pretty speedy. I do use a number of Android apps, mostly games, but also newspaper apps and find that the Android apps run smoothly. Battery life seems good as it only needs charging once a day. I do use it for 4-5 hours every day. The only downside to battery life is that when the unit is not in use and sleeping the battery drain is higher than the Android tablets I have had. Chrome OS does not seem to have any tools to adjust what runs while sleeping. Chrome OS also doesn't have some of the other options that Android tablets have, like controlling whether the GPS is on or if location is being shared. It also doesn't allow control of app background processing. The pen works well, although I did not buy it for the pen. A couple of reviews complained about the speakers. For me they are fine, plenty of volume, not very good bass response, but that was expected. For the $300 sale price I think it is an excellent value and would recommend it to my family and friends.
