Chromebooks have come along way!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I will start by saying that Chromebook laptops have come a long way since the very first time I tried one about 2 years ago. Two years ago, I heard about Chromebook laptops and decided to give one a try because of the price, but immediately returned it because it just felt cheap, it was slow, and it was basically unusable without internet. That said, I am glad I decided to give this 2-in-1 HP touchscreen Chromebook laptop a chance because after using this daily for about 2 weeks, my opinions on Chromebooks laptops have changed for the better. I will share some of my favorite features as well as a couple of things I wish were better. Speedy Processor 4/5 I am not a computer tech, so understanding processors or keeping up with the newest processor is just something I don’t get, but I give this processor 4 stars because it can handle multitasking well. It did the job watching videos, browsing, and even some light gaming like Fall Guys/Marvel vs Capcom 3. I tried playing some more graphic heavy games like Mortal Kombat 10, and it basically froze on me. I do not intend to use this for gaming, but having the option for light gaming as advertised is welcomed. Intel UHD Graphics 5/5 Again, I don’t really understand what the Intel UHD Graphics means as far as performance, but I downloaded the Beta version of Steam on ChromeOS, and I saw my full library in there. I was unable to download some games because they only ran on Windows, but most of them I was able to download and try out. Don’t expect to push heavy graphic games since it’s technically not a graphics card to my understanding. Light gaming on a Chromebook though, super cool feature for me! If it can handle light gaming, it will handle any work-related tasks without issues as longest you are not a video producer. 8GB of RAM 4/5 The last Chromebook I tried had 2GB of RAM so you can imagine my previous experience. This one comes with 8GB, so it can be pushed more, and you can have multiple things open at once which is convenient and helps me forget this is a Chromebook laptop. Battery 5/5 Surprisingly, the battery surpassed my expectations. I didn’t think it would last more than 2 hours, but it lasted 8 hours doing multiple tasks including a quick gaming session. It also charges fast which I like. 14-Inch Size and 1080p Full HD Display 5/5 Finally, probably my favorite part. The 14-inch Full HD display and the versatility to basically use this as a tablet with its own built-in stand. Watching videos while cooking has gotten better or simply watching movies on the go. Yes, the screen is not 2k or 4k, but 1080 is the high definition enough and the 14in size is a good size in my opinion. Colors look good. The only thing that takes a bit getting used to is the touch screen. It does not behave like a tablet, but I can live with it. Now the two things I wish were better. The keyboard. Just feels cheap. It feels like that’s the first thing that is going to break if I keep using this as my daily. Further, if I keep using this as a tablet, it will take some damage because it is exposed. Wish it felt more prime. The trackpad is also not the best, but personally I find this to be the case with most Windows laptops. They are not precise and when I am typing sometimes it detects my palm. Overall, though, I am happy with my Chromebook. If you need something for your typical work tasks, but welcome other nice things like some light gaming and the versatility to use this as a tablet from time to time, this could be perfect for you!

Very impressed with the performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Right out of the box, this HP Chromebook Plus feels sturdy and well-built, though it’s a bit thicker and heavier than expected, weighing in at just over 3 pounds. The all-plastic design doesn’t feel cheap; it’s solid and holds up well, although it could benefit from a slightly lighter build. Setting up this Chromebook was a breeze. Power it on, connect to Wi-Fi, and you’re guided through the setup. It allows flexible use as a guest, with a Google account, or for school or work, making it adaptable to different needs. The device also checks for updates and installs them automatically, which is a nice touch. The 14-inch LED screen is very nice, with 1080p resolution that makes text and images look crisp. With a brightness of 300 nits, the display can wash out in very bright settings, but it’s still quite nice for most environments. Colors and contrast were also good. I was also impressed by its external display capability, supporting 4K at 60Hz or 1440p at 120Hz, which is fantastic for a Chromebook at this price. The backlit keyboard is comfortable and well-sized with nice chicklet keys, but I wish the backlighting was brighter, as it can get dim in certain lighting. The trackpad is functional but feels a bit mushy and flexes if you press firmly—nothing too concerning, but I wish it had more rigidity here. While it only packs an Intel Core i3 processor running at 3.8 GHz and 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM, this Chromebook is snappy. Apps load instantly, web browsing is smooth, and Wi-Fi 6E support makes the internet blazing fast. I can connect at almost max GB wireless speed, running speed tests gets me 950 Mbps up/down, which is faster than my ASUS gaming PC or my Macbook Pro. In terms of use, it’s super easy to use. This is my first Chromebook and obviously this is the Google/Android ecosystem. All the software is downloaded from the Google Play Store. One downside , not all apps run in native desktop mode, as many default to mobile versions. This can feel limiting on a laptop, especially if you’re used to a full desktop experience. This Chromebook has some excellent additional features. A dedicated button on the side opens your app tray with one click, and you get a 12-month trial of Google’s Gemini AI, which is a nice bonus. The touchscreen and 180° swiveling display make it highly versatile, whether you’re using it as a laptop, in tent mode, or as a tablet. Both the HD webcam and speakers are decent and are more than adequate for this type of machine. Battery life is excellent—I’ve used it for a few days with moderate screen time, and it still has about four hours left. It’s reassuring to have a device that can go several days without needing to be plugged in. As my first experience with a Chromebook, I’m impressed. This HP Chromebook Plus is a great option for light productivity, entertainment, and browsing. Its performance, battery life, and flexibility make it ideal for students or anyone seeking a capable, easy-to-use laptop that covers all the basics with some extra functionality.

Great Chromebook!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Chromebook. Fast bootup doesn't drain battery and screen is very bright. The screen response and navigation is very snappy with no lag observed. Given that all my requirements are web-based this was an easy choice over a battery hungry PC.

Great 2 in 1
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just upgraded my 2 in 1 laptop to this one. I do lien all the upgrades from my old one, 1080 screen, blacklight keyboard. I'm only giving it 4 stars because the 300 nit brightness isn't the brightest inside. But other wise a great computer.

Research what you want
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're alright with having a tablet with app and an attached keyboard, then this a great computer for you. Was not able to access a lot of features that I personally need for work as I would from a Microsoft OS. I figured it would be great for presentation because of the screen features, and I didn't do enough research on Chrome OS. Basically, if there's not an app for it in the Google Play Store, then best of luck.
