    A snappy little laptop/tablet

If you pretty much just browse the internet or do simple things that you could do on an Android phone just want it bigger, this is certainly a way to go. Chromebooks are like the light version of a Windows laptop, they can do most of the same tasks, but with different applications to make it happen. As a laptop to say, type up reviews or watch media, maybe play some mobile games, this works out nicely. You can be in laptop mode with a touch screen and a backlit keyboard or flip it around for a 14 inch tablet. It moves pretty seamlessly between the two modes and you can leave it in a tent mode so it holds itself up when you use it like a regular tablet. For a Chromebook, it does have a bit more storage than others, but still only 256GB. It’s not going to give you the performance of a slightly more expensive “normal” laptop, but it still gets things done. You can access some regular features offline, but the majority of the highlighted features need online access. The nice thing is, it has WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3, so you can get higher speeds with that needed connection. Gemini is one thing they feature on here, but it is just accessing the online AI. It’s fun to use though. It fairly quickly answers your questions or you can ask it to “imagine” something and give you a generated image. With the purchase you get additional perks with a one year free trial. This includes Google One AI Premium plan, access to new features with Gemini Advanced, 2TB of cloud storage and the use of Gemini in other Google products, like Gmail and Docs and others. This is regularly $19.99 (+tax) a month, which it will be after the 12 months ends unless you cancel anytime prior. This has 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A port, all 3.0, 3.5mm audio/mic port, stereo speakers and a front facing camera. The camera has some options to make it look sharper, but I’ve seen better on cell phones. It also has a physical privacy cover so you can ensure you are not being seen. The audio is good enough, you can hear it best in laptop mode, but when in tablet form, it depends on which way you are holding it as they are on one side. The screen is clear and sharp, but highly reflective. It can practically be a mirror in some situations and you can’t even see the screen. You can output video with a USB to DP adapter, but there are no other outputs on this system. The keyboard is pretty standard but all the typical function keys are actual functions instead of the F1-F12 for Windows systems. They make for great shortcuts to many common functions, which a lot of laptops have that as a toggle option now too. The touchpad works well but it is a bit clunky to click down on. It’s touch responsive too though, so you don’t have to click if you don’t want to. Touchsreen functions work well, but notice that sometimes I have to lift my finger off if it loses track or has too many touches for it to lose track. It is capable of 10 point touch, but notice in a test at times it would just stop recognizing all points of touch after some movement. With 2 fingers it wasn’t as likely to lose touch though. The smooth glass, despite its reflection, is nice to the touch though. The edge to edge glass is nice as well, but there is quite the edge that is not usable. Overall, it is an interesting blend between typical laptop features but with Chrome OS. Easy transition between normal laptop use and tablet mode. It’s a bit thick for a solo tablet, but figure all the computer parts are in there too. With the bonus of the 12 month trial it makes it even more worth it. If you need something portable to work on locally stored items or have access to Wi-Fi or hotspot everywhere, it is small and convenient.

I have owned many Chromebooks over the past decade and have grown to love their simplicity, malware resistance, and smooth/fast operation. This model from HP follows that pattern and has a lot of nice features. Pros: - Like all Chromebooks, set-up is extremely easy. Just connect to Wi-Fi, log-in with your Gmail account, and you'll be up and running with 10 minutes or so. There was a larger than usual update for this device which I was surprised to see, but I did get a message that future updates would be much faster. This initial update was likely for the Google AI features included (Gemini). - Audio and video are excellent. The onboard speakers are more than sufficient and the Full HD touch screen was beautiful. I watched several high quality videos and the images were breathtaking (see pic). - This Chromebook comes with the Gemini App pre-installed. This can lend itself to better performance than just using Gemini within a browser. I have used this app to generate logos for my kid's soccer teams and have played around with writing songs, stories and poems and have really liked how useful it can be. - The keyboard and touchpad are well designed. I found them both very comfortable to use. - Being able to fold the Chromebook a full 360 degrees and use it as a tablet provides excellent versatility. I love the ability to use a stylus to draw, make hand written notes, play touch games off the Google app store, etc. - Some Chromebooks these days provide very few USB ports (sometimes only 1). This HP model comes with 1 USB-A and 2 USB-C ports. - I love the size of this 14" Chromebook. It is very light and easy to fit into any backpack, briefcase, or travel bag. Cons: - While the keyboard can be back-lit, it is not bright. I have not yet found a way to increase or decrease the brightness. You have to be in a nearly pitch black room to even notice that the keys are back-lit. - The price on this model is a little high considering some of the specs are lower end. Overall I really like this Chromebook. But I do think it is a little pricey for what you get. I'd look for it on sale and scoop it up at a better price point.

Review for HP 14" 2-in-1 Full HD Touch-Screen Chromebook Plus Laptop ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently purchased the HP 14" 2-in-1 Chromebook, and overall, I'm quite impressed with its performance and versatility. First off, the design is sleek and modern in its Meteor Silver finish, which adds a touch of elegance. The 14" Full HD touch-screen is vibrant and responsive, making it a pleasure to use for both work and entertainment. The 2-in-1 feature is a game-changer; I love being able to switch between laptop and tablet modes effortlessly. This flexibility is perfect for binge-watching shows or taking notes during meetings. Performance-wise, the Intel Core i3 processor paired with 8GB of memory handles multitasking with ease. I can switch between multiple tabs and apps without any noticeable lag, which is impressive for a Chromebook. The 256GB UFS storage provides ample space for my files and applications, and the quick load times are a definite plus. Battery life is another highlight; I can easily get through a full day of use without needing to recharge. This is especially useful for those days spent on the go or working remotely. The only minor drawbacks I’ve noticed are the limited software options compared to traditional laptops and the audio quality, which could be improved. However, these issues are common with Chromebooks and are outweighed by the overall performance and features. In summary, the HP 14" 2-in-1 Chromebook is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable, stylish, and versatile device. I highly recommend it for students, professionals, or anyone who enjoys a seamless computing experience.

    Good Chromebook if on Sale

Good Chromebook if and only if you can get it on a good sale. I purchased this primarily for my children. Pros: Massive improvement in display, keyboard, and touchscreen compared to my kid's school-issued Chromebooks. Display is comfortable on eyes and I can use it for a few hours without any eye strain. Android app support is good and the ones I've tried all work. It's got 8 GB of ram, which should future-proof it for the next few years. 256 GB of storage is decent (only when on sale). Keyboard is adequate. Cons: I can't find the right touchpad settings to make it feel responsive. Okay for kids, but I would not use this as my main device myself based on touchpad alone; but at a discounted price I'm okay with it. When in portrait mode, if the fans kick in (which they will for average use), they are pretty audible and noticeable. Also, aspect ratio of display is not the best for portrait mode. No SD card slot, but for kids they can keep everything in Google Drive. No fingerprint sensor, which for msrp would be questionable--when on sale I can overlook it. Overall: For YouTube and streaming media, this works fine. For productivity, Google apps work well for schoolwork and writing. I'm not interesting in gaming or other high-compute usage for this device, since it's for my kids. Full Chrome desktop browser means near 100% of web apps will work. I don't have to worry about security issues with apps sandboxed by Chrome or Android. I don't have to worry about backing up data since all relevant data will be saved to Google Drive. All that said, I would only purchase this when it has a good sale. Pros outweigh cons when on sale, but at msrp you have more options given the cons. On a side note, this is Laptop is a best buy exclusive sku equivalent to the HP Chromebook Plus x360; only thing I see this sku on best buy has is a 300 nits display vs 250 nits of the x360. This brighter display is welcomed and makes a big difference in bright environments.

This performs as advertised and am happy with the purchase and the deal I got at BBY. Would be better with integrated hdmi and maybe a bit heavy for what it is. Keyboard and build are very good. Performance is solid. Holds charge well. I would recommend and also bought a 2nd for our son.

I am really enjoying my new laptop! It comes with so many specs. FHD is a must for me. I was hoping to find a laptop with backlit keys and touchscreen. Wow, I got lucky when I came across this laptop! Its also 2 in 1. Its sturdy, easy to transport, comfortable to bring on a plane or just layback and watch a movie. Picture is crystal clear with vibrant colors. Fast and has plenty of storage for my needs. I use it for school, work and pleasure.

I have just closed this tablet after a good amount of use and I am a bit torn, it's very fun to use and provides most of your information across all your Google platforms at your fingertips- as if it were hardwired to tap into all your Google information. The i3 Intel Core works for most users- not gamers or heavy program intensive multi-taskers. I enjoyed the look and feel, especially the clean crisp bright screen with it's touchscreen capability. I did wish it had a number pad but I do enjoy the spacing of the keys for my clumsy typing. The screen is another nice design, you can push back the screen to the point you can make it a stand alone screen- great for watching videos/movies. You can also push it all the way back closed and it becomes a tablet and the layout also rotates. The ChromeOS is very easy to navigate, it simplifies the presentation and groups the info/apps in a very simplistic way. You can connect your android phone and your Google account. Once the google account is connected, all your Google accounts logon, YouTube, Gmail, photos, bookmarks...etc. This makes using it easy but also leaves your Chromebook with all your accounts open and unlocked. The amount of information someone could gain going thru the open accounts is immense. If it has all these accounts open, then I would have thought there would be a fingerprint lock or sometype of Microsoft Hello security to lock your laptop whenever you aren't directly opening it. I mentioned enough of the good, but I definitely felt this Chromebook is more geared towards beginning users, kids or older people who are not tech oriented and need everything at their fingertips- and super easily accessible via the OS. I genuinely like the idea but it is too much of a Chromebook and not enough of a laptop for me. Just know what type of USER you are to avoid any outgrowing that may occur if you buy this Chromebook.

This was a low-cost purchase ($269) that makes it worth the value. The touch screen is inconsistent on rare occasions, but that's my only gripe. Battery is good, but not the 10 hours in the specs. I haven't pushed it to its limit. It's hard to compare display quality because no two PC's are the same and one never knows what the original image/photo is supposed to look like. Trying to adjust display color (within Settings) didn't give much control and is not a great tool. This is a low-end mid-level Chromebook - meaning it lacks some features that should come with mid-level (aka $500+) Chromebooks. Before I tried a $169 4Gb RAM/64Gb memory Lenovo 14" Chromebook. It was/is great (I really liked it!), but it was limited with delays in closing tabs sometimes and color graphics not great. This HP comes with 8Gb RAM and 256GB memory that can do almost anything I need, no delays, etc. I'm hoping to migrate from my $1000 Dell PC laptop that's wearing out before its time (3 years). Still learning.

Stuck in boot loop on arrival - good for students

I’m a bit torn on how to rate this machine because, while currently a computer I’m enjoying using, on initial startup, it was stuck in a boot loop for over an hour with a message indicating to not power off the device. Eventually, I was able to get the computer up and running and it’s been working well since then. This laptop is a great option for a student or professional focused on things like note taking, and word processing. With an i3, it’s powerful enough to complete every day tasks as mentioned, and the included Google App Store provides some app accessibility, though largely focused on mobile apps that also run on this computer. That said, the apps I did test out felt a bit buggy and not really great PC ports, and it was hard to separate apps designed for mobile vs those that had been optimized for PC. In its current iteration, I prefer to stay away from the provided App Store. The design of the computer is its biggest selling point. With a touch screen that folds comfortably flat, taking notes or drawing feels great. This effectively replaces the need for having a separate tablet or drawing pad available. Overall, if I assume the boot loop issue was a minor software failure and not an inherent problem with the computer, then I can still recommend this computer, despite those issues.

I’ve been using the HP 14” 2-in-1 laptop for a while now, and I couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It does everything I need it to do, making my work seamless and far more productive. One of my favorite features is the touchscreen—it’s highly responsive and makes navigating through tasks effortless. Whether I’m scrolling through documents, sketching ideas, or making quick edits, the touch functionality adds an extra level of convenience. The flip feature is another game-changer, allowing me to switch between laptop, tent, stand, and tablet mode with ease. This versatility is perfect for different work settings, whether I’m typing out reports, giving presentations, or simply watching content in a hands-free setup. Performance-wise, this laptop delivers. With a reliable processor, ample storage, and solid battery life, I can multitask efficiently without lag. It boots up quickly and handles everything from document processing to video streaming with ease. The lightweight design is a plus, making it easy to carry around whether I’m at home, in the office, or on the go. Overall, the HP 14” 2-in-1 laptop is a fantastic device for anyone who needs flexibility, performance, and ease of use in one package. I purchased this Chromebook on sale to replace a previous Chromebook that had become obsolete. The build quality is fantastic, the screen quality is great and it has plenty of storage and RAM for email, productivity and even light gaming. If you need a Chromebook to do basic productivity work and not be hampered by slow system response, you cannot beat the deal on this Chromebook.
