Back-up laptop for travelling. Light weight and not very powerful, but good for quick access to wifi and the internet.

This Chromebook is heavy. That may be due in part to its solid build. The lid is hard to open and you have to hold down the bottom while doing so. Other laptops and Chromebooks can be opened with one hand. If you open your computer 47 times in one day this can be a non-trivial issue. The screen is vibrant and fairly bright. The speakers are loud and clear for a laptop. This will be mainly an entertainment device, so this is important for me. One complaint is when you full screen a window for the first time the bottom is hidden by the shelf. I had to set the shelf to auto-hide OR take the window out of full screen then back into full screen so it would size itself to the correct size, i.e. not drop below the shelf. The other complaint is the touchpad was finicky scrolling. It would cause the scrolling to jump if I slid my fingers too close to the top of the pad. I had to use shorter strokes to achieve a smooth scroll. This was annoying, but still useable. For its intended purpose this was not a deal breaker. If it was going to be my daily driver, then it would have gone back to the store.

I bought this for my wife and she really likes it. She's adapting to Google drive and starting to see the benefits of having your documents in the cloud. I've been playing with ChromeOS recently and its a very capable and even elegant operating system. I'm a Linux user and adore the Gnome desktop, but I think for the average user who uses exclusively web apps, this is the best solution. Both HP and Google have a winner here. Highly recommended.

Easy set up. Works great. It's a chromebook so don't expect a gaming computer.
