Basic Computing with Technological Advancements
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.HP’s 14” Laptop, dq3000dx, is a basic computer with quality components, updated technology, and product features that make it worth a test drive. Offered at a very affordable price, it comes with all the elements needed for basic computing. The Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.4 wireless cards worked seamlessly and aided a flawless installation of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth computer peripherals. The computer was up and running, and the Windows Home S mode operating system had completed all updates in minutes. The literature suggested that the laptop remain plugged in with the 45W AC power adapter before powering on the computer, so I followed that directive. I was impressed that the charging was pleasantly stable (partially due to the AC Smart Pin Connection) and that the battery fully charged in about an hour. The literature states that the battery can charge from empty to about 50 percent in 45 minutes, which appears correct. The literature also states that the battery life is approximately 12 hours of video playback and 7 hours and 45 minutes of wireless streaming, which I have not evaluated. Battery life is improving for technological products, and from my experience, this laptop's battery life is surprisingly good. The 14-dq3000dx is an attractive, thin, light, modern laptop in Snowflake White. At only .71“thick, its overall dimensions are 8.86” and 12.76”, which makes it ideal for most backpacks. Because of its lightweight material, it only weighs 3.24 lbs. Its battery life and lightweight composition make it easy to take anywhere. Because of its Intel Celeron N4500 (quad-core) Processor and Intel UHD Graphics, you can be assured that you will have fundamental, reliable computing on the go. Other noteworthy features that I feel are PROS, but a few CONS are mentioned below. PROS: • One (1) year subscript to Microsoft 365 Office, which now includes innovative assist features, including AI technology with Microsoft Co-Pilot. • Camera – HP True Vision 720P HD with integrated noise-reducing dual microphones for clear video chatting and recording. • A 14-inch Display with a micro-edge bezel that creates a broader viewing experience and an anti-glare panel that tremendously helps eliminate glare when used outside. • HD Audio with Stereo Speakers. • A Full-Size integrated keyboard. • All the connections that you could need, including: A multi-format SD Media Card Reader, USB Type C – 1 connection, USB Type A - 2 connection, HDMI 1.4b – 1 connection, AC Smart Pin (a special type of power connector pin that optimizes charging) Headphone/Microphone combo jack. CONS: • Keyboard – The keyboard is an integrated standard keyboard, which is good, but the keyboard also has missing features or features that could use improvement. Backlighting of keyboards is especially useful in low-light or evening work. It would have been a nice feature that is absent from this laptop. The keyboard layout does not include numerals on the right side. Unfortunately, computer manufacturers are abandoning this notable feature. As on most keyboards, numerals are on the top row. I am not a fan of the material used in the actual keys and wish the design had used a material with a tactile feel to its surface. I have been typing fast for years on various typewriter models and keyboards. The keys of this keyboard may be fine for others, but the feel of the rigid plastic does not seem ergonomic and slowed my typing speed. • RAM Memory—The 4GB DDR4 Memory, or random-access memory, appears to be enough to power all of Microsoft Office's features. However, the capacity of the 4GB RAM limits the number of windows that can be opened simultaneously without slowdown issues. When too many windows are opened simultaneously, the processes start to slow down. • eMMC Storage—This computer's eMMC compact flash-based storage helps in the design to make the laptop thin and light, but it is only 64 GB. This is adequate storage to run the features of Microsoft Office but limits the number of additional programs. However, if the proposed use of this computer is to install and utilize several programs, there is a limit to what this computer’s storage and RAM capacity can efficiently manage. Most documents and photographs will need to be saved in the cloud because of the low capacity of RAM and Storage, which also limits the number of programs or documents that can be saved on this computer. For a few dollars more, there is another model identical to this laptop but with storage of 128 GB, twice that of this one at 64GB. This is an entry-level laptop computer designed for performance. A laptop that is light enough to take anywhere and designed around dependability for everyday computing needs. It is perfect for home or school and, with the addition of Microsoft Office for a year, provides all the programs needed to complete written assignments, browse the internet, download or stream movies and shows, and successfully compete. Microsoft 365 Office includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, which now utilizes AI Smart Assist Features and, upon their use, can enhance your creativity. HP also offers technical support for the first 90 days to ensure that the computer is set up correctly and social media is installed, connected, and in working order. With this purchase, you also receive one (1) year of Dropbox Cloud Storage of 100 GB and 30 days of McAfee Security. The HP Laptop 14-dq3000dx is a sleek, light, lovely, contemporary-looking computer that will allow you to do everything you typically need in basic computing.

Great Slick modern Microsoft budget PC
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's been a while since I have owned an HP PC. Let's get through setup... Setup was super easy. Charged it up. Fired it up and went through the step by step process. Windows updates took a bit. But nothing out of the ordinary. Comes with MS Office for 1 year free. Nice. Just gotta remember to either cancel or get a othe license cheaper elsewhere. Usability. Size is nice. Keyboard layout is nice. Not too compact to where you hit keys your don't want. Also peripheral availability is good .. USB C X1, USB A x 2, HDMI, headphone Jack, SD Card. Typical screen for budget laptop is a bit harder on the eyes. I wished companies made screens a bit better. Battery life is great. 5 straight days of about 4 hours each day and battery is still good. Internet use is good. Speed is pretty good online. Camera video calling is good. No issues. Color is nice. My wife really liked the nice clean white color. Overall. Great budget PC. If you are looking for a PC that is pocket friendly look no further here it is. Good job HP.

I wish it had more storage…
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP 14—dq3000dx laptop is an excellent choice for those who need to complete basic tasks. This valuable option is not made for everyone. If you need to do more than surf the web or use basic apps like email or word/notepad, I would look elsewhere. Even if you need to do basic task but are planning to do multiple things at once… I wouldn’t choose this option. You basically need to use one program for this laptop to be efficient. A good example to showcase how this system operates: I downloaded one program that I use for basic needs and connected it to my network drives. It took what felt like half a day to complete this task. Most laptops low to mid-tier could do this in the matter of minutes or seconds. Not this laptop. It does have a nice 14-inch screen that is sufficient for daily tasks along with 4gb of ram, a basic Intel Celeron processor, and 64GM eMMC. I do not recommend eMMC hard drives but in this case it works. Everything here is to meet basic standards of Windows 11. The body is well built and so is the keyboard and trackpad. The laptop also has a built in SD card reader which you will most likely use owning this laptop. There is not much storage on the eMMC drive and it wouldn’t allow me to download a 11gb file. So having the ability to add in a SD card and it is not in the way/visible is helpful. It really should come equipped with a 128 GB hard drive. I cannot rate this laptop more than 3 stars due to the hard drive situation. While a value laptop, you should be able to download a file that’s only a few GB and not need an external solution. This is a great option; however, if you need something on the go and don’t want to worry about your primary laptop getting damaged, or again if you just have the bare minimum basic needs.

Sleek, Good Looking and Very Functional
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Chrome 14a-ne1013dx Laptop: 14" Chromebook - Intel Celeron - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC storage-type is certainly a workhorse that most of us can easily use. This Chromebook came to me in matte white and I find that very aesthetically pleasing. As a matter of fact, I am a 66-year-old senior and the buttons on this machine are nice and big so, using this machine and any concerns over either visual acuity or fine motor skills is simply not an issue. This Chromebook is exceedingly portable, lightweight, cost-effective, and very easy to set up and connect to the user's Wi-Fi, download apps from the Play store and set up overall. The Led screen is fine for even the light gaming one might want to do on this Chromebook laptop, as well as to do email, surf the internet, shop, etc. There are plenty of built-in ports, including USB Type A (x2), USB Type C (x1), HDMI (x1), headphone/mic, and the charger. As a matter of fact, my Samsung Android Smart telephone also easily synced to this machine. Bottom line, this works for me as any tablet would. When my husband goes to sleep, the TV goes off so that our bedroom is dark and quiet. However, if I still am not ready to go to sleep, having this larger screen versus that of my smart phone to watch a show on either Netflix, Prime, Paramount+, whatever, is easily doable and the ability to connect and Blue Toothe my headphones was seamless. In fact, Blue Toothing in general is easy and seamless. I am glad that I have this to use.

Small And Decent
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boyfriend just bought this, since it was on sale. I didn’t think much of it, BUT this little laptop has a good processing speed. He bought it for his job, where he submits photos, does report reviews and make appointments . He is able to multi task on it . I would say up to 6 tabs before it starts processing a little slower, such as loads longer for documents or pages to load. It’s lightweight and a good size to fit in any tote/backpack . He carries it with him and the battery lasts a while. I would say this is a good purchase for anyone who needs it for basic needs, even to watch YouTube , movies or just browsing on the internet.

good for basic needs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This laptop seems to be designed as a basic device. I would feel it is intended as an economical choice for young students, or someone at home doing just the basic tasks - such as emails, light surfing, and videos. It is not intended for gaming, photo processing etc. It has basic hardware. A Celeron N4500 processor with 2 cores running at 1.1GHz, 4Gb ram, and 64Gb storage. The case appears to be all plastic, an attractive white that doesn't attract fingerprints. But, the case and screen felt sturdy enough, and the screen maintained its position well. There are a number of things to like about this computer. It is a good option for everyday tasks, and can open some multiple apps at the same time. It will also manage a few multiple browser tabs open at once. There is a good selection of ports. There is one USB C port, two USB A ports, HDMI port, headphone jack, power port, and a SD card slot. The SD card slot allows the card to be almost fully be inserted – it does not stick out, and be in the way as with some other laptops. The keyboard has good travel, and typing was easy. But be advised, the keys are light colored with gray lettering, and there is no backlight, so typing in dim light is not an easy task. The track pad worked well, but felt “plasticky” when clicking. The sound output from the speakers is adequate, with enough volume and reasonable tone from small laptop speakers. There are also some negatives. The screen has poor color rendition, it is only HD with 1366 X 768 resolution, and appears to be a TN screen - with poor off axis viewing. If the screen is tilted horizontally or vertically only a few degrees off center, it washes out. Also, I did note that while charging and updating, the bottom right area got quite hot. As received, it is running Windows 11 in S mode, which limits what apps can be downloaded. This can be oped out, but once done, it cannot be returned to S mode. However, to install “non microsoft” apps, you have to opt out... The storage is extremely limited, with only 64Gb as received, and after updates, there is only about 16Gb free. This is extremely small, and an SD card is an absolute necessity for storage. Overall, this could be a good choice for basic computing needs, if you keep in mind the limitations of the computer, and do not expect gaming performance.

Too slow, not enough usable memory
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bearing in mind that this is a very basic entry-level laptop, the performance of the HP dq3000dx was still a little disappointing for my needs. The price is very economical if you intend to use it for light tasks, like reading or sending an occasional email, or typing up a letter, or very light web surfing. I don’t recommend it for gaming or long video play because of the lagging and buffering I experienced. I’m sure the lag in overall performance is due to it only processing at 1.1 GHz and having 4GB of RAM, which isn’t that much in today’s world. Set up out of the box took about two and a half hours, but the majority of that time was updates installing. It comes with Windows S-mode, which I left alone instead of turning it off to be able to install other apps like I’d intended. I didn’t want to bog the system down any further. The white color of the casing is nice, and I like that the keyboard has a light wood grain look to it even though it’s plastic. I would prefer that the keyboard was backlit though because the keys are very difficult to see without light. I miss the numeric keypad also, but it didn’t surprise me that this laptop doesn’t have one. It’s great that HP included a USB C port, HDMI port, and an SD card slot in addition to the standard USB A ports and headphone jack. The laptop also comes with the typical HP power cord and port. Battery life seems to be averaging about 5-7 hours before needing a charge. I wasn’t able to get 12 hours of video playing like the specs say, but I’ll say that it has good battery life considering how slow the overall performance of the machine is. This laptop may be ideal for a younger child as a first computer or someone that may only need to get online periodically, but I don’t recommend it for anyone that doesn’t have a lot of patience.

Great Budget Windows Laptop for Everyday Tasks !
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.nboxing - The laptop comes boxed with a slim AC adaptor and setup card. It’s easy to set up - Just plug it in to charge and hit power. Windows 11 will walk you through all of the initial options. I appreciate the the packaging is entirely recyclable. First impressions - It’s a budget laptop, similar to a Chromebook. The build is mostly plastic but the chassis and screen do not have much flex in them. The screen feels adequately protected to be placed in a standard backpack or notebook case. The screen has accurate color and is quite bright. Once set up, I noted that the viewing angle sweet spot on the screen is quite narrow. This might present challenges if you have more than one person trying to watch a streaming service on the screen. The keyboard has quite a bit of flex in it but feels quite tough overall. Battery Life - I did not check the official rating or expectation, I found I could play through three feature length films and have 20-35 percent battery left. I was able to surf and read for hours without significant or fast drain. A few hours of Netflix was also possible. Connectivity - Wifi of course and also bluetooth. I was able to connect bluetooth mice, a headset and other devices without issue. Overall performance - Quite good for such a “low spec” machine - It’s always fun to use a laptop like this for everyday tasks and Have everything open quickly or play perfectly. Windows S Mode ? - Windows “S” mode is enabled out of the box. This is effectively windows home edition with extra safeguards in place where apps can only be installed from the windows store. I tested this and it worked as expected but ultimately disabled it to Install additional applications like visual studio code, openoffice and Blender3d. If I were setting this laptop up for pre-teen or inexperienced user - I would leave it in “S” mode. There is no cost to turn this mode off and windows becomes “Home edition”. Windows Recovery - If you want to restore this laptop to out of the box condition, it can do so from a hidden image on the internal storage. It can also be backed up and restored to a 128GB or larger USB drive. What I love ! Full size SD card slot to add storage Performance fine for daily tasks Great Battery Life - Plays through 3-4 movies ! Room for improvement - A backlit keyboard would be appreciated

Unrestricted, but Slow
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had difficulty choosing between a Chromebook and an entry level Windows Laptop. Chromebooks typically work quite well, but they feel limited in functionality as they are designed around the Google programs. This HP Windows PC is less restricted [than a Chromebook], but often feels prohibitively slow. I ordered the computer for my 10-year-old son to use mainly for school - and also for a bit of entertainment. For an entry level PC, the laptop is decent - but does leave a lot to be desired. After installing a whole slew of updates, the speed of the computer did improve, but it can still feel frustratingly slow fairly often. Opening systems & programs take so long to open that the user begins to doubt if the request has even registered. My son is convinced that his school Chromebook is noticeably faster at opening web pages and programs. It is slow enough that I genuinely worry that he will avoid using it. While I like that the lid has a webcam built in, I do not like that there is no camera cover. I also do not like that the laptop only has about 15 gigs of free hard drive space. Thankfully there is an SD card slot, but this means more money will be spent to ensure he has enough storage to save documents, projects, pictures, etc. Seasaw does function for his schoolwork, and he is technically able to play Roblox - although it does not run consistently smooth. Even light games like Candy Crush lag at times. I am still torn when comparing with a Chromebook. I still like having the open availability of Windows and I do like that it comes with a dedicated CoPilot A.I. button, but I wish the computer would run more smoothly. If you choose a Windows Laptop over a Chromebook, save up for as much computer you can afford. This HP works and will get you through most tasks, but you'll have to be patient through lag and slow load times. Pros: + SD Card Slot + Dedicated CoPilot button (A.I. chat) + Pin Hole Microphone does a fantastic job at capturing quality audio + Lid features a small tab to assist with opening + Light weight + Some nice stylish details such as the subtle design around the keyboard & trackpad Cons: - No camera cover - No fingerprint reader - Keyboard is not backlit - Keyboard feels spongey and cheap - Only comes with about 15 gigs of usable hard drive space - Does not charge with USB-C - Extremely limited graphics capabilities

Makes a Good Backup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a university student in my last semester, and so I have a lot of work which absolutely requires a computer. Unfortunately, my main, nice, laptop needed to go in for repairs (and three weeks later still is not back to me!), and so I had no choice but to buy SOMETHING to fill that gap. This was the cheapest machine I could find, and so I just slapped my preferred Linux distro on it and have been using it just fine. For the price point it is exceedingly adequate; but of course you get what you pay for. My 5 stars are couched in the fact that I am uniquely using this as a backup and not as a primary machine. If you need a laptop to use every day of your life for a long time, please save up more and get one with a good display and real storage.

Ultimately not enough memory for my needs.
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.recently purchased the HP 14" Laptop with an Intel Celeron processor and 4GB of memory. Overall, I have mixed feelings about this product, and one major drawback for me is the insufficient amount of memory. The laptop itself has a decent size and is compact enough for easy portability. The Intel Celeron processor provides adequate performance for everyday tasks such as web browsing, document editing, and multimedia consumption. Additionally, the 14" display offers a clear and vibrant viewing experience. However, the limited 4GB of memory is a significant downside. As a purchaser, I require a laptop that can handle multitasking and run multiple applications simultaneously without lag or slowdowns. Unfortunately, with only 4GB of memory, this laptop falls short in meeting my requirements. It struggles to handle resource-intensive tasks or run software that demands more memory, resulting in frustrating delays and decreased productivity. Furthermore, the laptop lacks sufficient storage space for my needs. With limited memory, I expected that the device would compensate with a more generous storage capacity. However, this was not the case, and I found myself running out of storage quickly, even with minimal files and applications installed. On the positive side, the laptop does provide a reliable battery life, allowing me to work or browse the web for a few hours without needing to constantly plug it in. It also offers a variety of connectivity options, including USB ports and an HDMI output, which is convenient for connecting external devices or displaying content on larger screens. In summary, while the HP 14" Laptop with an Intel Celeron processor has some commendable features, such as its portability and display quality, the insufficient 4GB of memory and limited storage space are significant drawbacks. As a purchaser, I would recommend considering alternative options that offer more memory and storage capacity, particularly for those who require a laptop for multitasking and resource-demanding tasks.
