Great Budget Windows Laptop for Everyday Tasks !

nboxing - The laptop comes boxed with a slim AC adaptor and setup card. It’s easy to set up - Just plug it in to charge and hit power. Windows 11 will walk you through all of the initial options. I appreciate the the packaging is entirely recyclable. First impressions - It’s a budget laptop, similar to a Chromebook. The build is mostly plastic but the chassis and screen do not have much flex in them. The screen feels adequately protected to be placed in a standard backpack or notebook case. The screen has accurate color and is quite bright. Once set up, I noted that the viewing angle sweet spot on the screen is quite narrow. This might present challenges if you have more than one person trying to watch a streaming service on the screen. The keyboard has quite a bit of flex in it but feels quite tough overall. Battery Life - I did not check the official rating or expectation, I found I could play through three feature length films and have 20-35 percent battery left. I was able to surf and read for hours without significant or fast drain. A few hours of Netflix was also possible. Connectivity - Wifi of course and also bluetooth. I was able to connect bluetooth mice, a headset and other devices without issue. Overall performance - Quite good for such a “low spec” machine - It’s always fun to use a laptop like this for everyday tasks and Have everything open quickly or play perfectly. Windows S Mode ? - Windows “S” mode is enabled out of the box. This is effectively windows home edition with extra safeguards in place where apps can only be installed from the windows store. I tested this and it worked as expected but ultimately disabled it to Install additional applications like visual studio code, openoffice and Blender3d. If I were setting this laptop up for pre-teen or inexperienced user - I would leave it in “S” mode. There is no cost to turn this mode off and windows becomes “Home edition”. Windows Recovery - If you want to restore this laptop to out of the box condition, it can do so from a hidden image on the internal storage. It can also be backed up and restored to a 128GB or larger USB drive. What I love ! Full size SD card slot to add storage Performance fine for daily tasks Great Battery Life - Plays through 3-4 movies ! Room for improvement - A backlit keyboard would be appreciated

Inexpensive, Porrtable Machine For Very Basic Use

If you are looking for a bare-bones, decent quality, and highly portable little laptop, this is a good choice. From a users standpoint, this is for very basic use. Wouold be great for a student. Certainly capable for using basic business suites (spreadsheets, word processing, basic visual presentations etcetera) as well as basic internet browsing. As for the portability I mentioned, it is thin and lightweight. Slips easily into a backpack and won't weigh you down. It has a quality feel and an attractive look. Another nice thing, it is really quite inexpensive, mso if you mare traveling or it gets lost or stolen, you not losing a $2000 souped up gaming mmachine. The processos is an Intel Celeron N4500 @ 1.1Ghz. Certainly a capable core for the thinngs I mentioned previously. It has 4 Gb of RAM. That's about the smallest and bare minimum in this day of age. One frusturating thing (and it's not a hardware fault, but rather a software {Windows, anyone?}) issueis the default "S Mode" in the Microsoft App store. This "disallows" the installation of any non-approved apps; So if you prefer any other browser (Chrome, DuckDuck Go, Firefox etc) youneed to turn off "S Mode". And in classic Microsoft fashion, they don't make it intuitive at ALL to do. As a techie guy, it took me a bit to fuigure it out. I looked MS support pages, and nothing they presented to turn it off was accurate. Again, not an HP hardware issue, but a Winows issue. In all, this is a great choice for basic, basic use.

I recently purchased the HP 14" Laptop in the beautiful Snowflake color, and I absolutely love the aesthetic—it gives the device a sleek and stylish touch. In terms of portability, this laptop is lightweight and easy to carry, making it great for on-the-go use. However, I wish I had paid closer attention to the storage and memory specs. With only 64GB of storage and 4GB of memory, I’ve found that I quickly run out of space, even without downloading much. This has made managing files and apps a bit challenging. I may need to invest in a memory card or external storage to help with file storage and make everyday use more seamless. That said, it remains a convenient, compact option for those prioritizing portability and basic computing needs.

This laptop seems to be designed as a basic device. I would feel it is intended as an economical choice for young students, or someone at home doing just the basic tasks - such as emails, light surfing, and videos. It is not intended for gaming, photo processing etc. It has basic hardware. A Celeron N4500 processor with 2 cores running at 1.1GHz, 4Gb ram, and 64Gb storage. The case appears to be all plastic, an attractive white that doesn't attract fingerprints. But, the case and screen felt sturdy enough, and the screen maintained its position well. There are a number of things to like about this computer. It is a good option for everyday tasks, and can open some multiple apps at the same time. It will also manage a few multiple browser tabs open at once. There is a good selection of ports. There is one USB C port, two USB A ports, HDMI port, headphone jack, power port, and a SD card slot. The SD card slot allows the card to be almost fully be inserted – it does not stick out, and be in the way as with some other laptops. The keyboard has good travel, and typing was easy. But be advised, the keys are light colored with gray lettering, and there is no backlight, so typing in dim light is not an easy task. The track pad worked well, but felt “plasticky” when clicking. The sound output from the speakers is adequate, with enough volume and reasonable tone from small laptop speakers. There are also some negatives. The screen has poor color rendition, it is only HD with 1366 X 768 resolution, and appears to be a TN screen - with poor off axis viewing. If the screen is tilted horizontally or vertically only a few degrees off center, it washes out. Also, I did note that while charging and updating, the bottom right area got quite hot. As received, it is running Windows 11 in S mode, which limits what apps can be downloaded. This can be oped out, but once done, it cannot be returned to S mode. However, to install “non microsoft” apps, you have to opt out... The storage is extremely limited, with only 64Gb as received, and after updates, there is only about 16Gb free. This is extremely small, and an SD card is an absolute necessity for storage. Overall, this could be a good choice for basic computing needs, if you keep in mind the limitations of the computer, and do not expect gaming performance.

This is a tough review for me to do. I was looking for a simple laptop that I could use strictly to surf the internet. By all accounts the HP DQ3000DX should fit the bill, but there are a few things that keep it from measuring up. When unboxing the HP dq3000dx my first impression was it was heavier than I had anticipated. I was amazed with the overall look and features it includes. The body of the laptop is made of plastic and has an inexpensive feel to it to keep cost down I suppose. Feature wise, the HP includes all the usual connections, multi card reader, 2 USB-A, 1 USB-C, HDMI output and a mini jack for headphones. The keyboard layout is comfortable and responsive, with good feedback. The screen is detailed enough for this price point. The operating system is Windows 11S to keep out unauthorized apps and maintain security of the system. Memory is handled by eMMC,( embedded MultiMediaCard storage), at 64 gigabytes. The downside for me is the speed at which the commands are executed. When launching a webpage there is almost a five count for the page to load. When having more than one page open on Edge, the secondary page never loads or takes an extraordinary amount of time to load. Pages that do load seem to freeze and say “ Page is not responding, do you want to wait or close”. At first, I thought it may be because I signed into my MS account and One Drive was enabled. So I reset the HP back to factory and signed into my MS account without One Drive and the behavior was the same. I checked to make sure all of the Windows updates had been complete. What I found was there were apps running in the background from HP and other bloatware. Once I went into the Apps Start up Mgr. and shut off all the apps from starting when the HP was turned on, the speed was better, but not great. When you look at task Mgr, the CPU is constantly at 100%. For my needs this is a pass. It is just too slow to do basic computing or internet surfing.

The HP Chrome 14a-ne1013dx Laptop: 14" Chromebook - Intel Celeron - 4GB Memory - 64GB eMMC storage-type is certainly a workhorse that most of us can easily use. This Chromebook came to me in matte white and I find that very aesthetically pleasing. As a matter of fact, I am a 66-year-old senior and the buttons on this machine are nice and big so, using this machine and any concerns over either visual acuity or fine motor skills is simply not an issue. This Chromebook is exceedingly portable, lightweight, cost-effective, and very easy to set up and connect to the user's Wi-Fi, download apps from the Play store and set up overall. The Led screen is fine for even the light gaming one might want to do on this Chromebook laptop, as well as to do email, surf the internet, shop, etc. There are plenty of built-in ports, including USB Type A (x2), USB Type C (x1), HDMI (x1), headphone/mic, and the charger. As a matter of fact, my Samsung Android Smart telephone also easily synced to this machine. Bottom line, this works for me as any tablet would. When my husband goes to sleep, the TV goes off so that our bedroom is dark and quiet. However, if I still am not ready to go to sleep, having this larger screen versus that of my smart phone to watch a show on either Netflix, Prime, Paramount+, whatever, is easily doable and the ability to connect and Blue Toothe my headphones was seamless. In fact, Blue Toothing in general is easy and seamless. I am glad that I have this to use.

It's been a while since I have owned an HP PC. Let's get through setup... Setup was super easy. Charged it up. Fired it up and went through the step by step process. Windows updates took a bit. But nothing out of the ordinary. Comes with MS Office for 1 year free. Nice. Just gotta remember to either cancel or get a othe license cheaper elsewhere. Usability. Size is nice. Keyboard layout is nice. Not too compact to where you hit keys your don't want. Also peripheral availability is good .. USB C X1, USB A x 2, HDMI, headphone Jack, SD Card. Typical screen for budget laptop is a bit harder on the eyes. I wished companies made screens a bit better. Battery life is great. 5 straight days of about 4 hours each day and battery is still good. Internet use is good. Speed is pretty good online. Camera video calling is good. No issues. Color is nice. My wife really liked the nice clean white color. Overall. Great budget PC. If you are looking for a PC that is pocket friendly look no further here it is. Good job HP.

My boyfriend just bought this, since it was on sale. I didn’t think much of it, BUT this little laptop has a good processing speed. He bought it for his job, where he submits photos, does report reviews and make appointments . He is able to multi task on it . I would say up to 6 tabs before it starts processing a little slower, such as loads longer for documents or pages to load. It’s lightweight and a good size to fit in any tote/backpack . He carries it with him and the battery lasts a while. I would say this is a good purchase for anyone who needs it for basic needs, even to watch YouTube , movies or just browsing on the internet.

I bought this mainly to check my emails and watch online tutorials while I'm travelling. It's not a gaming laptop by any means, but it's nice enough for its intended purpose. You might want to consider something with more RAM and faster processing speeds if you plan to do more than watch tutorials or Netflix. It's very lightweight, and the battery lasts a few hours when fully charged.

Bearing in mind that this is a very basic entry-level laptop, the performance of the HP dq3000dx was still a little disappointing for my needs. The price is very economical if you intend to use it for light tasks, like reading or sending an occasional email, or typing up a letter, or very light web surfing. I don’t recommend it for gaming or long video play because of the lagging and buffering I experienced. I’m sure the lag in overall performance is due to it only processing at 1.1 GHz and having 4GB of RAM, which isn’t that much in today’s world. Set up out of the box took about two and a half hours, but the majority of that time was updates installing. It comes with Windows S-mode, which I left alone instead of turning it off to be able to install other apps like I’d intended. I didn’t want to bog the system down any further. The white color of the casing is nice, and I like that the keyboard has a light wood grain look to it even though it’s plastic. I would prefer that the keyboard was backlit though because the keys are very difficult to see without light. I miss the numeric keypad also, but it didn’t surprise me that this laptop doesn’t have one. It’s great that HP included a USB C port, HDMI port, and an SD card slot in addition to the standard USB A ports and headphone jack. The laptop also comes with the typical HP power cord and port. Battery life seems to be averaging about 5-7 hours before needing a charge. I wasn’t able to get 12 hours of video playing like the specs say, but I’ll say that it has good battery life considering how slow the overall performance of the machine is. This laptop may be ideal for a younger child as a first computer or someone that may only need to get online periodically, but I don’t recommend it for anyone that doesn’t have a lot of patience.
