Not a very good computer for work
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. All I can say is this is a very slow computer. I purchased this or my (non technical) wife just for her to surf the internet and she complained that it was just too slow. If you run any type of programs on this computer you will have problems. You have been warned.

Stay away
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. However, only stay away if you don't like running only one program or enjoy waiting abnormally long for the internet to load a page. Other than that not too bad. HP really should not offer products like these.

Horrible cumputer
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this computer at the end of November for my daughter to finish her senior year in college. She used it maybe 2 weeks then had winter break. When school started back it was acting funny, she took it in and the tech said the motherboard was corroded. How can this happen when it was brand new. Now best buy won't exchange it. Only option to contact HP. Wont ever buy this laptop again. Or buy anything from best buy

Apple fan for a reason
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just getting started on this machine after years of macbooks and already I'm bummed I don't have the $1000 for a macbook. I'm constantly having to use the touch screen as the track pad doesn't work for clicking on icons, tabs, etc. Every time I use the trackpad to click on anything an annoying drop down menu pops up that is just too irrelevant. Not sure if copy & paste is even an option with this thing as I can't get the curser to copy anything. I'm saving up for a macbook ASAP. I can't even....

Too noisy
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this for my daughter as a Christmas present. Size is perfect but it sounds like a plane revving up to take off. This is annoying and the computer is getting hot. I think I wasted money on junk. I'm sure it won't be fixed by HP. Don't waste your money. It shouldn't sound like this. My other laptops do not make noise when they are closed. Spend a little more for a better computer. I think HP lost a customer especially if it isn't fixed.

Failed Out of Box
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Functionality slow to non functional. Intermittent failure. Unable to diagnose issue. Internet intermittent slow to no with no provider issue. Window 10 auto uploads any files to cloud without asking keeps them. Hard to uninstall. Many non essential programs running at startup. Edge loaded with adds. Microsoft worst upgrade than ever. program second guesses likes. More unnecessary garbage from Gates. Returned

Excellent Purchase!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Stellar laptop for the price. Better than expected. I was quite hesitant at first...given the fact, screen resolution @ 1366 X 768. But, I must say! I was impressed with the clarity. Keyboard was adequate, no wifi connecting issues (so far) I travel a lot for business on a weekly basis, I usually carry my Razer Blade Advance or Macbook Pro, "Which by the way, I am always concerned, it may get damaged during my travels". If you are looking for a secondary beater laptop, capable to run office, excel, word and general use. This would be a great choice! Pros: *Price *Light weight *Mobility and Portability *Touch Screen *Battery Life (5 to 6 hours) *Speaker sound Cons: *Laptop was advertised!!!! Finger print reader included. Please note: (NO FINGER PRINT READER with this machine) *No backlit keyboard *Windows S mode (changeable to windows 10 home)

OH NO!
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to carry, nice touch pad. But after using this for 8 months only, it blacked out on me. I was viewing a web page and suddenly it turned off even when it was fully charged. As I am writing this, I made an appointment to bring this laptop to the store. My old Toshiba laptop is over 10 years old and still working great.

An Amazing Bargain For Students and Basic Tasks
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP 14 Touch is the 2019 update of the 2018 HP laptop that was highest rated laptop in the under $500 price range. It adds a touchscreen to what was already a great entry-level laptop. The combination of Windows 10 S Mode and a very fast 128gb solid state drive enable you to be reading your email within a minute of pressing the power button. And, Windows 10 S Mode protects the laptop from the malware that causes a laptop to slow down month by month until it is unusable. It is VERY important to understand that the HP 14 is a Windows S Mode laptop, which means it is designed for security and reliability. S Mode requires you to install ALL of your software from the Official Microsoft store. That means you can easily get Microsoft Word. You can NOT get the free LibreOffice word processing program. Most Windows computers have already been updated to Windows 10 Version 1903. NOT S Mode computers...Version 1903 will not be installed on S Mode computers until it is 100% reliable, which might be a year from now. It takes just one minute to turn S Mode off, but after it is turned off, you do not have to ability to ever use S Mode in the future. I bought two HP 14 laptops. On the first one, I turned S mode off. I week later, the laptop was destroyed by a defective BIOS installed directly from HP. My second HP 14 receives all updates from the official Microsoft store, and it continues to work perfectly. The 4gb of RAM memory and an Intel i3 CPU make the HP 14 very fast for writing a school paper, checking email and news headlines and other basic tasks. Netflix movies look good and sound good. For these basic tasks, it is as good or better than the typical $500 laptop. WEAK POINTS: it does NOT have the muscle to smoothly play the most demanding games. It is not a game machine. Demanding graphics programs such as Photoshop will run very, very slowly when doing demanding tasks. For about $40 you can upgrade it from 4gb of RAM to 12gb of RAM, which will speed up some programs.
