When my HP Model 15-fd0127dx laptop arrived, you could immediately tell that it was the no-frills, workhorse of a computer that I expected. With no fancy model names and no extravagant packaging, this 15.6 diagonal touch-screened, lightweight 3.52 lbs, thin 0.73" thick laptop meets the needs of those who are looking for a moderately priced but powerful work / school computer. This laptop with its 13th Generation Intel Core i7-1355U high power efficiency 15W low voltage mobile processor with Intel IRIS Xe Graphics at 1300 MHz onboard, 12MB of L3 Cache, 16 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage was designed to hit the latest sweetspot between price and performance and I think this machine does this well. The 1920 x 1080 dpi 15.6" IPS LED touchscreen display at 300 NITs brightness provides a clear and pleasant user experience whether viewing spreadsheets, drawing in 3D CAD programs, surfing the Web or playing casual games. I am pleased that HP provided plenty of useful ports on this model. There is a 45W AC pin power port, (2) 3.0 SS USB A ports, (1) 3.0 SS USB C port and (1) 1.4b HDMI port. There is also a headphone and microphone combo port on the right. The keyboard has a large, clear font and has a much desired (by workers and students)10-key numerical input. There is no Ethernet port. This HP has WiFi 6. There is a sufficient 720p front facing video camera that can be placed in privacy mode with the privacy hood. Paired with the camera are the built-in HD Audio microphone and Stereo speakers, which make for good Zoom meetings or other connected encounters. The battery life is rated at up to 7 and 3/4 hours, but I haven't tested this out, since I usually leave my laptops plugged into an outlet. All-in-all this HP 15-fd0127dx model has everything I need for most work and casual play. I wouldn't use it for accurate color reproduction for movies or photos, and I wouldn't use it for heavy duty online gaming, but it will do just about anything else that you can throw at it and do it well.

My business is IT – so I see all kinds of laptops, desktops, all-in-ones everyday day. Today I received the HP - 15.6" Full HD Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Natural Silver, Model:15-fd0127dx and gave it a run. Setup was a breeze – like most Windows PCs today. No glitches or issues right out of the box. The initial impression is that it’s a clean-looking machine, light with a small 45 watt charger. Weighs in at less than 4 lbs total including charger. HOWEVER, the first thing that caught my eye is the old-style round plug charger. I just can’t figure out why manufacturers don’t just leverage the more modern USB-C charging that many of today’s laptops already have built in. Can it really save you that much money? HP – if you’re reading this – we’d love an explanation! That took 1 Star off the review immediately. Next, once setup, I began to surf the web a bit and type a few documents. In fact, I’m typing this review on the very device – and I’m notice a bit of funkiness with the keyboard. I guess it just doesn’t really feel solid to me as it gives in a little bit when typing. Also has a very plastic-like feel and click to the keyboard. May not bother you – but I notice it. The screen is very nice – although not 4k quality, it will suffice for most business and productivity use cases – as this is NOT a gaming laptop. It folds out to about 120 degrees, feels solid when using the touchscreen (doesn’t seem to move if you have light fingers) and produces nice colors and clarity. This model has a large touchpad that works well and feels responsive. It supports multi-finger gestures, and I feel it is suited to this mid-range laptop style. On all my machines, I use a Passmark Performance Test tool to compare the main components. Overall – this machine produces decent CPU test scores and great SSD hard disk scores (see attached screenshots). It lacks a dedicated GPU (which is why this isn’t a gaming rig) but it will work perfectly well for everyday surfing, streaming and office work. Lack of more USB-C ports lost this machine another star in my rating – you only have 1. You have two other USB-A ports available – do don’t plan to plug lots or peripherals into this laptop unless you have a USB-C dock. Overall – it’s a fine machine for everyday use, just a bit on the lower side for specs and performance.

This works well for what I want it to do. Just wish the battery life could last longer without having to be charged as I don't do a lot of gaming. I just do emails, a little searching online, a little facebook time and some other things like banking and such. Love the touch screen option.

Purchased this product for my granddaughter for her college classes. The computer fits nicely in her backpack, she loves the touch-screen, and very pleased with the fast performance and ability to multi-task with ease. She is thrilled and I am as well. She now has a computer that should get her through her college years!!! In addition, the Sales Associate was very helpful and patient which was much appreciated. I would not hesitate to recommend the experience to anyone as well as the My Best Buy Total Membership!

I needed a computer for some pretty standard work and for minor video edits, and it has been great! Perhaps the only downside is that the battery does not last too long (about four hours). But if you do most of the work from a desk, that really is not a problem. It's really quick and easy to use.

Very good laptop, it runs fast and works smoothly. The screen looks great and is comfortable for studying or working. It’s a **very good option for engineering students**, as it handles demanding programs and tasks well. Overall, it performs perfectly and has a nice, modern design.

Its fast. Light, not bulky or heavy at all. The slim body allows it in any space. I didn't expect it to be this slim based on the previous HP I owned, took me by surprise. Battery life is good. That touchscreen capability is such a great touch.

So far, good mid range laptop for home use. It was easy to transfer files and programs from previous laptop. I reduced my rating for a number of irritants: short battery life, quirky mousepad, and continued push to purchase Office 365 (I already have the full Office suite installed), and McAfee anti-virus (again, I already have an anti-virus installed). Otherwise, I like the look and lightweight feel.

Overall its a very good laptop especially for the price. Good performance. Excellent display and processor (i7) Memory 16gb is ok but i think i can add more if needed. The build quality is not that great, on the other side its light weight. The touch pad sides bend on palm rest has an impact on the left button. Not an issue if it is on a flat surface. Overall happy customer here.

Replaced my college student’s old HP with this one and it is great! Lightweight, touch screen is a plus as well as 10 key. Could have a better battery life but overall a sturdy machine.

Really enjoying the laptop once I fully learn how to maneuver through the screens, then I can enjoy it more. the problem is owner issues, not the product. I love the crisp clear screen, I love that its touch screen and definitely love the speed.

The 512GB SSD ensures quick boot-up times and application loading. * Clear Touchscreen Display: The 15.6-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080) touchscreen is bright enough for indoor use and offers good clarity. The touch functionality is responsive and convenient for quick interactions. * Decent Port Selection (with caveats): It offers a good array of USB-A and HDMI ports for connecting peripherals, which is essential for my workflow. * Privacy Shutter for Webcam: The inclusion of a physical privacy shutter for the 720p webcam is a welcome feature, providing peace of mind. Areas Where It Falls Short (The "Quality Gap"): * Build Quality and Materials: This is perhaps the most noticeable difference compared to my previous Envy x360. The 15-fd0127dx feels predominantly plastic, especially the keyboard base and bottom. While perfectly functional, it lacks the premium, solid feel of the aluminum chassis found on the Envy series. It doesn't inspire the same confidence in durability. * Lack of Backlit Keyboard: A significant downgrade for me is the absence of a backlit keyboard. This is a feature I heavily relied on for working in low-light conditions, and its omission is keenly felt. For a laptop in this price range, I expected this to be standard. * Limited USB-C Functionality: While it has a USB-C port, it's limited to data transfer only (5Gbps) and does not support video output (DisplayPort) or power delivery. This means I can't use it with a modern docking station or for single-cable charging, which was a convenience I enjoyed with my Envy. * Webcam Quality and Biometrics: The 720p webcam is passable for video calls but doesn't offer the crispness or advanced features (like Windows Hello facial recognition) that were present on my previous laptop or are common on higher-tier models. * Overall "Feel": Beyond the specific features, there's a general sense that this laptop is built to a more budget-conscious standard. The speakers are adequate but not as rich as those found in the Envy line, and the overall design feels less refined. Conclusion: The HP Laptop 15-fd0127dx is a perfectly functional computer for everyday tasks and a suitable replacement if you prioritize core performance at a reasonable price point. However, if you're transitioning from a higher-end model like the HP Envy x360, be prepared for a noticeable step down in perceived build quality, premium features like a backlit keyboard, and the versatility offered by a more robust USB-C port. While it gets the job done, it doesn't offer the same level of refinement or user experience I was accustomed to. I would recommend this laptop for students or users with basic computing needs who aren't looking for a premium feel or advanced features. For those seeking a truly comparable experience to an Envy, it might be worth investing in a higher-tier model.

Good screen size and speed but battery not so long lasting

Exactly what I needed. Fast, easy to use right out of the box. Great bang for buck. Screen is clear HD and touch screen is very responsive. Perfect for work, streaming and schoolwork. No problems with it.

The laptop itself is nice, fast for what I need it for. The specs have a discrepancy in the listing that state there is a backlit keyboard — there is not. Outside of that — it does what it needs to. Very lightweight. Runs hot when it’s busy.
