Purchased this computer looking for a casual piece to check emails, surf the web, listen to music and watch netflix. I did not need all the bells and whistles. This was perfect. For the price, the value is great. The only downside is that the keyboard takes a little bit to break in.

    Nice laptop

I purchased this laptop for a family member and am very pleased with it. It does everything a basic laptop should do, browse the internet, play movies and music and light office work. It comes with Windows 10 which is still working out some of the kinks and bugs. The Edge browser is not as good as Internet explorer. Happy with the purchase.

    Buyer Beware

Just found out that this laptop shipped to me with the wrong graphics card. Should be a Radeon R4 with 2gb memory. What I got was the R3 and 512mb memory. 1/4 of what it is supposed to be. Also, the touch pad is poor. Unresponsive at times and jerky. Seems to be no driver update or fix. But it is usable. I do like the overall look and feel of the laptop. Very light and thin. Probably because of the 3 cell battery. I would have given 4 stars if it had the advertised graphics card. Not sure if I would recommend this or not. Probably would if it stays around $260. Would not if price exceeds $300.

    Excellent Laptop

I read many reviews about this laptop. Some good and others not so much. I started using computers back before there was Windows. And then came Windows ,then Windows 3.1, Windows 95, 98 etc. XP anyway I really love this laptop. I use it about 12 + hours a day everyday, streaming videos, editing documents ,and listening to music. I have never had any problem with this pc being slow or no other problems. I didn't really care for Vista or Windows 7 for that matter but they have a real hit with Windows 10 it works great and is a VERY stable platform. Don't think of this Laptop as a budget Laptop because of the price . Its not even close to budget this pc is an excellent laptop, i'm glad I took a chance in fact my wife and I both have this same model.

I purchased this on the advice of a real expert on computers. This is fast, great speakers! Great keyboard with the numbers on top and the 5 key on the side. Screen is spectacular, and with the speakers it is nice to watch shows on. Battery life is great. After much research and recomendation I found a great computer at a great price. You really can't go wrong with this one!!!!

This is a good computer at a great price. I am not a gamer so I do not need high performance. It is perfectly adequate for running Office and also accessing the internet. I use the computer in the field for amateur astronomy so its low power consumption is a plus. It runs my astronomy software without problem. In the field, I cannot use a touchscreen so the lack of one is no problem with this computer.

    Not for me

There's a reason they don't have them out on display - they didn't at my store at least. I bought 2 of these for my kids and they'll both be returned. The laptop has a textured surface to it which I could live with. But the mousepad is also textured and after using it for a short period of time my finger tip feels like I've been rubbing it on sand paper. That might be drastic but it's not comfortable. PROS: Size, lightweight, decent screen CONS: Textured mousepad rubs your fingers raw Sound is horrible - imagine speakers inside an enclosed box. No access panel to add RAM Keys stick Slow response time Overall cheap feel to it I'm not real sure what I expected for $260 but the textured mousepads were enough for me to return them.

My daughter bought me this laptop for Christmas. And it was great for the first couple of weeks. After that, I kept having to restart Windows 10 because of an issue with the task bar. It's become a bit of a nuisance now...other than that...it works fine.

I bought this laptop to replace my Toshiba Satellite 6GB RAM laptop that I had for 3 years. This HP has 2 GB less RAM and I do not notice any difference in speed. This is my first HP after a Dell Inspiron and 2 Toshibas, and I can already tell you I like HP's setup process the best. I was online in a little under 10 minutes. The speakers are decent and the graphics are beautiful. I attend school online, watch a lot of videos and write a lot, and this laptop is more than suitable for all of the above. NOTE: For those who complain about this and other low-end laptops being slow and laggy I think you would do well to uninstall McAfee right away and go with whatever free antivirus may have come with your machine (mine came with 6 months of Trend Micro) or anything other than McAfee as it is just too CPU intensive for a low-end PC. Bottom line: This is a great value!

So far so good...medium grade laptop but it was cheap and lightweight. My old ASUS was falling apart and time to get a new machine although the old ASUS had a faster processor.

    Basic entry level HP laptop

This laptop comes with Windows 10 installed. You cannot downgrade to an earlier version of Windows. So, if you can deal with Windows 10, you probably won't have any issues. Set up was easy enough. Speed is fast enough to stream and cast Netflix to the TV with no problems via Google Chrome and Chromecast. The lid is a fingerprint magnet. The touchpad is left of center and not depressed or well defined. It took a while to get used to it. It's still a bit hard to find by touch alone. Sound quality is a bit fuzzy, but good enough for the price. Overall, a good entry level laptop for surfing the web, email, streaming video.

Video play freezes and TOUCHPAD SOFTWARE SUCKS

If you plan on watching videos and multitasking expect a crash, and the touch pad, 1st there is no way to permanently disable the touch-pad "tap to open option" you can disable it, but when you shut down or put your PC to sleep, it comes right back on and you have to repeat the same steps everyday, "so to disable tap to click/ open I have to everyday go to, control panel, mouse setting, additional setting, Synaptic setting, add Synaptic setting to taskbar, left click, then click disable tap to click, PS it remove itself from the taskbar, when you put the system to sleep or restart, if you hate reverse scrolling your going to hate this PC, because your going to have to repeat those same steps to temporary disable reverse scrolling.

My 5 mo old new Asus I got on sale at $139 on Black Friday;s started being solid frozen once a month - I had to power off on each time to get it working. It is going die soon I think ...... So ... been waiting to buy this HP laptop - yesterday I got this laptop on sale for $229. Just like the reviews - the set up, updates so smooth - no glitches , no errors . Looks like it is what the reviews have been saying ' no frill - cheap - and working laptop. I buy one more when it drops to $200 for a spare. Time will tell how long this one last.
