This computer gets job done. Only used for personal. The sales person told me this was quad core but it is only a dual core.

System is alright. It will work for the basic user who just surfs the net and uses word sometimes. The plastic on it is easily scratched so put a protective cover or just be careful.

The HP laptop set up was fine. It worked ok for an hour or so. Then it would not connect to wireless n/w while all other devices were connecting fine. I tried all possible trouble shooting, reboot etc, but none works. Have to take it back.

I spent several weeks shopping around to get the most features in a laptop around the $400 price range. The core i3 processor is fast when paired with 6GB RAM, and streaming video is no longer an issue. For a 15.6 inch display, it is surprisingly thin and light. Admittedly, I don't carry it to work or school, but the 750GB HDD and DVD drive make it a great replacement for my bulky desktop. I can actually use my desk for other projects now. I bought an oversized monitor shelf that houses the laptop underneath, and connected my 23 inch monitor with an HDMI. The laptop has a function key designated to control the dual monitor feature. A low price wireless keyboard/mouse combo from logitech brings me back to a big computer feel, and I can easily unplug for quick mobility. Windows 8 has been a huge disappointment to me, so I opted for this model without touchscreen display. I planned on using the more traditional Windows 7 desktop screen from the start, so if you prefer the apps from Windows Store, you may want to consider the next level model from HP. I imagine that touch capabilities make frequent app use faster. The bloatware at purchase was minimal, and no more difficult to remove than on other computers I've purchased. There are enough USB's to add Bluetooth capabilities, a portable HDD full of music and video, and have one to spare.

right thing, in buying this laptop! I'd had 17" 6 years ago and although I liked it, it weighed 400 pounds and I needed a Prius just to drive it around town. This is the perfect size, 15.6" and has all the bells I've wanted to whistle at. I had a full pc in my bedroom, with 310 miles of drooping cords, sagging ethernet cables and a sub-woofer that made better margaritas than my ex wife. I hated looking at it all and decided to go lean and mean. I did my homework and other than spending another $500 for a slightly bigger hard drive and speed that would rival a Glock, I bought this model a day before Christmas. At the same time, I picked up ($20) a bluetooth usb adapter to go with my stereo JBL speaker, as well as a usb wireless mouse. I bought a Netgear 750 Router and this thing is fast, even with me being 2nd from the bottom on internet speed with Cox Cable. I've spent the last several days just playing around with Windows 8.1 and it's not so bad. Vista was good, but this has some better features once you get used to where to find them. The CD/DVD drive is a big plus- I won't have to lug around a separate piece of tech. This laptop does tend to power down right near 11% of charge, so keep your a/c cord handy. I've yet to get a full 4.5 hours out of this and I'm barely doing more than online videos/news/email. I loaded 62 music DVD's in less than 90 seconds each, then transferred the entire library to my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone in seconds!! Before I travel, I think I'll pick-up a 2nd battery to keep as a spare. Swapping out batteries in this is such a breeze. I wanted to get something wireless as a home pc that would last me until Windows 10 comes out in mid-2015. Then, I might get something bigger as in 17". But overall, this basically is something that has all I really need.

I bought this to replace an old HP laptop that I bought at Best Buy about 5 years ago. Though that old laptop had the somewhat buggy vista operating system, that computer worked very well and was very fast. Well, this HP laptop, blows that computer away. I've had this laptop about one month now and I have not had one single issue with it, which is amazing. This laptop is very fast... boot up and shutdown time take just seconds. It can handle multiple apps running with no problem. I'm not a gamer or super power user so I can't say how it performs under those conditions but for my general use this computer handle everything I throw at it with no problem. I love it. I did put on Classic Shell to makes Windows 8.1 more tolerable, as Windows 8 is sort of a schizophrenic operating system, but I've grown to like Windows 8 as it is very fast and stable and works well once you are familiar with it. I like that this laptop does not have the touch screen which I really had no use for. It's very fast and hasn't had any issues. I think it is very good value for the money.

I’m sixty years old, legally blind, and I would say more computer savvy than most my age. This HP laptop is the first new laptop computer I have ever had. I decided I needed to upgrade from Windows 7 that’s on my desk top to Windows 8.1 so went with a laptop instead of a desk top as I like my Windows 7 desk top. I spent at least one month doing as much research as possible deciding on what I needed in a computer from hard drive size, RAM, processor etc. I’ve read countless reviews on different brands, [they are rather limited as most are first impression as most are written just after purchase so not helpful when it comes to how durable or dependable for long term use]. My decision was made by the money I could afford, value for the money, this had an Intel core 3 processor [I don’t game but more than fast enough for my use] plenty of hard drive space and RAM. All in all this was a very good buy for the money, I also saved 50 dollars as it was on sale. So far I really like the computer and would recommend this to anyone. I have used it for going on two weeks. I decided to buy the Geek Squad warranty as I hate dealing with over the phone warranty issues. This way you can walk into the store and do your business. Everything works great and I like the bright screen as its good for those who have vision issues. It also works well with my HP wireless printer. The only thing I didn’t like was the DVD software that came with the computer as you had to be online in order to use it. So I called and got the name of a free dvd player download called “ VLC” and it is great and free as well. I don’t use McAfee as I don’t like to pay for my virus protector so I use “Avast” which is free. I’ve used it successfully for over 13 years and so far no problems. I hope this has been a helpful preview. Rate this a 5 and don’t be afraid to buy this HP model computer.

And not to mention the second laptop I've purchased at that store.

I had to upgrade my daughters school computer that was very old. Checked many computer options for a good deal and would last. So she could surf internet, school assignments and do them fast. She did not want a touch screen due to learning the new windows is enough for now. This computer is great, meets all our requirements, 15.6", includes Hard Drive, I3 fast, memory 6GB, HD 750GB, and I installed free Open Office Software to use with Windows 8.1 for past file use. I wish it would of came in colors but the black works due to the nice lightweight design. It comes in a touch screen that folds over for a tablet if you are ready for complete change and portability.

I was in the market for a computer to browse the web, watch Netflix, and shop. I didn't want anything fancy, when I came across the touch screen counterpart. I wasn't interested in that technology, and found this computer. With more ram, more GHz, and bigger hard drive for the same price, it seemed like a no brainer. The computer itself runs well. It's very thin compared to my last laptop. Lightweight. My only gripe about it so far is that when the fan kicks in, its a little noisy. It sounds like it may be hitting something else unless on a totally flat surface. Overall, I'm happy. This is going to be more than enough for my needs

I purchased the 15-f111dx model for my girlfriend for Christmas, which has been ok. I decided to purchase this one, another budget laptop. I have been pleasantly surprised by this laptop. It's runs faster than hers, no keys are sticking, and the touchpad seems to work better. Still not a fan of windows 8, but I'll live with it for the price. Now to figure out how to fix hers!

I was looking for a laptop with 15.6" screen with i3 processor, 4 GB RAM, 500 GB HDD with Windows 8 for home use for myself, while researching just happened to chance upon this model! It was a deal too good to be true! not only got 6GB RAM, but also 750 GB hard disk. I was so thrilled bought 2 of them. One for me and gifted another to my cousin who just started college! Just go for it! Its the best for the price!

Here's my review for every section. Design: Black finish, comes with 2 stickers below the keyboard. User removable battery. Performance: Very fast, didn't see any lag until I had 6 tabs opened (browser and desktop tabs) and 2 things downloading. Game Performance: All games no Anti-Aliasing Half Life 2: High 80 FPS, Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box: High 50 FPS, Garry's Mod, High 40 FPS(Went up to 140 once on a Super Mario 64 Map), and Minecraft: Medium 100 FPS. Display: HD looks very nice. Webcam: Looks slightly lower than an iPod 4th gen's quality. Overall it is very good for everyday use. You can play most 7th gen games on it with no problems.

Got this computer for Christmas. Shortly after taking it out of the box and starting it up, it asked to do an update. When my computer restarted, the wireless driver was deleted. Geek Squad fixed it for me and I was on my merry way. Few days later it did the same thing with an update. Took it back to Geek Squad and they gave me a new computer. New computer worked great until today when I'm in the middle of work, it asks to do an update so I say yes. What do you know, the wireless driver is not working again. Anyone else having this same problem?

I checked this laptop out in store before I purchased. It is a good value for a basic laptop. We will just be using it for our kids homework and it runs MS Office 2013 just fine. Not a lot of pre-loaded software to slow it down. I am satisfied with this purchase for the price.
