Great Deal
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer is actually very fast .Remember to adjust setting to high performance or the wifi might be a bit weak with the recommended setiings. Its 4 G but unless you are a gamer its all you need.I was actually doing a lot of work on several pages and it was maintaining a great and consistent speed.Where do you get an i5 for 399 ....great computer !

Nice Laptop for the price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this laptop open box for $315. I've had it for about a week and its been great. I had to upgrade an hp driver for the dvd player to work. I'm glad I didnt spend a thousand dollars on a higher quality laptop because this one works just fine for web browsing, checking e-mail, watching netflix, youtube videos and work programs. The camera isn't the highest quality for skyping but decent enough. Overall it was a good buy.

It is a wonderful simple laptop
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a computer tech. I've read in the comments that you can't upgrade the RAM, that is false you can upgrade it you just have to take the back off. It supports up to 8 gigs but I splerged and tweeked it so it supports 16. If you upgrade the RAM and possibly the hard drive to a sad it will run faster and smoother. How it is currently it will be suitable for office and school but not so much gaming it doesn't have a graphics card and has a simple cooling system so putting too much load may make it run a little hotter. All in all great laptop and I recommend to all for it has the capibility to perform if you upgrade it a little.

Not that great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted an upgrade from my 7 year old computer running VISTA. It was running slowly. This new HP, runs about as fast as my old one does. I was quite disappointed. BUT, it will do as most of my programs have stopped using VISTA to run them. I didn't want a gaming machine (I don't play computer games#, so that was fine, but really, this slow !! When I got it home I downloaded #1st thing I downloaded# was CHROME for Windows 10, and ended up getting a virus on the system.... The computer comes with Mcafee Antivirus,#what can I say). So be VERY CAREFUL . No backlighting on keyboard, so it's a bit disappointing, but was not going for the big expense and have to buy an upgrade in a few years..... Been there and done that several times in years past.

Good little work horse
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for programming and not playing games. So far its working great (Adobe can be cruel sometimes). The only issue I have is that for some reason they didn't put a light on the num lock key. I'm someone who uses the num pad regularly for entering numbers and I find this to be annoying.

Good system but difficult to upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I read the reviews here and before purchasing the laptop. It's a nice system with good build quality, but I quickly ran into a wall as I started multitasking multiple programs. No problem, let's upgrade the memory to 16gb.... I discovered this HP laptop line does not have user upgradeable memory. Online videos show the system has to be disassembled to access the memory port! I probably would have done do it, except the videos show the laptop has only one memory port. I expect closed systems from a cell phone, not a laptop. It will reluctantly be returned.

Won't turn on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Received laptop and immediately went to play with it, booted up fine, charged and ran fine, put it away. Next day pulled it out to check emails and nothing, charging indicator light is off, no boot up just three flashes from charging indicator light when power button pressed. Tried static discharge and all other recommended solutions online and same results. After searching many are having similar problems with new hp's, would not buy another as it seems they have a quality control issue.

Lousy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Can't wait to return this laptop. My other choice is enroute. This HP is loaded with good guts...but cannot perform. It hangs when scrolling, freezes...Pages (windows) will completely disappear. It does not multitask. Even having just 2 windows open gives it issues. I've never been an HP fan, but the price was good and the laptop was loaded for bear. I'm glad I didn't have a bear encounter while I owned this!! Spend the extra $50-75 - get a Toshiba! Waiting for mine to arrive and returning this within my 14 day trial. Thankful all these issues showed right away. Another issue: the keyboard has tiny keys. I'm a 5'3" female and type 80wpm - this keyboard is not user friendly.

Do not buy this item
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The cursor does not respond to taps on the touch pad. It takes 4-5 taps before it responds. The cursor does not move on the screen and gets stuck. You have to move the cursor off the item and try several times back on the item before it moves. Probably the same problem--the cursor does not respond to the touch pad. Don't buy this HP notebook!

Descent
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Descent low cost laptop. Does the job. Not too fast, track pad isn't too comfortable. Keyboard a bit... clunky. I'm not a fan of the material its made of. It looks really cheap. But over all you get pretty good processor for the price, add some RAM and it will work fine for simple tasks.

Slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my six year old desktop with a quad core processor running windows10. I found it to be slower than my desktop and my acer chromebook. The touchpad is unresponsive and the keyboard is of poor quality. I will be returning it and will probably buy a comparable laptop of another brand. I guess you get what you pay for.

Broke Less than a Month after purchasing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this laptop Feb 4. Now on Feb 29 it froze up and now it will not do anything but show a black screen. It is just shy of the time I can return it to the store. I am now stuck with a busted computer and a waste of nearly $400.
