Battery dies in exactly 1 year

I have the model 15-ay009dx which is the exact laptop as this one with the only difference being the mine is a 6gb and this one is a 8gb but everything else is the same.this laptop is a nice economic laptop seems to work well for the price with the only exception being that the batteries on these laptops stop holding their charge within one year. I was extremely careful with my laptop making sure it was always unplugged from the outlet once it was fully charged yet somehow it managed to die. The worst part is that my HP factory warranty ended on December 29 2017 and the battery took a dive on January 10 2018 and if you contact Hp all they say is we will look into it (what a joke) When considering this laptop if you intend to use it to carry around for work or school in hopes to use it without being plugged in to a wall outlet I would strongly suggest looking for another laptop or a different brand otherwise be ready to spend $80 on a battery replacement.

I bought this in 2018 and had a good run. The last few months it started making a loud noise and I just thought it was the fan. But unfortunately, I think it was the motherboard and it died. But I loved it!

I love my laptop. I used to have a Windows 8 dell, and it eventually wore out so I had to get a new one. The transition from 8 to 10 was easy, and it really helped with school work. The touch screen it a nice feature, and my favorite is the amount of storage space it has. I use it everyday.

    Amazing For Price

I needed a computer for school. I just bought this, and everything works very well. The only things that aren't amazing .. the camera is SO GRAINY, it has skipped laughable, and is downright pathetic. LIKE OK LETTUCE HEAD ....The screen resolution is not particularly great (still way better than public computers, but looking at Instagram made me want to die) &&& the keys do not light up (but it is not a problem for me since I type without looking at the keyboard). BUT FOR $379.. HECK YEAH!! I AIN'T SPENDING $1099 FOR A MAC JUST SO I CAN DO HOMEWORK IN THE COMFORT OF MY OWN DOJO! Perfect cheap-o computer for anyone with simple needs such as adequate speakers, a cd drive, etc.

    Perfect for college student

After looking around for so long, I finally found the perfect laptop for a college student on a budget! I was pleasantly surprised by how fast the computer ran with the Intel i3 processor and how sleek and nice it was! Ran multiple windows and didn't notice an slowing of the computer. The touchscreen is nice, but certainly not needed. If there was a cheaper option with the exact same specs, but no touch screen, I would've bought that one. Only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is because the computer moves at a glacial pace when starting up, the screen is not very good resolution and not very sharp, and the back part of the laptop with the HP logo and right below the keyboard are absolute finger print magnets! Nonetheless, I am able to look past these because the pros outweigh the cons. Great budget laptop! I've only had the computer 24 hours and these are the first things I noticed. Now we wait and see how the computer lasts through my freshman year of college!

Bought in 2018 for photography/art school. Great graphics and storage, and easy to use, but after a year or so the processor started running slow taking forever to boot up and or open applications. Now the computer freezes when entering any application request and has to be repaired. My mom recently purchased the same one and has to take it in to Geek squad 2 times within the first year for repairs.

I have numerous HP devices in my home and office and I love them however, I have tried two of these laptops and they both have the same problem. wifi reception is very very poor. 10 ft! Confirmed by their tech support. Every other wifi device I have, 7 devices, all have 3 to 5 bars on the wifi ICON. This laptop...NO bars. Everything else including the touch screen was great. Too bad.

I needed a laptop that I could use for college. This laptop is perfect for everything I need. I’ve had it about 2 months and have had no problems. I wish it was a little lighter, but other than that it is an amazing laptop. Easy to use and the touchscreen is a huge plus. No regrets!

    Lousiest Laptop

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is one of the worst laptops. The screen is not HD, the display of colors is not vibrant. I attempted playing YouTube videos, videos, movies on the laptop and they all looked not bright and so clear. Audio is not up to the mark. The start up timing is long and getting files from hard drive is slow. I ended up returning the laptop, though the price is cheap.

    1. Good battery life. 2. Processor is fast enough for multi tasking(downlading+watching video+many other applications running backend) 3. light weight when compared to my 2014 HP Envy model. 4. Touch screen is so good than expected.

    No April Fools Joke

Received this computer near the end of last week with the expectations that it would work reasonably well for the price paid- On Sale for $379.99. Sadly, as I am writing this message it is Sunday - April Fools Day 2018, as, reports of not being able to connect to Wifi (less than 10 feet away) are accurate. I read in a previous post, in which, someone else wrote they could not connect to Wifi, but, I thought perhaps this is a rare situation; HOWEVER, I will be returning this computer for another brand, by tomorrow, as no one should have to deal with something, which in an age of modern computers wifi access should be relatively easy. Don't waste your time or money on this HP laptop, or, perhaps other HP computers, too? In my opinion, it does not matter if this computer is good in other areas or not, if it cannot easily connect to Wifi.

I've always shied away from HP laptops as they aren't noted for their reliability, but this model had all the features I wanted for a good price. Now I'm glad I chose it. The keyboard is comfortable and the speakers sound so much better than my old Asus. It has a disc drive which many new laptops don't and I also like the fact that it has a pop-out battery. When the battery on my old Asus died, I had to remove the keyboard to get at it which was a real pain. Congratulations HP, you've done well!

I love my computer my husband bought me for Christmas last year. I like the clarity of pictures the quality of music and videos it amazing. I had an older Gateway laptop and my HP is so much better. I have not had any issues with my HP so far. It also updates quickly and includes Cortana which is kind of like Alexa.
