I'm very pleased with this laptop. Setup was simple and I've had no problems. So far so good. If you're looking for a laptop for personal use, this is one you should definitely consider.

Sorry I bought this HP - don't go cheap

I'm disappointed with this laptop and sorry I bought it. I will never go cheap on a laptop again. I spent extra money on my daughter's laptop (Dell) that I bought her for college and her laptop performs a lot better- I believe hers has an Intel I-7 processor. The I-3 processor in this HP laptop is extremely slow and I have difficulty trying to electronically sign specific documents and such with it. I am also disappointed that the salesperson at Best Buy didn't try to warn me about how awful this one performs- I didn't know much about the processors in these things- I just know I only had so much money to spend on one at the time. Do not go cheap on a lap top and do not get a an Intel Core I3 processor- you will be sorry! Let this be a warning to those looking to buy a new laptop! I wish I could take this thing back and get my money back but it's been over a year now.

Never ever buy HP laptop again. I bought HP laptop 2 years ago and got enormous issues right away: motherboard failed twice, power jack loose. The only thing HP customer service tells you is to buy a new laptop with their "special" discount since to fix your laptop would be even more expensive. They don't care about the data you want to recover from your laptop!!!

    Do Not Buy

I bought this computer based upon the reviews. After two days of usage it is going back. First it is slow. It takes quite a while for the pc to boot up and load. Next the battery life is horrible. While barely running any applications, my battery was down 25%. The fan never shuts off. Once you do start some applications, the fan never shuts off. It constantly runs. Worse was the audible clicking I heard on the second day I owned it. Followed by a grinding which strongly indicates a platter problem. I am going to upgrade to a better pc.

    It's lightweight

I purchased this because my Toshiba quit on me after about 8 years (I really loved that laptop). All I can say about this new laptop, is it doesn't compare to my Toshiba. It has made weird noises since the beginning (literally). Very slow as well. The positives: it's lightweight in comparison to my Toshiba and has newer features in it. May never purchase an Hp again if I end up needing another laptop.

    Bad Hinges

operation wise is okay. This is used only at home for daughter using for courses online. Hinges break the housing and are very inefficient for use in this case assembly. Too stiff and eventually break the case causing not able to close. 1 year old dumpster Frisbee. :-(

    abysmal quality

I went into the store to by a Dell. Best Buy website said they had one in stock. When I arrived the one "in stock" was on display, None in stock and unable to obtain any more. Conveniently, this HP was sitting right next to the Dell I wanted. Bait and switch? In spite of being more flimsy and lower quality looking than the Dell I though I'd try it since the specs were equivalent and I had already made the drive. The first time I shut it down, twenty minutes out-of-the-box it wouldn't re-start. I found many postings on the internet mentioning the same problem. I was able to turn it back on after re-booting after removing the battery. It was difficult getting the battery back in because of the poor fit. After the reboot it was extremely slow in getting the desktop back up. I'd expect more from a $250 laptop from Walmart.

    Horrible screen

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don’t buy this laptop. The screen is horrible. It never occurred to me to check the resolution — who sells a laptop nowadays with a screen this bad? — but it has a max of 1366 x 768, which makes it nearly impossible to read any text. I have no idea why anyone would buy this product, or why HP would even make it. And of course I thought I had 30 days to return it at Best Buy but it was really 14 days, so now I’m stuck with it. I’ll have to sell on craigslist and eat the loss. I won’t be buying the next one at Best Buy or from HP.

    Get what you pay for

Purchased this computer because a touchscreen for less than $500 seemed like a steal. But a deal is only worth it if the product works. This computer is a piece of junk. It has been slower than molasses from the first crank. The hard drive is clicking and has frozen and repaired itself twice. I have had it less than 3 months. I have owned a dozen PCs and this has to be the worst. When I took it back to the store, diagnostics said there was nothing wrong with the hard drive. I was literally told "You get what you pay for." So why is Best Buy selling this piece of junk?
