I ordered this online thinking it was an aluminum casing but ended up being cheap plastic w a horrible screen I don't recommend this.

This is a great value for features and speed. I have actually purchased 3 of these yet have only set up one so far. Easy to set up (though I don't like Microsoft's new policy of having to open a Microsoft account to get started). It comes set up with Windows 10 S mode which is a locked down version of Windows. What this means is that if you keep it in S mode you can only use Microsoft Store apps and programs and need to use Edge as your browser. I've kept the first machine in S mode since Edge supports what my teenager needs for school (Google classroom) and theoretically should be less prone to viruses and ransomware (this S version appears to be trying to emulate Apple's iOS in terms of security). I will be taking the other machines out of S mode (which means I can never go back to Sleep mode. A lot of laptops are now shipping set up in S mode which can be confusing). Where this laptop shines is it's speed! With 12 gb of memory (vs 8 gb for most other laptops sold at Best Buy stores) plus the 16 gb of Optane memory (which speeds up start up and repetitive tasks) this machine cranks! I've not had a chance to really push it, yet most of the tasks I will use it for are not considered intensive ( I'm not a gamer). However for school, work, streaming purposes I think it's a great value. My one wish is that it had a 500 gb hard drive as standard equipment yet once again the laptops in the stores (and even online) rarely come configured that way (and definitely not for $499). Reportedly battery life is fantastic yet my teenager keeps it plugged in a lot when using it so don't know yet. It doesn't have a CD/DVD reader yet you can get a USB one for around $30. Finally it is pretty light and thin and doesn't heat up much. Quiet also. Hope this helps.

Very time consuming and tedious to set up. The power cord got so hot that I thought it was going to catch on fire. Did not plug it back in for a while. Did again on Christmas Day and it overheated again.

This would more than likely be a good computer for a HS student or someone not using big programs. I found it bogged down when using quicken and had a spreadsheet open. so I returned it.

Returned this computer because the resolution of the display was fuzzy and the colors were indistinct. Reading printed material the rendering was blue grey and hard to read

Probably a fine laptop for a beginner or email only type of person. I am demanding with my laptop and this one could not keep up. Traded up for a better laptop.

I had a old Lenovo that starting slowing then I decided to purchase this HP . After 2 months starting slowing worst than my old computer . I run all tests from HP and Windows and nothing . I was in Best Buy and they told me I cannot return . I will never purchase another HP and I will never purchase more at Best Buy . I ‘m customer from 22 years and they cannot do nothing in my laptop,

This is my 3rd HP laptop. I have been so very happy with HP until the purchase of this one. I am so very disappointed. There is a terrible lag in anything I try to do. This laptop is only 2 weeks old and works as if it is 5 years old. The speed is very slow. I did purchase the Geek Squad plan, however I am sure if I call them I would be without my computer for several days. They work as slow as this terrible laptop. I wish I would have never purchased.

Returned! A 15.6 inch laptop and 1366 x 768 (HD) resolution = Disaster Looks terrible in screen quality.

Bad screen, slow to load everything and crammed full of way to many "extra programs" from the start. Save your money

We had to return this would not work correctly. Returned in less than a week!

Had the computer 4 months and it wouldn't turn on. Took 2 weeks to get an appointment with Geek Squad who said they couldn't fix it. They sent it to the Midwest. Took 3 weeks to get it back. Now it won't turn on again. I had to buy a new computer because school is online and I can't be without a computer for a month.

The hard drive failed after only four months and cost $200 to fix. This shouldn't be happening to a computer that isn't even half a year old. I absolutely love this computer, but it's unreliable.

The laptop over all was nice, thin and well made. However, the internal technology was old and outdated. No WiFi AC, which means only connects to 2.5Ghz. Returned for a much better laptop.

This laptop has a single band network card. Every router in the world these days is dual band and there WILL be a conflict if you are using a dual band router. Your WIFI connection will be marginal at best! Buyer beware because the Best Buy team did not point this out!

I was very excited to purchase this new laptop, only to find out it freezes at least once a day (meaning I have to turn it off and start all over again) and has issues on start up and shutting down. Very disappointed and I do NOT recommend this laptop.

After only 4 months, the lap top Stopped Working!!! Went back to Best Buy to inquire what went wrong. I didn't really use it too much and it still broke. I was told THAT was the reason why. Don't buy this it all. TERRIBLE!!!!!!

SLOW AND TOUCH SCREEN STOPPED WORKING A COUPLE MONTHS AFTER i PURCHASED IT TOO FAR TO GO TO STORE TO GET IT FIXED. COVID ALSO MAKES IT HARD.

I just purchased this laptop 2 days ago. Went to set it up out of box and already had hardware issues. In the process of returning the laptop for another model.

Definitely has setup issues. Constantly kicks it’s itself off of the wi-fi and has to reset the adapter
