Love this Chromebook. Very speedy and the detachable design is fantastic. I use it for meeting noted with the pen and as my source of sheet music for the bands that I perform with. Pure tablet mode for note taking and I flip the screen around and fold it like a 2 in 1 with the keyboard underneath for sheet music. Using it reversed like that allows the rubber feet of the keyboard to stop it from sliding on an angled music stand

Let it be known before I dive into this review, that I am a dedicated Apple user. I've never had interest in any devices outside of Apple devices for a number of reasons. Mainly being they aren't the easiest to use in my career field (design). This Chromebook, however, has captured my interest. This little tablet/computer is pretty handy. I was mainly just looking for something portable, larger than my phone but more convenient than my laptop to have around the house or to take with me when traveling. I love the fact that I can use this device for anything from simple web browsing to office-program functions to watching Hulu or listening to music in the kitchen. The functionality is fast and very forward-thinking. Right from opening the box I was the stunned with the design. The ceramic white matte finish is so sleek looking. It honestly reminds me of Apple's design thinking. And I think the best part about this Chromebook is the detachable keyword. That's a game changer for me. Some things I like having a touch-screen surface for, but when I'm typing or working on something more in-depth that's where I like having actual keyboard functions. It's easy to detach and reattach and it seems sturdy and looks like it could take a little bit of a beating, which is good for my sometimes clumsy self. I think my only true complaint is I wish the keyboard lit up when in a dark area. The screen is so bright and clear but the keyboard is kind of hard for me to use without some sort of light on. Screen resolution is beautiful. Wonderful picture and movie quality, color display, etc... Battery life seems great. I haven't had to charge it in the 3 days I've had it and I've spent a decent amount of time playing with it. Setup was incredibly easy. Having a gmail account and using Chrome as your dominant browser make things effortless. Although, I do admit, since I primarily use Mac's, I struggled with the platform and how to download, open and switch to different screens. But it didn't take me long to adapt to the new surfaces and app store. Now to what I'm probably most excited about with this nifty device – the capability to draw on it. Being a designer, I'm constantly doodling or sketching out ideas and in this day and age, drawing with a pen and paper are pretty old school. The face that I can pick up the stylus that came with the Chromebook, touch it to the screen and start drawing is purely awesome. I've downloaded a hand full of Adobe sketching programs that I'm really excited to start utilizing. Even in the program the tablet comes with, you can sketch beautifully. You can change the weight of your line strokes and use multiple colors, send it to others or save it on to your device. Very handy. Overall, as a Apple user, I give this device two thumbs up and I'm incredibly happy with this product. HP, you're not that bad after all.

And I didnt want the best I could get but I wanted as close to perfect as I could and this laptop serves everything I need it to do and more. I would highly recommend buying. The HP X2 2 in 1 Chromebook is first of the new Chromebooks that can also detach from the keyboard to convert to a true tablet. The HP X2 2 in 1 Chromebooks has the capability to open the hinge through around 140 degrees and for the tablet display to be detached and reattached facing either direction so that the tablet and keyboard can be used in laptop mode, tablet mode with keyboard attached, screen presentation (facing away from the keyboard) or in tent mode or 2-in1 tablet mode You can also detach the display part of the 2 in 1 Chromebook to have a true Chromebook tablet that is only 0.3 inches thick and weighs 1.6 lbs. instead of a 2 in 1 configuration that is about 0.6 thick and about 3.07 lbs. The performance of the HP X2 Chromebook is excellent from my experience with it so far. I can't say it is the fastest Chromebook but I am sure it is among the fastest I have used. Including the HP X2 I have hands on four different models of Chromebook with 12.3 inch 2400 by 1600 displays and I think the HP X2 display is the best of the four. Battery life is the longest of all four, for the X2 streaming video from Netflix displayed with Chrome browser the battery life is 9 to 10 hours (10% per hour of streaming) with 10 to 12 hours of battery for some web browsing, email, offline games, and ebook reading. The other 12.3 2400 by 1600 Chromebooks I have used all have a little less battery life, streaming video battery life of 7 to 8 hours and web browsing battery life of 8 to 9 hours. The HP X2 speakers are front facing and quite loud although at the highest volume settings they began to sound tinny. The HP X2 has both front and rear cameras. I haven't seen another Chromebook with a rear camera, from the few minutes I played with the rear camera I have found some android camera control software that has flexable control of the camera resolution and other parameters but won't save images to the micro SD card. With a 13 Megapixel camera photo storage may be an significant issue. The active stylus works well but I wish that instead of a loop of fabric on the keyboard as a docking place for the stylus I wish a docking point on the tablet/display had been used, now when the tablet is detached there is no docking point for the stylus. When I start using the tablet detached from the keyboard much I will be looking hard for a cover/case for the tablet that includes a dock for the stylus. The HP X2 has a role of serving as a 2-in-1 laptop Chromebook. It fulfills the Chromebook 2-in-1 laptop role completely. The keyboard is not at all cramped with an outstanding key touch and response. The touch-pad on the keyboard is also excellent with a smooth and uniform multi-point sensitivity. The only slight negative is that it is heavier then the Google Pixelbook by about a half pound but it is still usable on my lap without discomfort. The active stylus works well, speakers are excellent, all the components are included in the package. I think the HP X2 is a premium Chromebook. The other HP X2 role is as a Chromebook Tablet. Detaching the tablet from the keyboard cuts the weight and thickness roughly in half and mobility is maximized. Input modes change from laptop keyboard to virtual screen keyboard, hand writing recognition, and speech recognition. With a tablet often only one hand may be free the other is holding the tablet. Depending on the venue virtual screen keyboard, hand writing recognition, and speech recognition become alternate input methods. The mobility of a tablet makes them very attractive to me personally in a casual use and entertainment role and I have and use several Android tablets in that role. The HP X2 Chromebook tablet raises an tablet running android applications to a whole new plane of performance making many of the same android applications I have used on my Android Tablets even more satisfying. Now that chromebooks run android applications the chromebook tablet seems a logical progression and HP has set the bar high for the Chromebook Tablets to come. I recommend the HP X2 Chromebook to my friends and relations.

For a budget 2 in 1, this is fantastic. This was the first detachable Chromebook on the market, and now with the Pixel Slate out, it's quite a bargain. I returned it for the Pixel Slate, but only because I had some specific use cases that warranted the extra cost. This is a fairly rugged device, with expandable storage and includes the pen and the keyboard in a laptop friendly clam shell design. I returned it mostly because my poor eyes required a backlit keyboard, and because I needed a very quick power ON and Off capability for stage use. It's a nitch need.

Got this to run Linux and Android apps to teach with. Linux apps run very slowly, and Android apps do not use the space well at all. The keyboard is nice, though together the whole package weighs much to much for as limited a machine as it is. Returned.

I have a few laptops but needed something small that I could travel with overseas. My biggest pet peeves is that going through security always having to remove my laptop. I wanted something with the screen big enough that I could work in my hotel room yet at the same time small enough to fit in the small front pocket of my carry-on. This 2 in 1 HP is perfect

This chrombook has everything I needed with bonus features in the front and back cameras and the flexibility of it's functionality as a laptop or tablet. I can keep with me at all times in my purse which comes in handy when I am at meetings. I have had this chrombook for over 6 months and have had no issues with memory, startup, or lacking programs.

Logical next step for Chrome… I have been waiting for a nice Chromebook tablet to come on the market, and the HP 2X was a nice surprise, offering the best available for a “pure tablet” but also having the keyboard for more extensive work on documents and emails. After putting the HP 2X through the paces, I must say that this Chromebook does it all, and seems to be the logical next step for having one device that meets a lot of different needs and circumstances. The keyboard is nice to have for email and office work, then converts to a pure tablet form when going to “walkaround” use, games, or just browsing the internet. This review brings up the PIxelbook for comparison, as the Pixelbook is accepted as the high-end industry standard and the ruler that newer Chromebooks are measured with. The HP 2X has been used side-by-side with a PIxelbook to provide the observations and opinions in this review. The HP X2 easily falls into the class of the “high end” Chromebook, coming in a solid second place behind the Pixelbook. I have both, and the Pixelbook still ranks higher in terms of design, performance, fit, and finish… but the HP X2 is a very attractive Chromebook and depending on your preferences, may be a better choice for you than a Pixelbook. To me, the main attraction of the HP 2X is the ability to detach the keyboard and use as a walkaround tablet. Of course, you are leaving the keyboard behind and need to make provisions for what to do with the keyboard, so that needs to be considered. The build, fit, and finish of the HP is high-end, and it feels solid in hand. There is good action on the keyboard, similar to a Surface Pro. Battery life is outstanding, lasting a full day of use unless being used for gaming or watching videos, which cuts the battery down to 6-8 hours. The screen has good colors and is easily viewed from different angles. Side-by-side with a PIxelbook, the screens are almost identical – maybe the HP is not quite as sharp but it’s a close call. For speed and multiple applications, the HP 2X and Pixelbook are, again, very close with the Pixelbook being a little more responsive when there is lots going on at the same time. In tablet mode, the HP 2X is snappier than any android tablet I have used. The HP 2X does not leave anything to be desired in terms of performance and appearance, so to me it boils down to what you want to do with your Chromebook. If you want a Chromebook that is more of a laptop for office and classroom use, the Pixelbook may be better as the keyboard is more comfortable to use over an extended time, with greater built-in storage. Of course the HP 2X has a micro-sd slot for storage expansion, which the Pixelbook does not offer. If you are more interested in being able to “walk around” with your Chromebook in tablet mode, there is really no question that the HP 2X is a better choice. Although the PIxelbook folds over to tablet mode, you have to deal with the exposed keyboard. With the HP 2X, you are in “pure tablet” without the bulk and weight of the keyboard – a much more satisfying experience! In terms of value and “bang for the buck”… I must say that the HP 2X is the better value. It is well-built, has plenty of processing power, excellent battery life, comes with pen included (thanks HP), and the detachable keyboard ‘pure tablet mode’ is definitely a very attractive feature. Interesting to notice that the Pixelbook price dropped (for the time being) $250 just prior to the HP 2X coming on the market. I think that was a direct response to the pricing, performance, and features of the HP 2X.
