Do Not Sign up for Instant Ink

I purchased an HP printer and made the mistake of subscribing to Instant Ink @ 100 pages/ month. When I first purchased I had a large file I needed to print. I used the ink that I purchased with the printer and an additional black cartridge. I was charged by HP $126 for this printing. So I was charged for cartridges I had already purchased and for an additional cartridge I had purchased locally. I cancelled my subscription and after a couple of months I went to use the cartridges I had received from Inst Ink and I can not use them because I am no longer enrolled. I finally got in touch with HP (nightmare to do) and was told that once you sign up for Inst Ink the cartridges you purchased with the printer are no longer yours. And even tho I purchased an additional black, because the color cartridges were still install I had to pay for all of my pages even tho they were all only black printing. I have decided that rather than HP getting any more of my money I ordered a competitors printer which I should have done in the first place. I have been using HP printers and computers for over 20 years and I will not purchase another HP product again.

    Incorrect usage data

I am terribly disappointed in HP Instant Ink. I use my printer very little and am the only person in my household so I signed up for the lowest $/month plan. They sent me ink cartridges when I didn't need them and charged me extra for pages. They withdrew considerably more than the agreed on amount and once I cancelled my subscription, I am not allowed to utilized the extra cartridges since I am not enrolled. I have uninstalled and installed my printer, changed the wifi access code, but am still receiving messages from them on the printer. Not happy!

This product is good if you print alot. The monthly subscription may not be worth it if you dont use it. But with kids in college and school could be useful.

I have used the HP Instantink for 5-6 months. My latest shipment, when opened, sprayed ink all over me, my clothes and my carpet. I tried working with HP to get this taken care of. Their customer service is seriously lacking. Due to their terrible customer service, I won't be purchasing ANY HP products. This is the first time I've had to deal with HP customer service and was very disappointed. They offered to send me replacement cartridges, which I already get due to the ink plan.

I am going to stop using this service because they can control your printer and lock you out so you cannot use it. I was having trouble with a cartridge and emailed them. I never got a responce so I bought a cartridge. Now that the expiration date on my card expired and i forgot to update card they locked me out. I needed to print important papers and i cannot use my own printer. I intend to cancel service.

    Color ink cartridge never worked.

I really liked the concept, but the color ink cartridges they sent never worked. I spent hours on the phone trying to resolve it with no luck. I print on only black/white 99% of the time so it wasn't an issue and I used my original color cartridge and go buy with that. I just terminated my contract they bumped up the price to 3.99 per month for 50 pages. It's not longer worth it in my view.

I went a month without the use and was still charged plus and overage. It was the worse and ever month they overcharged. Charged when it ran out of ink and printed blank pages. Never helped and never acknowledged. but sure at the end, they tell you btw your ink won't work when the contract ends, you will pay an additional month for no reason and we will take your money. so be careful, not worth it!!!!

    Bad customer service, bad product.

My ink has been running low for a few months but I didn't think much of it because their service monitors your ink levels and determines when you need new cartridges. That is until two of my colors completely ran out and when I logged into my account to see why I had not received any new cartridges it said my printer was offline. I tried to reconnect my printer but had no success despite it being up to date with its existing software and the fact that it's running on the same wifi as my computer and all other devices. What really upsets me is that they've been charging me monthly this whole time and failed to send me any e-mails notifying me that my printer was considered "offline". It seems like a deliberate way of overcharging people. This service was definitely not worth it, seeing as how I've had it for almost 2 years and was only sent ink twice because they set my pinter to offline. I would have saved money by just buying the ink I needed and still had it delivered through Amazon or done curbside pick up literally from anywhere. They weren't even willing to offer me a refund for the month I cancelled. It wasn't even the middle of the month, I had cancelled on the day they charged me but they still weren't willing to refund me that month.

Do not enroll in the instant ink program

I like the cherry picking of how the business support instant ink. I agree with the two or three negative reviews. I was a product of this false and inaccurate account concerning instant ink. In my opinion a consumer should know up front before being force into a product that may not work for you. I discover it much cheaper to buy your owned ink, however once you signup with the company produce and you cancel guess what your Hp Office-jet Pro 8035 become useless and you would need to buy another printer. Why because the company disarmed your free right to use your own ink cartridge. Ask yourself this question would you want a company to rain on your own privacy? This is basically what the company is doing when you enroll. You have no control over your ink or printer for that matter. Once you cancel your instant ink you mite as well purchase a new printer and please avoid by all means buying the new HP Office-jet so that you would not get drawn in the trap again. This has been a nightmare for me I have a brand new printer not even sixth month old and I have to go and purchase another brand printer. God bless the reader, and the truth will set you free!

Unexpected Response with Cancellation of Services

    Posted .

Please beware that once you no longer want instant ink service because it doesn't accommodate your lifestyle, HP will want you to buy new cartridges to replace the current cartridges in your printer. Everything is good until you no longer want to continue service with them. They will defer back to the original contract to put the blame on you and incur the profit loss with the remaining ink. This is unacceptable.

I have had this service for two years now and was initially pleased. Now I find myself out of ink and despite two sessions with support, one to verify my black ink was getting low and the second when it was Completely Out. Despite a promise of priority shipping I still do not have a replacement. This service just does not work well for me. I am better off having replacement cartridges on hand when this happens.

If you go over the number of pages they will charge you a lot for the extra. I never received ink cartridges when I needed them so I had to buy them. I have seen a lot of complaints that people didn't receive them on a timely basis, I didn't receive them at all. Now I just quit the program and they want me to send back the cartridges (ones they have not sent replacements for).

INSTANT INK IS A TERRIBLE DEAL.

If you subscribe to HP Instant Ink, be aware that if you cancel it, HP will remotely disable those ink cartridges, regardless of how full they are. I bought an HP 9015 in May for working from home. I blew through the first set of cartridges and decided to subscribe to Instant Ink and got replacement cartridges from HP. Fast forward a few weeks and I knew I needed a more robust printer/scanner so I upgraded to HP color laser jet. I was going to sell the HP 9015 and went to cancel the Instant Ink subscription. That’s when I found out that although almost full, HP will remotely disable the cartridges once I cancelled. What a total RIP OFF. That is just not cool, HP. Now I have to buy NEW cartridges in order to sell it and be usable for my co worker. I told her the cartridges were almost full, and I’m not going to rip her off. That is unconscionable.
