HP ink for my printer

The only issue is that I don't print enough at one time to keep the jets "primed" and the printer wastes a lot of ink getting ready to print. Strangely enough when my text start to fade when the ink runs low it is always the Photo Black ink cartridge not the Black cartridge that needs replacing????
