When you get a cartridge that does not work properly, you have the option of contacting the seller about a refund or replacement.
According to the Best Buy site's Return & Exchange Policy information:
"If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to a Best Buy store and we'll arrange for a replacement. I am sorry that your cartridge did not fit. I'm wondering if you ordered the correct one, because any black cartridge should fit the opening (which has a pentagon icon) for the black cartridge.
It is easy to mistakenly order the thin Photo cartridges instead of the regular black cartridges. Because they used to be labeled 'Photo Black' and some suppliers still refer to them by that name. The Photo cartridge goes into the smaller slot labeled with an icon shaped like a bowtie. Here is a link to some online information about that: support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01839024
