For some reason this cartridge is always the first one to empty; even faster than the color cartridges. I've used both the regular and XL size cartridges and there's not much difference.

Normally, you need to return items to the seller unless it is a warranty issue. You should be able to take it to the local Best Buy Store. Otherwise, you probably need to contact Best Buy Customer Service:

Getting sick of buying ink!

Maybe made 300 copies and barely 100 pictures a year. I have had the printer for almost 3 years. The ink costs $60 each time. I read switch to HP over cannon because of ink cost and how much you get out of them. Not even close.... I would barely buy 2 sets a year with same usage. Also, normally my canon would run out of colors randomly telling me it uses them properly. It seems odd that the HP would run out of ALL ink at the same time since day one.
