I am sorry that the cartridges ran out so fast. I can understand why you are not happy!
Ink usage usually determines how long a cartridge lasts (unless it was defective). High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will run the cartridge out faster.
Here are some things that might help you get savings on ink:
- Most people have found that the XL version of the cartridges are a much better value.
- Make use of the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black, and colored ink
- Using the black-only setting, when appropriate, will save on colored ink usage.
- Shut the printer down between uses; however, always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
- Consider getting Instant Ink. The subscription plans let you pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

Posted .Hi Marsh, Thank you for your feedback, sorry to hear you are unhappy with the Page yield. Historically printer manufacturers used their own methods for estimating page yield. However, this made it difficult to compare different products. Nowadays, the published page yield is based on the Industry Standard for measuring yields (refer to International Standards Organization ISO 24711). You may find that you will get more pages when printing in Fast draft mode. XL size cartridges offer up to 50% lower cost per page compared with standard size cartridges. Our recommendation would be that you leave your printer powered on in normal usage conditions, only power it down if you will not use it for an extended period (i.e.: longer than one month).
