Cannot use 61 color cartridge

They both came in the same package, but I cannot change out the color. The black fitted in with no problem. Can I return the two? I don't know what to do.

I'm sorry you received a message that the cartridge is incompatible. As you need the black and color cartridge, these messages must hinder printing. I can help you figure out why the cartridge is not working. First, try resetting the printer. Often, a restart will allow the printer recognize the cartridge. Next, try cleaning the cartridge. Use a damp cloth to clean the printhead. Thank you for choosing HP.
