It is always is a good practice to verify if the cartridges you receive are authentic. That is fairly easy to do if you check the things indicated at: hp.com/go/anticounterfeit

First one after installed, within a year the ink dried out even though I printed very few pages out of it. The second one, upon installed, could not print clearly after running many printer head cleaning operations from the printer. Went through HP support page for techniques to get it print properly, no luck. I am on the third one now, so far it is ok, but if it doesn't last long, I might get rid of this HP printer for good, since the cartridges are so costly and unreliable.

I'm sorry that you received a cartridge that did not seem to last long enough. I can understand if you are upset.
If the cleaning routine does help the printing, there is a good possibility that the printer was turned off using a power strip or switch. That will clog up the cartridge.
It is very important to use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That allows the printer to ‘park’ in a position where the cartridges are protected from excessive drying. That drying can cause clogs in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper during printing.
