I was in Best Buy for something else so bought another 61 black and color. That one went bad so I went to staples and bought 1 of each and they are fine. I just wanted to be sure it wasn't my printer. It wasn't. I Think the ink cartridges at Best Buy must have been old. I did not return the cartridges for money back because it wasn't convenient. I love Best Buy, but not for cartridges.

I am a student and I was just printing standard notes. I wasn't even printing Power Points. I'm getting tired of constantly buying ink cartridges. They don't last long and when they decide to go...that's it! I'm not HP lover.

Ink usage usually determines how long each individual cartridge lasts. High-density prints (like images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the surrounding air is dry.
Here are some things that might help lower your ink usage:
- Consider using XL cartridges. Most people say they are a much better value
- Set the printer to draft mode whenever possible
- Shut the printer down between uses
- Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying
- Subscribe to Instant Ink, then you only pay by the page and not for the cartridges themselves
The seller is responsible for the product you bought from them. If the poor performance appears to be due to the individual cartridge itself, consider returning it to the seller.

I print a few pages every day and I'm having to change the ink almost monthly. The ink may be cheaper than others, but I guess you get what you pay for! I have no choice. I'm not buying another printer.
