The store didn't have the ink. I was told to order online. I ordered black and colored ink. The black was sent to my home abut the color was sent to the store. The store is quite far frommy home. The printer does not work unless both cartridges are installed. I had to wait another week for the ink

      Hi,

I am sorry that the one cartridge was sent to the wrong place. That seems disappointing all right.

However, normally the printers that use just two cartridges can print with only one cartridge installed. That allows you to finish your print job, if you need to. The printout won't be the same, tricolor cartridges can't print black, so you'll get a dark brown instead, while black cartridges will print colored sections in gray.

Also, with only one cartridge installed, you'll get an error message, but that can be ignored.

I bought a couple of these 61 ink in black, one worked in my printer and one didn't. I kept getting an error message. Best Buy did let me exchange the item but said I could only exchange it once and that if I got that error message again on my printer that it was a printer problem. Not happy :(

      Hi,

It can be frustrating to not have cartridges last long. I can understand if you are disappointed.

How a cartridge will perform in your particular printer, is affected by several variables, including the surrounding environment and the density of the prints. High-density prints (such as greeting cards, posters, images and graphs) will run a cartridge out faster, especially if the paper is highly absorbent and the air is dry.

Some things that might result in ink savings:
      - A lot of black is used in almost every printout. The printer's draft mode can stretch out both black and colored ink
      - Using the black-only setting will save on colored ink usage.
      - Turn off the printer between uses; however, always use the printer's power button to shut it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ in a way that protects the cartridges from drying and clogging up.
      - Think about enrolling in Instant Ink. Subscription plans allow you to pay by the page. Check out the details at: instantink.com

If it appears that poor performance is due to a defect or you were sent a cartridge already low on ink, please contact the seller. According to the Best Buy website: "If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to Best Buy and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)."

Only thing is that if one does not use the printer often the ink will dry - waste of money.

      Hi,

One thing that might help this situation is to make sure that the printer is either left on, or turned off using the power button on the printer itself.

When the printer is on, it will run a maintenance routine that keeps the cartridge nozzles clear. If the printer is turned off with its power button, it will 'park' the printer in a way that protects the cartridges from drying out.

      Hello,

I'm sorry that you aren't getting enough savings from the 2-pack. You can try the XL versions to see if they seem to be a better value.

You can make the ink last longer by using the draft and black only settings. Turning the printer off between uses can also help, but be sure to use the power button on the printer to turn it off. That protects the cartridges from excess drying.

      Hi,

I am sorry that the cartridge didn't last long for you. That has to be distressing.

Normally, ink usage determines how long a cartridge lasts. High-density prints (such as images and graphs) will use more ink, especially if the paper is very absorbent and the air is dry.

Here are some things that might help lower your ink costs:
      - Black is used a lot in almost every printout. Use the printer's draft mode whenever possible, to help stretch out black and colored ink
      - Most people consider the XL version of the cartridge to be a better value
      - Always use the power button on the printer itself to turn it off. That gives it time to ‘park’ so that the cartridges are protected from excessive drying.
      - Shutting the printer down between uses will save electricity and a few drops of ink here and there that are used to keep the inkjets cleared and ready for your next print job.
      - Instant Ink lets you pay by the page. Check out the details at the HP Instant Ink site.
