    You decide to purchase the $45 XL cartride to try and save yourself a trip and save a little on bulk pricing. And one month later- after only printing about 20 pages, the ink magically dissapears from the cartridge- or worse, it prints faded despite the printer showing "half full". Time for a new printer.

      Hello Jerry,

      I am sorry that you received a cartridge that did not last long. You should have been able to print a lot more than 20 pages!

      Unless a cartridge was damaged or defective, the ink usage will determine how long it lasts and there are ways lower your ink usage, including using Instant Ink. Details can be found at: instantink.com

      When a cartridge stops working well when it still has ink, you can clean the cartridge. There is an option on the printer menu do that.

      If that helps, the printer might have been turned off using a power strip or switch. The printer should always be turned off using the power button on the printer itself. That will let it 'park' so that the cartridges are protected from excess drying. The drying can cause clogs in the tiny nozzles that spray the ink onto the paper.

      When it seems that the low page yield was caused by a defective cartridge, it is always an option to contact the seller about it.

    THE INK RUNS OUT FAIRLY QUICKLY, I WOULDNT RECOMMEND AN INKJET IF YOU HAVE TO PRINT A LOT OF PAPERS.

    My printer didn't read it right. It kept showing a message that the cartridge was not compatible. Had to take my printer to the GeekSquad and after convincing them that it was the cartridge not the printer and they replaced the cartridge for a new one the error went away. Of course I was out the price of another cartridge since it is a consumable and cannot be exchanged. It was the best option since originally they wanted me to trash the printer and get a new one. The color cartridge worked just fine so logically had to be the cartridge but we are no longer use to be problem solver just consume and dispose now in days.
