What I have run into almost at a 50% ratio is that the cartridge turns out defective once installed. Will not print because it gives you an error. At $43.99 plus tax, it’s a hard pill to swallow especially since the store you buy from will not take it back once it’s opened and installed. And try getting through HP’s customer service number, that’s a task in itself. Printer will be relaxed once this round of ink runs out and it will definitely not be an HP. When it works, it works though.

I'm sorry that the ratio of good cartridges is not good. Normally, you would contact the seller who sold you the cartridge about defective ones.
The Best Buy site information does not mention only accepting an unopened product. According to the Best Buy site's Return & Exchange Policy information:
"If you receive a product that is damaged in shipping, defective or that is not the product you ordered, please return it during your return and exchange time period to a Best Buy store and we'll arrange for a replacement. If you would rather return the item by mail during your return and exchange time period, please call us for special instructions at 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289). We will cover all reasonable and customary ground shipping fees."
